The Last of Us Part II announced

Agreed. It's lazy work using the same characters, characters who had their ending. It's Uncharted 4 all over again. An unnecessary sequel to characters that had their ending in the game before, just to make a quick buck.

Come back to this when the final product is out. There is plenty of media where people didn't think they wanted or needed a sequel and it came out and suddenly it was like GIVE ME MORE!

It's highly disappointing that a game with such a good story, which ended so perfectly, has to have a sequel with the same characters "because money"

If it HAD to have a sequel it should have been new characters in the same universe. Disappointed in Naughty Dog

A. Naughty Dog knows the story better than you do and they know what's best for it better than you do.
B. 99% of all media that you ever loved only exists because of money.

It's a little strange living in a post-TLOU being a self-contained story world, but I kinda like it. Three and a half years was enough time to be spent thinking the original's ending was the end to the story. I think it's definitely time for more for the people that want it.

Or you know, they feel their story is worth continuing

Indeed. I highly doubt Sony forced ND to keep Joel and Ellie. I'm sure they trust them enough that if ND wanted to use new character in TLOU Universe they could have.

Its clear that they feel there is more to tell in the story of Joel and Ellie, and judging from the hints we get to it in this trailer, I think they are more than right.

I'm not sure what to think. I've always felt that Last of Us didn't need a sequel but I can't say I'm not intrigued. I'll play it.

I actually find the "
Joel is imaginery and was killed by Fireflies
" theory pretty reasonable.
And the second I saw the hand shaking I thought "cannibalism" lol

Of course. I'm only posting my initial reactions, like so many others are. God forbid we aren't a hive mind here at GAF like some outsiders think we are.

I have to admit I'm kind of surprised given this is GAF that there aren't people
creeps
who are disappointed that their little Ellie has tattoos.

In any case, I'm excited. But please make sure the overall story has an arc ND, none of that walking dead garbage.

SPOILER: Joel is dead. Ellie has been conversing with his ghost the entire time.

Also, how old you guys reckon Ellie was in this game? Early 20s?

People doubting a direct sequel will be singing a different tune once the game is out. They found the perfect angle for it, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

I always thought TLOU was pretty open-ended character wise, like there were ways to take Ellie and Joel. Ellie is a young character, it'd be a shame to let her go to waste.

Female enemies confirmed? I hope so cause ND has no excuse at this point
NebHg3F.png

Their excuse for TLOU1 was that PS3 didn't have enough memory to animate female combatants, but then they failed to have any female enemies in Uncharted 4 where the PS3 isn't a factor so it feels like a bullshit excuse. Uncharted 4 was also quite offensive, because
it DID have two sections where you fight Nadine, but they disable your fighting buttons so you can't hurt their pretty princess
.

Maybe the trope of the expendable male will finally come to an end.

Not sure if we should spoiler-tag our story predictions based on the trailer, but I've got a big hunch that
Joel is already dead here. Fireflies caught up to them, killed Joel, failed to capture Ellie again.

Joel looks to 'clean', not that much older, to relaxed in speaking. Looks like either her mind/conscience talking to her. Would be the likeliest thing to motivate Ellie going on a rampage against the Fireflies.

She'll learn more about what Joel kept from her, having to deal with that Joel against her memory of father Joel. Complex relationships yo.

Are you seriously incapable of reading a three sentence post?

I read all the posts you've made in this thread, including the "uncertainty" point you tried to make.

However I'm still waiting on how it ruins the ending. Especially seeing as how all we have is a teaser trailer for the second.

Keep trying to deflect though.

Cool i have a ps4 already, but for this game i'll pick up a Pro when it releases, and i'll likely have a 4k hdr tv as well.

Perfectk timing to the sequel of the best game this and last generation.
