Your post wasn't required maybe other than the fact you where disappointed they didn't announce a new ip which was okay also I think NAughty dog has teased they're working on a new ip within the last year.

if Ellie were the main character, maybe the trailer was shot this way so that the focus was her instead of Joel? The trailer clearly communicates that. Joel might be the supporting character this time around.

If I remember right there is a window in the hotel in Pittsburgh which looks pretty similar to the one in the main menu.

I really hope Druckmann takes U4 criticism to heart and doesn't overdue narrative or walking segments at the expense of pacing.

I mean U4 is my GOTY but the pacing was it's weak point. Basically be like the first lol.

I'm fearing the traversal segments. All the ladders, climbing and crate moving just feels like a drag to play through after experiencing it in 5 ND games. Really hope they tone down all that forced adventuring.

The careful measures pacing at the beginning is what informs the story, characters, and tone for the rest of the game

My beef was with U4, not TLOU. I get why it had a slow start, and I don't mind it because the game continuously got better. And like you said the world building helped the rest of the game. U4 on the other hand intermittently would break the pacing and the flow was not quite right.

There was also missed opportunities with awesome locations that went unused essentially. Hopefully Druck doesn't get too carried away.

Hyped! But also a bit nervous. TLOU is my second favorite game of all time and in many ways almost reaches perfection to the extent that is possible. This is a direct sequel, which means it will not only be compared to the original, it will also tell the tale of Ellie and Joel further and directly affect how I and others perceive those characters. I would've preferred a different set of characters but am hyped trough the roof anyways.

I havent read all of the thread yet so I don't know if the details have been leaked, but I hope the game is less about the fungus zombies and more about society trying to rebuild. The human interactions were far more interesting so I hope that the fungus zombies are largely contained in random pockets, most just dying off awhile. The groups of humanity that are trying to survive, build communities, make it a new dark ages, the plague is over but the renaissance is not here yet
