The Last of Us Part II announced

I've never played the first game but have wanted to for awhile. I still have my ps3 but don't have a PS4 yet (have a PC and Xbox One so far).

Is it worth playing the ps3 release at this point? It's only $10 at Gamestop. I heard the performance of the ps3 release is lacking. How bad is it? I'm pretty sensitive to frame rate dips and jank if that matters.

Or wait till I get a PS4 and play the remaster?

At this point, you might as well wait until you have the chance to play the remaster. It's significantly better performance-wise. But if you're still somehow unspoiled after all this time, try to remain unspoiled until you've played it. It's a great experience that way.

Not digging Ellie's design at all. It's funny she looks nothing how i pictured her next gen makeover looking like, especially at 19 years old. Her hair is short and doesn't look right for that age, ]

It looks right for a person who's grown up knowing that having long hair is likely to be the best way for a clicker to grab onto you.

She honestly looks better than i thought she would.

Her hair is short and doesn't look right for that age, the tattoo is so out of the blue that it feels trashy for some reason. If Ellie in the first game was supposed to be a tomboy then she is x1000 in this game

I know she's supposed to be older but damn, what a drastic change.

She looks appropriately aged? You're also comparing early concept art to in-game footage. We won't really know what she'll actually look like until we have the game in our hands.

Oh and, the tattoo is clearly meant to
hide her bite-marks
. Not sure how that can in any way be considered "out of the blue"?

If you're going to get a PS4 at some point then just wait imo.

Im getting a little worried after hearing the theme will be about hate, and likeliness revenge.

I hipe there isnt too much angst and hate like a god of war game.

I think what'll separate this from God of War is that Joel will be there to be a sort of anchor for Ellie.

I can't see him watch her do things that betray who she is without trying to reason or argue with her.

Wait, the remaster is worth it and the added resolution and framerate is sublime.

Thanks guys, seems like waiting till I get a ps4 its the way to go. I'd much prefer the cleaner/smoother look.

Well, she grew up? I mean, she still looks very young and not very different to me, it's just that she looks pissed in most pictures now while in TLOU1 she looks pretty uneasy/dismayed most of the time. People grow up a lot between 14 and 19 both physically and emotionally.

I'm personally not a fan of tattoos, but why is it so weird that Ellie would want one? It's pretty clear she got it to cover her infection scar too.

She went through some horrific shit in the first game and in the DLC, if that happened to you wouldn't smile as much.

This isn't some go happy Uncharted Barbie world we're in.

Yeah, you have to take into account that everything from Left Behind onward happens within the span of 1 year, give or take a couple of weeks. It's something that would leave behind emotional scars for years to come, and that's if she's able to process it all appropriately. Saying her dire look looks "off-putting" is kinda weird.

Ellie's design is great. Maybe would have preferred she ditched the converse for some more practical boots, but it makes sense why they have her wearing them.

Exactly, she's not really the same person anymore, she's seen some shit and knows how harsh and relentlessness the world really is now. She's not hopeful and afraid like she was in the first game, she's bitter and pissed just like how Joel was before he took on and cared for Ellie in TLOU.

Older Ellie lacking any sort of the typical super model-fication of your average pretty female protagonist is pretty nice. It's not a new thing nowadays as more and more games are starting to be conscious of stuff, but it's still nice to see.

It seems Ellie has had bad days since the end of TLOU , I mean worse ones than the ones she had on the firsth game..it seems she no longer enjoy to see Jiraffes and read joke books.

It seems rage and hate will be the main factors that will move Ellie's actions. She could be a new Kratos and really hope this does not happens.

She could end like a Monster

I truly envy you, and I mean that literally. No matter how much this game is hyped, you will not be disappointed. I've played it 11 times and watched more than 25 full playthroughs on Youtube.

Watching some LOU 1 and I never quite appreciated Ellie's swearing lol

I love the scene with the porno mag. "Bye bye dude!"

I think Ellie is really going to become an iconic character, and maybe that's one of their goals. Not many strong female characters and Ellie is well written, acted, etc

I am surprised how popular LoU is. It wasn't any bigger than uncharted. But with ps4s immense success, millions of new fans were created with the well timed remaster

Go on YouTube. The revea has 9 million views across top channels. And there are an incredible number of popular reaction vids where people are freaking out

I think LoU is so much bigger and has so much better appeal than uncharted

Joel and Ellie are names people know far more than Drake and Elena

Don't know about that but I definitely think they are going to kill her at the end of the trilogy and have Joel survive her. Maybe even revert him to how he was before the first game.

The Last of Us sold 7+ million copies on PS3 alone, and more than 1 million within the launch window of PS4 Remaster release.

Chances are TLoU is over 9 million sales by now, but majority of them are definitely on the PS3.

I've noticed that former XBOX 360 owners/GoW fans tend to appreciate TLOU more than Uncharted for some reason...

I know it doesnt really matter, but surely im not the only one who thinks Ellie's model is kinda weird for a 19 yo female character... right? (you guys know what im talking about).

I dont really care but it just.. weird.

Ellie lives in a post-apocalyptic world where there's nothing but death waiting for her every corner. From infected to humans who are worst than infected. 5 years passing and now she have shorter hair which I don't see what the problem is with that, and a tattoo I mean anything could've happened in 5 years from the first game. If anything that tattoo has meaning to it instead of just for show. That tomboy comment...WOW!

what does this mean

nope

why is this design bothering people so much
Creepy people that should be playing princess maker instead of lamenting that their little Ellie didn't grow into their idea of sexual attractiveness, maybe? I also have no idea what that particular post is about

No, we don't know what you're talking about. What are you talking about?

Her design's not weird, but your post sure is.

Definitely worth waiting for a PS4 (Pro if possible). You're in for a treat with it :)

In what way? Looks pretty much exactly like I would have expected.

You know that's just rough concept art, she looks just like an older version of ellie in the game.

Her hair is short for practical reasons, she's actually trying to survive in this brutal world. Then there's the tattoo, which is clearing hiding where she was bit.

Could you be more vague?

Her design's not weird, but your post sure is.

It's pretty obvious what he wants her to look like.

They don't wanna get sued by Ellen Page again.

You're thinking of Page allegedly pursuing legal action over the nude scenes in Beyond, but that was a just a classic case of "lol videogame journalism": The Examiner published an article that cites a Hollywood Spectator article, which itself cites a Christian Post article, which itself cites a Bustle article, which itself cites speculation based on reports that Sony was DMCAing gameplay videos. A veritable carnival of stupid.

I'm sure we all figured. But in fairness, I can only assume.

The way they tried to beat around the bush about it was pretty amusing tho.

Well, I'm not sure what you're getting at, do you think she's too tomboyish or something? Why are you beating around the bush? lol
