Giant Bomb GoTY 2016- Agent 47, take out that Doom Marine

I was really hoping XCOM 2 was going to be cheaper during this Steam sale. I loved the first one, but decided to wait for the technical stuff to get sorted out. $30 still seems steep.

Sam from U4 feels like a idea left over from when Amy Henning was in charge that Druckmann wanted to keep around but never quite knew what to do with.


I kinda like the rumoured idea that originally Sam was meant to be the bad guy and was super pissed after Nate left him in that jail.

Watching this Hitsmas video and it's utterly fascinating the fictional game mechanics each person on the team have fabricated in their minds.
 
Is recore really as bad as Brad is making it out to be? I was about to buy it while it was on sale because I was under the impression that the respond was positive aside from some tech issues.

Edit: or is he just trying to distract everyone from going for no mans sky

The first hours of the game are great. Then you hit a wall and need to do a lot of grinding to get to the finale.
I plan to eventually buy it and cheat at the end.
 
Not seeing Overwatch characters in Best New Characters makes sense. They collectively don't like the writing and they don't follow the lore on the website. I think it's fine they were left out.
 
Vinny's GotY is Doom as well?

Doom domination is real 🙌

would prefer Titanfall 2, but Doom is a very close second.

I think it's been a bad year for new characters in games, but I think what they choose shows that.

Yep, pretty silly choice.
Essentially nonexistent "character" in any traditional sense of the word, and they never really even tried to justify the choice.
I guess it boils down to "it's our list!"
 
Doom is gonna win, but Hitman SHOULD win for what it did for Giant Bomb this year.

Seriously, think about how much lamer this year would've been without Hitman.
 
A non-character winning Best New Character in a year the internet went nuts over a bunch of non-characters fanfic'd to death in another game seems perfect.

Yeah, he'd have been the winner the past three years running if that were the case.

Ugh, all their love for The Witness is gonna drive me insane. I hate that game and I wish I could like it.

It made me feel so stupid at every turn, and once I looked up the solution for one puzzle and knew I'd have never figured it out, the whole thing was broken. Still spent like 8 more hours trying to make myself like it, instead of getting a refund like I should've done.

I'm a pretty depressed, self-loathing person and that game just amplified those aspects of my personality.
 
I see Jeff wasted no time in bullying his favorite game into the lists again this year. Sometimes it feels like he's having a completely different conversation than everyone else at the table.

Yikes, that sounds rough. I think it just perfectly towed the difficulty line for me that I was nearly always challenged, but never had to look up a solution.

I think the joke is lost for people like me who didn't watch every single Hitman video and didn't play the game yet. I'll be checking out the game sometime this week.

Sheesh man, at least you can admit you have a problem most can't. You should use the game as self therapy. Get a good mentality going, put your chin down, and trudge through it. Imo the best part of puzzle games is that a ha moment.
