For Honor |OT| And shame are huge parts of it

Let us do this, brethren and sisters

Does this happen in the game too?

Part of me really wants to get this. All things considered it's pretty unique and I don't really have any other MP games that are not about shooting...

On the other hand weren't the campaign previews mostly negative? Which I hope was just due to it's early previews cause I was really looking forward to a good campaign.

I'd be surprised if it's anything more than a longer combat tutorial to get yourself comfortable with every class before going into multiplayer.

That launch trailer had war elephants. If my "long combat tutorial" has me fighting a war elephant, I'll still be happy.

Ahah yeah me too, I'm just going in with low expectations not to be disappointed if it's nothing special. Of course I'd be very glad to be proven wrong!

Wardens are top tier man, they are deadly in the hands of good player, especially if they can parry well.

Anyone have tips for Kensei VS Nobushi? They outdistance me so my guard break is really tough to get off. The only thing that seems to work is the side dash attack and that gets predictable.

Interesting empirical analysis of the class distribution played/encountered during the Open Beta.

Interesting how different it is by game mode. I played berserker and at first I was like 'no way there were that many berserkers. I almost never fought against one.' and then I scrolled down and realized I mostly played elimination where apparently berserker suddenly became unpopular. I wonder why?

I also felt like there were far more raiders in elim, but that could be including bots and I feel like the AI is predisposed to pick raider more than the assassin classes. I wonder if they aren't confident in their assassin AI or something.

Yeah, not expecting much either, so maybe we will both be pleasantly surprised. Though For Honor was never about the singleplayer to me, so no matter how it turns out, I won't be mad.

Yea, a good Warden player is probably the hardest fight for me in the game. They have a super quick overhead attack that forces you to constantly guard top, but if you let them land a side attack they get an instant follow up side attack. You also can't really attack their overhead or you get punished. They recover from feints incredibly quickly and can quickly change attack direction to mix things up. And if you screw up your defense against them it is very easy to get stuck in their shoulder charge combo.

As for the campaign, I'm expecting a fighting game-tier campaign and anything more than that will be a pleasant surprise.

Anyplace I can buy this game digitally, for a discount, in NA region?

GMG will not let me purchase for some unexplained reason. All the other key stores I see are for EU region only. Uplay discount code doesn't work for NA region.

Holy fuck! I just watched the gameplay videos in the OP... I thought this game was a hybrid isometric warfare game with occasional action gameplay. This looks SO FUCKING AWESOME!

I give Ubisoft a lot of credit for this title and moving away from their usual gameplay mechanics of simple combat, tower unlocks, millions of collectables to gather etc...this gives me a lot of hope that the next Assassin's Creed will be a return to form (bodes well for division 2 as well)

So physical physical gold edition is £70, and there is an option for getting standard edition for £40. But I like getting my games digitally so I look at xbox store and this is what I see. Digital gold edition is £80, the deluxe edition is £55 and standard edition isn't even available digitally ! Which is INCREDIBLY scummy.

Should I even bother with any version other than standard physical edition? I'm the kind of guy who bought both season pass for Rainbow Six Siege to get the operators asap.

The Kensei v. Nobushi matchup is probably the most lopsided in the game. The Kensei switches block sides slower than a Nobushi can attack, so if you get caught by one then the kick combo is coming out.

On top that if you see the kick coming and try to dodge out of the way you'll still grey caught because Kensei dodge is so slow.

So you have to use his side dodge attack, but guess what? Once you do the side dodge attack the Nobushi recovers so fast from his kick that his next attack will trade with your slash.

Basically, all you can do against a good Nobushi is it lame tl them from distance, using feints to get one light attack in then back off. Don't even think about going for the second hit or you'll get parried and put into the kick blender i mentioned above.

Also if you somehow manage to maneuver them towards a wall and get a guardbreak, make sure to throw them into a wall and get them guaranteed unblockable overhead to take the health lead. Once you can make them have to come you, it becomes an easier fight...a little.

Here are some guides for all the characters.

These guides are excellent. The feints one in particular shows some pretty disgustingly executed feints + punishes.

The defense guide is quite good too, although I think the section on deflects is outdated and still utilizes the pre-reworked deflect mechanics.

I haven't read through all of the hero specific ones yet, but the couple I have looked through are well done.

Would love to see them do some sort of special events with this now and again, like unleashing a random bunny into a match ;)

I really didn't care much for what I was seeing of the game these past couple of years, but after playing in the beta my mind has changed. I felt myself playing it a lot more than I ever thought I would. I'm gonna be picking this up this week. It was great.

For what it's worth, I've been playing for the Knights and I use the Warden almost exclusively. I do alright, but there were some really good players out there.

God damnit. I just saw this was always online. I already had the Gold Edition in my Best Buy cart (go GCU discount!) before seeing that this game REQUIRES an internet connection... even for single player content.

Any reason to think this will be removed?

No, also, there is really a MP focused fighting game. If you're not interested in MP online battling I would skip this.

I doubt it. It probably has to do with that war effort thing where everything you do contributes to it in some way.

In other news, I got confirmation the game was shipped! Originally when I ordered it said delivery on thursday but I'm glad it'll be waiting for me when I get home tomorrow.

To be fair, it's great for offline players in the sense that everything can be played with AI. I know some folks on GAF (and other places) like to be able to play with bots offline and have that option. Seems a bit of a shame to require it to be online for that reason. I hope if the game ever 'dies off' Ubisoft will let players play it offline eventually.

That doesn't inspire confidence. I hope that's balanced out a bit in time somehow.

Can I ask you how to utilize feints? I know how to perform them, but not how they're actually useful to me.
