I'm about the ruin the show for everyone. The Ellie casting didn't bother me despite the constant complaints, I even defended it on occasion. Then ran across a tweet showing Cailee Spaeny and as I watched S2E1 it made it way too distracted to watch Bella in the role. There are no re-dos and we live in the timeline that we are in.

This casting been suggested a million times. She looks like Part 2 Ellie but I can't imagine her as Part 1 Ellie. They wouldn't have cast her. She is 26. Also it wouldn't have made any sense to recast Ellie for season 2.

I agree, but I had to a slightly fix your statement so we all are a bit more self reflective. No one makes as much fun of unattractive male public figures. And even when done, it's done in jest. Not with this kind of vitriolic hatred that we see online.

Also, posters on the internet don't need anyone's defense either. So why should we try and explain their motivations? Why should we steelman their arguments, when many (not all) are just trying to get away with being a bully? Calling out hate, where people actually take the time uglifying pictures of her face and then circulating it like it's supposed to be funny, is not just defending her. Like you said, she doesn't need that. But it's an appeal to reflect on what the community is actually doing. Bruh we've only had one fucking episode come out. Some folks are just itching to get their soundbites out asap.

Syntheticman sadly turned into a ragebait grifter over the past few years. He used to make really good in-depth videos with breakdowns and recommendations to other shows and games he likes. He found out that the ragebait grift got him way more views and he never looked back.

Variety reported the Pedro was making 500K per episode. There's no way they wouldn't bump up Bella's pay for Season 2.

Edit: Even 17 episodes at 70K per episode puts her at 1.12 million dollars.

Contracts are almost always renegotiated after season 1, after gauging reception. Pretty sure she is making big bucks starting season 2.

Sure it's human nature. I just think we are capable of doing better, at least as adults. What Bella Ramsey is getting is not the equivalent of Trump being ridiculed for his looks. It's the equivalent of someone not voting for Trump because of his looks (which isn't happening) and finding every chance you get to complain about it. It's the equivalent of someone not listening to Aerosmith because of Steve Tyler's looks (which also isn't happening).

Humor is ok but many don't seem do it that way. People started calling Ramsey ugly when season 1 was announced and when it was being filmed. She was only 17 then. Its very understandable that people think its wrong and are tired of it still happening. In the recent season 2 review thread people were making fun of a season 1 photo of her.

Part 2 is my favorite TLOU game and I don't have a strong opinion about that. I liked the game Abby and I'm sure Dever will do a great job in the show. I wanted Florence Pugh for the role before anything was announced.

If you're being honest with yourself, attractiveness is an important trait, not for "getting a boner", but it's an evolutionary decider. Lots of reasons for this even though it comes across as silly.

They still want to build a brand and they're trying to reinforce that brand as many times as they can. Much of this is automated, they might have a sizzler roll that is default for most shows that includes the show you might be watching, and it might be entirely of that show because it's the next hot thing. They also might have to fill in the time slot and HBO doesn't generally advertise for things outside of its network.

What a bunch of BS. If you are claiming that as "fact", I don't think you understand how empathy or evolution works. The biological imperatives that are attractive to us are for seeking a partner or a leader. Since neither apply here, Ellie's attractiveness and people's response to it is... literally... skin deep. And even that is subjective and I can guarantee you there are people out there who actually find her attractive. There is nothing fact based in your claim. You are using psychology and biology to embellish and justify shallow mindedness. And I don't mean that as an attack towards you specifically. I mean that for all of us, including me. We all are capable of falling prey to shallow mindedness. If we are really being honest, let's just admit that to ourselves and see if that's worth reflecting/improving on.

If you don't have a single friend or family member that's not "attractive" that you can empathize with and you need other "mitigating factors", that says more about you than "evolutionary traits".

Man, the "let's see your photo" angle is the same thing as the "what have you directed ?" whenever someone criticizes a film, "How many songs have you written ?" whenever someone criticizes a band, "how many games have you developed ?" whenever someone criticizes a game and so on so forth...

It's a flawed argument only meant as a "gotcha" thinking that it will make the other person shut the fuck up.

Is it insensitive ? Sure, then again, these are - wait for it - people that CHOSE this profession, a profession which by its nature has to do with you being in front of a camera/audience and literally exposing yourself to - wait for it again - MILLIONS of people (when talking about TV/movie actors and not theater ones).

Just like i don't wake up everyday and say "damn I look like Jared Leto" when watching myself in the mirror, same thing with Ms Ramsey - unless you think that whenever she looks herself in the mirror she thinks that she looks like Margot Robbie or something...

There's good "weird" like, say, Tilda Swinton (very androgynous) or even Grace Jones and then there's the plain ol' "bad weird" like bella Ramsey where she (unfortunately) looks like she's missing a chromosome.

Let me put it another way :
Lately I've developed a belly due to eating like a motherfucker (gotta love southern Italy man), now, say I was an actor and say that they offered me the role in an upcoming He-Man movie - would the viewers be wrong if they said that i look bad/ugly/etc when literally cosplaying as He-Man with a fucking belly ? In that case, I'd have chosen to be an actor, I'd have chosen to expose myself to millions of people - that's literally what's happening with this whole Ramsey thing.
