My NAT type is good but been dropped from the second story mission three times now with critical errors :(

Enjoying it too!

Wow, I guessed steel acquisition would be slow, but I didn't expect it to be this slow.

Going to be a while before I unlock those sweet Conqueror executions

Oh man, after playing alpha and two betas I still want more. This didn't happen to me in a long, long time... After release I've played a bit Lawbringer, but campaign is still untouched... I've got a feeling I'm up for great fun though ;) Anyone already finished it? Are the rumours about level 5 bots true?

I love that the Viking cities and forts have Swedish names.

Like Svengård.

Or Dalborg.

Dalborg because its in a valley (Dal) and its a Fort (Borg). Dry, swedish naming, perfect stuff! :p

Game is fun
Skirmish was a shitshow
Elimination still manageable, but every one runs for buffs all the time

So about to pull the trigger, whats the single player like?

You run through the MP maps that have been slightly expanded and hack and slash your way through lots and lots of bots. Intermittently there are cutscenes telling your character's story. It's not Uncharted level cinema but it's suitable.

Any info about how long the SP is?

After about an hour I'm halfway through one of three campaigns, so I'd guess six hours all told. There are tons of collectibles in each map and higher difficulty settings to encourage you to go back and get more out of the SP mode.

It's the Mp maps?

I mean, there are parts sure, but most of the stuff in chapter 1 seemed unique

This game is exciting and I am so glad I went ahead and bought it.

I was all over the place during the closed beta because I went in blind and honestly wasn't expecting a fighting game. I was expecting to mash and swing about and crush some heads and I got reality checked hard in the duel mode.

I kept going back to it though. No matter how much I didn't feel like learning counters/combos/etc. I kept going back wanting to win duels. Fast forward to open beta and I was loving it. I love this game. I love watching people play it, I love practicing different characters, I just love it. Nothing else like this out there right now and I'm glad it came together because I really enjoy VandenBerghe's personality.

Man, I'm admittedly feeling like 'turtling' is a huge problem in the game already. Parrying feels a bit too powerful and ubiquitous. It's hard to really win by being aggressive.

Okey I will jump into it later today.

There's a lot of folks echoing this sentiment. I've got a feeling that we'll see some changes to stamina, as well as more changes to the heroes in the future.

I feel like the biggest problem is a lot of attacks hitstun you on parry. That means there's really no downside.

To me, the biggest thing the game needs is more chip damage.

That's why you feint

Feinting doesn't work against good players, man. It's especially bad for characters like berserker and raider, their feints suck.

High-level play is basically dozens of feints leading into attacks that get parried anyways. The person who aggresses, even when feinting, almost always loses.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Okay, Shoguki might of won me over after I homerun'ed a guy into a bonfire. Then off a castle, then down a pit. Think I really have to change how I play as this character, you have to be willing to eat damage for better trades.

Yeah he's really interesting to me so far. Need to really make that armor hit count but he does sooooo much damage if you play your cards right.

But man the stamina struggle is real. I also get run over when I'm outnumbered while I don't mind when I'm other people, the extra damage you take after your armor is gone shreds the fuck out of you.

Did some more matches with Valkyrie. Her Heavy->Shield Bash->Sweep is pathetic. Using a Sweep after a Shield Bash is a complete waste of stamina and pretty much guaranteed to miss against a competent player. Her heavy is slow too and easy to parry or block, so you'll probably get no damage from attempting that combo. On the other hand, a Sweep after a throw or headbutt is guaranteed to hit but does pretty much no damage and requires a Guard Break, which has terrible range.

So far, it seems like her only options are relying on Guard Breaks, which require you to get super close, or Light Attacks, which do little damage and are easily dodged by Assassins. She's pretty much like an Assassin without the mobility and speed. Hopefully I can discover some better tactics tomorrow.
Completely agree about the sweep after a shield bash. Though I find comboing the sweep after a headbutt to be similarly useless. Too much stamina drain, and it will knock your target back so far you can't follow up with anything other than that pouncing top light attack. Just not worth it.

About the only time I find the sweep reasonably useful is as a chain finisher. Heavy / light, light, sweep, side heavy will connect, and is the only way I've found to combo a couple heavy attacks.

Been trying to take advantage of that dodge block bleed, but the timing on that feels all over the place. The dodge has to be late enough for the block to hit, you have to be close, and the timing is strict enough after a successful block that I'm not sure you can reasonably hit confirm it. Which of course means if your dodge was early, or you aren't in range, you are left swinging a heavy attack with your pants down.

I want to love the Valkyrie... I love the aesthetic, I've always enjoyed spears and shields in the few games that include them, but damn, she feels like she has a lot of tricks but no way to capitalize on them.

Maybe people will figure out something new tomorrow. Only day one after all, can't write off a character that quickly!

And when you're fighting a longer ranger opponent, you can't even followup with a guard break after the parry (Unless I'm doing something wrong). I'm curious how the meta for high-level play will evolve.

Seems like this game needs a lot more refinement in the balance department. I'm gonna wait, see what the first set of tweaks is gonna be like

How impactful is the gear system on the gameplay?

Marvel

could never
Blocking and parrying in this game feels so good. Hell everything feels amd looks good, Ubisoft nailed the sound and animation.

I've been in love with this game since they first showed it at E3 2015. Played through one alpha and one beta and I'm loving it more and more...but I had to order an Elite controller. The standard controller doesn't really jibe with the control scheme. I hate taking my thumb off of the RS to guard break, evade, or cancel. Plus I want to increase the response time on my stance chances and heavy attacks.

Guys, a question: is there a day one patch on PS4 if you buy the physical version of the game? If yes, how big is it?
Thanks!

Finished chapter 1 of 3 in 1h45. So if the rest has a similar length: pretty short.

Didn't really feel the sp btw. Mp is where it's at

Yeah I just started it. I've got the game for free so I will play it through. Not my type of multiplayer game I think but I'll give it a try after the SP.

I played about five hours tonight. I enjoy it, but the netcode is killing the game for me. I was only able to play duels tonight because I would get an error for every other mode. Then the game was matching me against people from different continents. My last game I played against someone from Asia and I’m for Cali. The guy would lag all over the place and next thing I know is I took a shit ton of damage. So all I could do is just spam and win that way. Why they are using p2p I don’t know. The game just came out, so I’m hoping they fix it and it won’t be an issue in the future. I’d really hate to stop playing it because of connection issues.

i have deluxe edition but no crates for me... (i know where to look, they just aren't there... counter is 0 in menu)

Story mode on realistic difficulty is legit. Hope they add a "No Fight UI" PvP mode into the game (unless it's already in and I'm unaware).

So what do you guys think of the defensive meta forming at high level? Since all the offensive options in the game can be countered on reaction high level play seems to favor defence.

I feel it might only be a problem for the pc version since 60 fps makes it much easier to react.
