i'm not entirely certain but i think a desert might be a good place to look. But i haven't actually tested this yet because I'm still faffing around so i haven't actually gone into death mountain yet

I went to the desert and all I found there was yet more unbearable heat haha. But maybe I didn't look around long enough.

If it comes to it I'll buy/brew a bunch of potions, but I like to take my time if I can.

last piece is also in (location spoiler)
in a chest at the top of a huge waterfall just north, you have to take it out with the magnet

Oh, I'll have to go back for that. you're good people!

I've been so busy with BotW that I haven't had time for GAF. This is the Zelda game that I fantasized about as a kid. If they manage to work out the docked frame rate, it's pretty much perfect.

Could you be a bit more specific with regard to the clothes? I can't find any that protect from heat.

Let's see, head to the stable visible from the tower and a woman there will sell you 3 heat potions for 150.

In
Goron City
you can buy heat armor.

In some ways this game is kind of what I wished reboot Tomb Raider had been.

I didn't like TR2013 because it felt too generic and just YouTubed a run of ROTR. For starters I always thought if you wanted to do an open-world Tomb Radier -- a game about raiding tombs, that the best way would be a Zelda-like structure where you explore and bounce between investigating ruins and fighting enemies. But BOTW seems to have borrowed just the right amount of survival game elements to enhance an action adventure game like this. Ironically reboot TR bills itself as a survival game, but its survival elements like crafting and hunting are just rebrands of the same crafting and XP skinner box as a bunch of other games. Basically what I'm saying is new TR needed to have a more reactive, more open-ended world as well as a bigger focus on the actual tombs.

This is a much better game than the reboots by a mile. Not only do the survival elements actually matter, but the game never holds you by the hand like Tomb Raider does, but I agree completely. I can't believe I'm saying that Tomb Raider needs to be more like Zelda now lol.

Just spent about 30 minutes doing a run there only to get one-shotted by the big guy with the orb when he stands up and find out it doesn't autosave on the island. cool.

also how the fuck are you meant to get an orb into the sea shrine without playing tennis? ...oh, cryo, huh. fuck

I used the raft as a bridge for that bit.
I also cheesed the hell out of Hinok using the spit at the top of the hill. It took me more than 20 minutes to bomb him to death.

So I beat the first dungeon which actually had me stumped for a good minute. Gonna bite the bullet on the next three, but it was a fun challenge. After that, I decided to head south from the riverside stable and found the Bridge of Hylia. However, I made a better "discovery" that knocked my socks off:

A freaking oriental electric dragon rose up from Lake Hylia! I just stared in awe at it (and got fucked up by an electric attack after getting too close). How lucky was I to stumble across such a thing? And he was huge, like Shenron-sized! The way this game is able to make me marvel at it is unparalleled.

I want to go to
the lava mountain where there's a divine beast, but I suffer from spontaneous human combustion
. What do I need to do? A small push in the right direction rather than a full explanation would be nice.

I just got my first house and spotted a shrine in the distance so I rode over to it and
apparently there are shrine quests? This lady wanted me to avoid crushing her flowers, well I was watching tv so I kept up fucking up and eventually it triggered a cutscene where she went crazy and beat Link up lol .

It was a super funny and charming moment.

Seriously though, what's the deal with the Memory quest? Is it literally about just wandering around the giant map until I find those locations?

You need to find Armour, potions, or food.

Just found out that I can
feed my horse so it likes me more by just saying to myself "hey, I wonder if my horse would like an apple"
...this game omg!!

Got caught in a storm it was hilarious watching all the enemies weapons acting as lightning rods and murdering them. Until it was my turn of course

the painter dude tells you were to go, id imagine there are other npcs also

So it's sounding like this is a mission that I'll be completing as I do other quests, right? So I guess I should be exploring for the other main quests?

The game just kinda stopped giving me direction all of a sudden.

Installing the digital download on Wii U takes soooooo long. I'm ready to play! Of course I'll have to install the update too.

There's no way I can take on
the centaur guy at the coliseum
in the state of being right after leaving the plateau right?

Also does the digital version have lower load times than the cart because geez.

Ive been exploring a lot and cooking a lot but now... I don't have a clue where to go on my first dungeon.
Shrine, tower hunting is really fun so far.

Interesting.

So that demonic statue allows for heart and stamina exchange for some rupees. I guess I can go all out on hearts for now.

The painter in Kakariko will give you directions once you help him with a small sidequest. They're pretty clear, like "west of X, at the entrance to Y".

Afterwards, you'll find him at various stables across the region. He'll just tell you at that point.

I love how most of the areas are named after characters in the series lol

"Linebeck Island" pretty solidly cements the game in the Wind Waker timeline.

Just found out that I can

...this game omg!!

HOW?
I got off my horse and held an apple but I couldn't find a way to feed him.

Played all day and barely pushed the story forward at all. Explored, fought crazy enemies like a
wizzrobe
and some
assassins
, one of which had 3 boko skellies with them.

The fire rod I got from the earlier fight really came in handy there. Fucking devastation.

Villages are amazing and full of charm and beauty.

Upgrading gear really helps, as does upgrading weapon inventory space. I feel somewhat capable now.

I like the weapon decay a lot. It's just the right amount of resource management that's also a feedback loop directly from the encounters themselves. Link emerges from most fights a different fighter.

Tamed a really freaking wild horse. Very fast but still surly even at 90 bond. Guess that's why it was camped around a stationary guardian. That was fun.

This game feels so good to play and I can't stop falling in love with it. I cannot believe we can play this on a portable to boot.

I have never liked a game as much as I am liking this one.

HOW?
I got off my horse and held an apple but I couldn't find a way to feed him.

Hold the apple in front of them and move around a little. Some horses don't feel like eating at times, though.

I loved getting to that point. Took out a whole pack of Shock Arrow Lizalfos like a fucking boss.

Also got struck by lightning my first time. 8'D

I am so under-prepped right now it's ridiculous. Very little armor, although
the one complete set I have is at Level 3 (2-stars each).

I like the mindset the game has given me of "I have a bunch of great weapons, there's no way in hell I'm fighting these low level mobs when there isn't a treasure chest nearby and I'd have to trade one of my good weapons for their shitty ones"

Which means that when I'm not looking to trade for better weapons or kill monsters for their guts/drops I just run past them. In the above situation I was using shitty spears to stagger them then I ran past them. The Flash Link.

HOW?
I got off my horse and held an apple but I couldn't find a way to feed him.

I think it only works if your horse is comfortable enough. A more wild horse will just turn away. However, once it accepts you more, simply holding apples in the vicinity (aim the circle marker under the horse) and it should just automatically eat.

There's a stable south of Kakariko village, with a shrine nearby for easy access

Thanks but it's too late for my horse now. I wasn't able to get her away from the cliffs by the ocean but I documented some of the journey.

Here is where I first started to traverse the mountains and where i got stuck in some back rain I had to wait out
gdUlaoF.jpg
Here is after it finally cleared up and I climbed to a near by peak to scope out the best path to my destination *slight geography spoilers I guess*. I tried to go around the mountain to the right
After bolting up the path up the mountain and being bombarded by enemies, I realized I was going too high so I started to scale down the side of the mountain, ending with moments like this there I had nowhere to go but straight down, literally sliding down the rockface on the horse
After nearly freezing to death, I finally make it to a clearing at the bottom of the mountain but unfortunately there is no way back up and not many options for how to travel around the mountain. I'm surrounded by ocean on one side and a steep mountain on the other, but at least I had a brief moment of respite with a rainbow in the distance
After fruitlessly trying to scale the sides of the cliffs, my only option was to go down to sea level and hope there was some flat ground to travel around the mountain but my horse didn't want to swim and follow me through the ocean. She was probably just too tired and knew it was her time. I watched helplessly while I thought she might drown
After thinking she was lost and failing to put her out of her misery, she was eventually able to follow me to a small rock and climb on top. The sun had finally came out for the first time in what felt like an entire day and while I knew I had to say goodbye, we at least got to share one last sunset together while I fed her her favorite apples.
RIP Seafoam

I'll never forget you. :'(

Oh shit I haven't spoken of my favorite random/unnecessary moment so far. I'm walking through the snowy mountains heading towards this mountain top lake when I see a
giant fucking dark serpent/dragon
and I start shitting my pants. But I keep going. So I eventually have to do an encounter with this fucker and
it was really fun to shoot off the eyeballs, get a scale, etc

I have now seen my first uncorrupted
dragon
in the wild. Is there a reason to go engage them?

Just experienced the worst framerate slowdown in the game so far.

It was when you were going up to
Zoras Domain
and you had to fight like 20 Lizalfos that are shooting electric arrows at you. It started raining too and it started to stutter like crazy. Ugh.

I asked this earlier but no one responded.

Guys, where is the one at
Kakariko Village
I can't find it.

There is a path up the mountain side on the east side of the village, near the pumpkin patch. You should find an apple tree and a Cucco up there. A shrine should be immediately in sight. Go directly behind the shrine down into a forest grove. The Great Fairy Fountain is just straight ahead in a giant cactus. =P

There's also an npc looking for that
fountain
and you can knock a side quest out while finding it. He's around that same area, or was when I was there.
