You know when a game you were absurdly hyped for exceeds your expectations? This is one of those games. Finally had a chance to really put a shift in this evening and fuck me, is this game something special.

I'm not even that far, relatively speaking. Only just finished mincing around
Kakariko Village
and bought the Hylian Tunic set, but the music, the characters, the atmosphere and sense of adventure while exploring the world. I legit feel like a traveler/explorer, and it makes me giddy that I've got so much game left to enjoy and discover.

I have a question about Hateno Village. So there are these unlit torches around the village I figured that you can
light them up using the blue flame found nearby some sort of monument. Now I think I have lit up the majority of then.
Should something happen? If so, in that case I've probably missed out on some?

Its a main quest at the lab. Uncluding the torch outside but i dont know if they do something more

You probably should upgrade your equipment? Kakariko village and the other human village have better armors as well as the great fairy can upgrade them for cheap

I haven't actually done that. And now I remember I didn't even look for the great fairy. I should go back.

I climbed a mountain and parachuted in.

I only realized how difficult the passage up was on the way down.

But yeah, sometimes you just need to sneak around enemies if you don't want to get wrecked.

Yeah a lot of MGS in this too.

This is Zelda

Game Over is as frequent as You Died now

The game does a really bad job of communicating to you when you are underleveled or undergeared for a specific area. When you are dying in one hit then you are under leveled or you don't have the proper gear yet.

The run to
Zoras domain
is a big difficulty spike. But you could have just run past everything the whole way there.

There was that one narrow mountain pass with the
electric lizards
that was a real bitch, as they would one hit kill. Took them out mostly with bombs and some mad 36 level bone club I had picked up from a place too hard to stay in. Wrecked the club naturally.

You should get a quest from the Quest Destination in Hateno dealing with the blue flame.

The weapon durability is making me actively avoid combat. My weapon slot is filled with fairly unique and powerful weapons that I don't want to waste and don't want to drop for weaker weapons that I wouldn't mind wasting but that would make battles tougher, so I just run away from enemies that I can afford to run away from.

I really wish the weapons that break get put into a broken but repairable pile (a separate inventory window).

Just had an intense stealth/climbing moment. It's a fortress called
The Citadel
. I knew I wasn't strong enough to take on the enemies there, but I really wanted to activate the map tower. My hands were getting sweaty trying to climb the mountain while avoiding the enemies.

Fuck, this game is something else.
Did the same just now. Butts were clenched. Had to take a leap of fate to avoid death a few times.

I am now about 20 ish hours in. And I am still going around doing stuff randomly. *oh this looks cool, 1 min later.* oh shit a shine*.

It is a long time a game did this to me. Can barely recall actually...

You shouldn't worry about that,
later on you get a repairable trident that has 22 power which is equivalent to a 66 power axe, so just use whatever weapons you have.

12 hours in and I'm just leaving second village. More exploring than I've done in a long ass time.

Can someone spoil tag an answer for me. Are dungeons the worst dungeons of series? I've been doing shrines and I like them but I would hate for the dungeons to be three room shrines like someone told me. And do all shrines and dungeons have the same theme and ceiling every time? Thanks for answer without spoiling!

Damn apparently I played 14 hours in so far and I only got to Hatenao(spelling?) village. Have to pack up the game now because of school but will be back for spring break!
But with the pace I'm playing, I have doubts I can finish by then lol

The game not telling you that you are under-equipped for the region is a brilliant feature, not a flaw. So many open world games are watered down by level scaling and hand-holding. They want you to get rekt and either persevere or turn back. Would not have it any other way.

I wish all weapons had this feature though because there are cool weapons (aesthetically cool and ability wise cool) that I don't want to break.

A friend told me I can dye my clothes but where exactly is this? I can't seem to find it in Kakariko Village. I want my tunic to look the same as the hoody.

Are high level enemies just scattered all over the map or does it mean Im way too weak to be in that entire region?

Im at that Hateno beach quest and Im breaking 4-5 weapons just for one enemy. Should I bale out on this entire area?

EVENTIDE
ISLAND

I spent the last 2 hours in there and just
finished this mission in which you have to survive without your weapons and items and only use the Island resources...

I need to gather my thoughts but so far I am confident saying that this is one of my favorite areas in this game.

I... I am... OMG

'Dungeons' aren't worse, they're different. They're more freeform that past Zelda dungeons. Like multiple shrine puzzles scattered throughout the same location, which you can complete in your chosen order. Some of these puzzles utilize a unique 'dungeon' interation to solve them. As far as I can tell they aren't themed, but you can see outside of them to the location surrounding you, so there's a slight environmental theming going on
.

I hope that wasn't too spoilery.

The dungeons aren't that long, like maybe thirty or forty minutes, but they're distilled bliss. Also they do something no other Zelda dungeon has done before, truly taking advantage of the game being in 3D. It's worth it to see that alone.

^ only done the first dungeon but I loved it, especially because it's - like pretty much everything in the game - is a departure from the old template.

One thing that's been bugging me is that I can't find crickets for one particular sidequest. You'd think those things would be everywhere.

Anyone have an idea? For the Hateno sidequest.

Has anyone found any of the materials for 2 star upgrades on armor pieces?

I've upgraded everything I've come across to 1 star but apparently I've found zero of the materials for 2 star upgrades.

This is like...exactly what I want from video games.

How is this real

Lol, I'm getting the same feelings when playing this game. We've known about this game for so long, I've been excited for it and thinking about it a lot. But now when it's here I just can't believe it really is all that which I had wanted and hoped for, even down to the tiniest details.

For example, I just encountered
a member of the Yiga Clan for the first time just wandering about and seeing some guy waving at me from the side of the road. That moment when I realized this guy is tricking me good and wants me dead and we're gonna actually have this pretty epic fight right there and then...man. It's the kind of surprising and twisted moments that I love so much in the Zelda-series. It reminds me of stuff like Ingo locking you inside Lon Lon Ranch after winning the horse race in OoT, or basically MM in general. It has those same delicious vibes.

Overall, this is the kind of game I usually dream about, but don't actually believe I'll ever get. And it's real. How could all this come together so perfectly?

Got a question about a Hateno village sidequest :
I picked the Sunshroom outside of the lab, does anyone know where I can find another one to complete the sidequest?

Buy Hylian equipement set in shop
Upgrade it at fairy fountain that is behind Hateno and you should be good
Try also to do enough shrine to unlock 1 heart.
Do you mean the shop in Hateno for the armour? It doesn't say cold resistance next to the armour... does this mean I'm not cold proof anymore even though the armour goes from level 1-4? Thanks!

Shit i just did a really hard (for me at least) shrine. To begin with i had to go to a fucking mountain near it to enter it from the top, then it was a messy puzzle with water level and i ended finishing it by doing some trickery with the bow and falling at the last second into a door. I'm not even sure that was what i was meant to do lol.

Also there was 2 secret chest in this one. Couldn't get the second one.

I was a fool for thinking I could save my weapons for their cool factor and never have to use them. Lynel took every weapon I had until I was reduced to using Fire Arrows.

I just did the first dungeon. They're better than shrines, but don't really feel like traditional Zelda dungeons. I'm guessing they're all gonna look pretty similar too.
