I'm at work and all I can think about is getting home and playing more.

It's awful. Half the time is me counting down the hours, the other half is planning out my next move.

I think I'm going to hit up the shrine near Lake Floria I couldn't get to before for lack of stamina/climb speed, then wind my way back down the coast, explore the south-central region en route to the first Divine Beast in the southwest.

It'll be another week before I manage to get there though, at my current progress rate...

Just a quick question. Am I supposed to do something or can I do anything with the minerals I find (ore, opal, etc)? Or should I just sell it? I'm currently hoarding them In case they can be used for crafting.
Used for crafting and armor upgrades. Sell them if you have an excess but maybe keep a few of each just in case.

Not sure about the rest but amber should be safe. I find them everywhere. Even in treasure chests and I'm like "Really?"

Crafting/armor purchase, but they respawn with time so there's no finite supply. Just remember the major "mining zones" and you can easily have tens of them in no time.

I think the nodes respawn with the Blood Moon.

Someone answered a billion years ago because this thread moves so fast, but they said that it's gotta be my tv for why this is lagging (just a bit compared to handheld). I'm curious, is there something I'm missing that would be an optimal setting for the Switch? I get no lag like that on PS4 or XB1.

I just got the
Photo Module
,
Sensor+
and the
Handbook
.

Time to snap a pic of every single item in my inventory ;-;

I think I probably spent 7 hours plus in the Gerudo zone from the point I first got to the shrine at the far right, and deciding to climb the mountains on a whim, all the way until I finally just got into my very first real dungeon. So many adventures. So many memories. So much variety in one area. This sort of progression is better than any dungeon. It honestly feels like without the game guiding me much, simply presenting opportunities, many of which being optional, I already got like 3 dungeons worth of Zelda-isms before even getting to the actual dungeon. The gift that keeps giving. Holy shit.
100% agreed. I first started noticing this in Minish Cap, I think... where overworld sections felt just as satisfying to traverse and play as dungeons. I'm having so much fun in the overworld that I feel like when I finally do reach my first dungeon, it's going to be a distraction from what I really want to be doing. LOL

So I got the Sheika sensor+ and did the sunshroom quest... Is there a way to remove the Sunshroom from the sensor? I know you can select something else in the menu but I'm not seeing an option to just disable the specific item.

I don't want to turn off the whole thing since I want to find shrines but the constant beeping for the shrooms is annoying.

Question: Do treasure chests ever respawn? In particular, the ones unlocked from defeating enemy camps. So far it doesn't seem like they do, a little disappointing if they never did. A lengthy respawn time is more than reasonable though. Anyone know if they ever do?

Holy shit, the trek to the [first dungeon location spoilers]
Zora's domain
was so cool. You cover so much ground and really feel like you're on some LOTR adventure to get to your destination. Finding camp sites along the way to cook and places under cover where you can start fire. I thought I would try out the dungeon last night but just getting to the town was an adventure in itself and I called it a night. I want to go home and play so bad.

Don't think they do.

Press - to go to the map, then Y. You can choose between your Hyrule Compendium target or Shrines. Or turn it off.

I just climbed the cliffs and paraglided to the city. I wish I hadn't.

Just started playing. Fooled around for about an hour, climbed temple of time, wacked the old wanderer with a torch etc.. Ended the session getting one shoted by a blue blumpkin.

Game is gorgeous.

The sensor only senses one thing at a time. So if you put it back to shrines it won't beep for the sunshrooms anymore

This is actually amazing design, I think. There is such a huge variety of weapons, and many of them are tucked away in delightful places (found a claymore stuck into a rock on the top of a mountain, for example) that I really welcome the mechanic, even if I was super hesitant about it starting out.

It encourages you to use everything at your disposal, and to pick your battles carefully. There's no reason to be afraid of losing everything, as that is actually fairly difficult in my opinion. I'm generally so flush with weapons that I find myself discarding them on a regular basis.

You know, to an extent I agree great post, but some weapons you just want to be attached to. I end up displaying the cools ones in my home rather than using them.

Just found out that you can use magnesis to push something against the mast of your boat to move it faster.
It's way better than the Korok Leaf (even tho the optimal way is going backward so you better know where you're going, at least with a chest).

No treasure chest ever respawn.

WHAT AN ORDEAL. Accidentally ordered two copies, had to cancel the one from Amazon and luckily a promotional code let me buy the digital copy for the same price.

Then heard that the game doesn't allow USB flash drives on Wii U, which I've always used exclusively (worked fine for me). Worried I won't be able to play now, but worst comes to worst I'll have to go out and find a harddrive...

I just beat the Ruta.
Wow, there were some magnificent little puzzles. I couldn't figure out for the longest time how to make the stasis puzzle work, until I realized YOU CAN CONTROL THE ELEPHANT TRUNK FROM THE MENU. Fucking brilliant. The whole thing was so well done.

There are some lame shrines, but some shrines where the puzzle design is just SO GOOD that it's so worth it. I love this game so much!

I can't get Epona to spawn using the Smash Link amiibo. Tried it about 30 times by reloading my game. it does drop different items... but haven't seen Epona, not even once.

Would really like to get her.

I have seen so many people get her on the first try like it's nothing. I don't get it.

Haha, I plan on doing the same... I'm trying to keep the katana I found in a shrine for as long as possible... only using it when I'm in REALLY dire straits. It adds a whole new element to the game, and I think it's a lot of fun!

Are there any items which once they break you can never find again?
I'm asking because of the photo taking thing. I am worried there will be one-off items that I might forget to take a picture of and then miss forever.

Isnt it random?

I'm in love with the game, I didn't expect it to, but it hasn't disappointed me one bit. I really wish I had the week off work to get into it even more.

I don't think I'm making much use of the cooking element, and sort of wish there was a cookbook of sorts.

No spoilers but here goes, I've been following the first bits of the story, at the Zoras now. If I'm having real trouble even hurting a big enemy there, should I come back later or figure out a trick to beat him or do I have to git DS levels of gud?

lmao I tried fighting it about 15 times at least, then thought yeah, let me just sneak around it instead. The thing is terrifying.

This game is incredible. So many little details that make it feel like they went above and beyond when developing it.

The audio is especially nice on my 5.1 system, with great surround sound and mixing. I love the subtle piano when you're running through a big open field, only to transition into a theme when you reach a settlement. So good.

The key to embracing the weapon system in this game is to stop getting attached to your basic-ass claymores and clubs and broadswords and spears. The game doesn't want you to grow attached to your enemy weapon pick-ups. They're a dime a dozen. Let it go, like Elsa. The only weapon you should care deeply about is the Master Sword.

Once again people at least early on you can sell every gem. I just highly suggest you hold onto the diamonds. It's tempting to sell them but you'll thank me later. You use it to
make new champion weapons you get via the story
. As to the other gems I can only assume that for late game upgrades to armor you might need it or something.

I found weapons Zen after spending a few hours on Eventide Island.

After that I was like "are weapons even REAL man?!"
