@realDonaldTrump

I feel sure that my friend @RandPaul will come along with the new and great health care program because he knows Obamacare is a disaster!

Good lord, he's staking his (non existent) political capitol on a DOA healthcare plan that cannot pass. It's like he's operating in a bizzaro world where he's doing the exact opposite of what Obama did, and losing every step of the way.

Why marry this bill? Why not publicly demand Ryan rewrite parts of it, or ask him to work directly with the WH to come up with a more comprehensive draft that includes the things Trump actually campaigned on. He's jumping into a battle for no reason other than "to win." And he's not going to win.

Trump doesn't want to have to do any work. Remember Trump supposedly had his own secret plan back in January -- then just said Ryan will come up w/ something

also, Rand Paul already has a healthcare proposal as shitty as it is

I mean, he's owning it. It's Trumpcare. I don't see any reason not to tie it to him. Calling it Obamacare instead of Democare didn't suddenly absolve 2010 Democrats of responsibilities of passing it.

Demnocare would have been a pretty good name though.

I really like Spencer's explanation: our pile of paper is smaller than Obamacare's.

Like, yeah, cause you just replaced a couple of pages.

Evil vs Evil. Let them destroy themselves while we all grab the popcorn

Frankly the white supremacists should be easier to beat electorally. A more virulent support base, but it's also harder to hide the evil behind the coded language like the corporatists do.

Did you guys all forget just how dysfunctional the House GOP was for the last six years? They could barely pass a budget, and now you expect them to agree on a major piece of complex legislation?

How about making healthcare more affordable by having the healthcare industry and insurance Industries lower their prices on the care and coverage that people receive? And also, why not have the pharmaceutical companies lower their cost of their medicines?

Oh yeah people don't want to help other people and they'd rather make a buck off of their misery.

Greed sucks.

It's like we are fighting 2 battles here:

1) the fascist authoritarian propaganda
2) the ultra conservative policies that will doom the country

I don't know man. A lot of people don't seem to mind the white 'supremacism' nowadays.

What's great about that pic is the fact that if I was writing an SNL sketch mocking that conference, I would make the table comically small and a little too far away from the podium, but they already did that. I haven't seen a Republican reach that awkwardly since Marco Rubio was thirsty.

It's a shitty one-two punch. Poor policies favoring large corporations haven't made the bottom half of Americans richer. Then they turn around and blame it on minorities.

It's been key to peeling away the support of college-educated whites. Not fast enough to offset the GOP as a whole, but it's a noticeable trend.

Funny, that's literally the opposite philosophical and political position of Paul, Ryan and countless other conservatives.

Right. They'll argue that we live in a capitalist society and it's a free market, blah blah blah.

"Everybody" that "works hard" needs to be a big fat cat, live in a penthouse with gaudy gold-plated toilets, get waited on hand and foot by minorities, take extravagant golf trip vacations, eat steak dinners with ketchup on them, etc...

Good to see Melissa breaking out the dollies.. lol

Only reason it is smaller is it was rushed.. does the last page still say "placeholder?"

If the Democratic party can get Latinos to turn out at the same rate as African Americans they would absolutely crush the GOP. A fiery Catholic Latino in the vein of JFK would be the worst nightmare of the GOP. That man has to be out there somewhere.

The whole problem with healthcare in our country is that free market doesn't exactly go along with healthcare. No one is a voluntary entrant into the healthcare market and if people could freely choose, no one would ever choose to get sick or need a doctor in any way.

There are sufficiently few hispanic democrats so as to be able to make a list the people you might be talking about:

Xavier Becerra (House Democratic Caucus Chair from 2013-2017, current California AG, age 60, a little too old to do the governor/senator -> president pathway)
Tony Cardénas (House rep, 3rd term, 53, would have to run for senator sometime soon)
Julian and Joaquin Castro (Upsides: Young, downsides: don't actually speak spanish, haven't done anything, all flash/no substance)
Eric Garcetti (Mayor of Los Angeles, at age 46 has a clear runway for a Governor -> President run)
Bob Menendez (Senator, New Jersey, a little old and not charismatic, probably going to jail for being corrupt)
Tom Perez (DNC Chair, former Labor secretary, I don't think ever likely to run for President)
Bill Richardson (Former gov. New Mexico, a little old now, missed his chance when he ran in 2008 and lost)
Ken Salazar (former Senator of Colorado, Sec. Interior, a little old)
Hilda Solis (former Sec. Labor, congress, LA County Board of Supervisors)
Antonio Villaraigosa (former LA mayor, about to run for Governor of California)

I don't think anyone on this list should run in 2020. I've bolded the people I think should consider running at some point if the timing is right. I'd volunteer for Hilda. I find her very impressive.

So... under this plan, what's to stop a person from not having health insurance, then getting sick, then getting health insurance at the increased rate for a couple months while they're sick, and then leaving their health insurance plan again afterward?

Small on paper is better that's their argument really . Really these props and shit it's like they're trying to talk to kids ....

Good lord .

So basically it's time for California to atone for Nixon and Reagan and save the country. I've been beating that drum for a while and from what I've read I'm all aboard Eric Garcetti for President. He has smartly locked in on running for Senate next year. I don't think 2020 is too soon for him.

I like the Castro brothers, but I don't think they have what it takes to run for the Presidency (Senate yes though). I also really like Ruben Kibuen out of Nevada, but unfortunately he was born in Mexico. However, I hope he tries to run against Dean Heller for Senate next year. He can't become president, but otherwise he has a bright future in the party. The more Latino leaders in the party the better.

I predict that he will, whenever this finally comes to a vote. Or at least be threatening to. Trump will be bearing down on it, he's already gone there.

This bill can't be filibustered due to a legislative maneuver. From Mother Jones:

Mother Jones said:
This early warning spells serious trouble for Republican hopes of repealing Obamacare. Republicans plan to pass their repeal bill through a budget reconciliation process in which only a simple majority is necessary, so they don't have to worry about a Democratic filibuster. But with just 52 Republican senators (and few possible Democratic defections), Republicans probably can't pass a bill without these four senators.
