Calling it here: it'll be back before the end of the year. Hell, I'll be shocked if it's not back before the end of May.

It's probably not.
They go to recess in April, hold town halls and tell their constituency that they couldn't manage what they promised in the first 100 days with the GOP in power across the board. They have the ball, there's no dems to blame. There's no second chances. 2018 is coming too soon, no one will talk huge reforms during a midterm year.

You cry foul for nearly a decade and choke when the chance comes up. There's a reason why the WH is refusing to talk about it and saying they're simply moving on. The canary is dead and everyone realized it's empty rhetoric.

HFC will probably still push for it, but everyone else is cowed at this point.

Just got this on my iPad, it got a hearty chuckle out of me

I've never seen BBC News' breaking alerts editorialise/snark like this. Ever.

A BBC quote, likely from that same story:

For the first time in 11 years, Republicans control the presidency and both chambers of the Congress.

There are 44 more Republicans than Democrats in the House of Representatives.
Republicans have been vociferously calling for repeal of President Barack Obama's healthcare reforms for seven years.

The American Health Care Act was the first major piece of legislation pushed by the White House and the Republican-controlled Congress, a key political test early in the president's term, when he should be at the height of his power and party cohesion at its strongest.

In spite of all of this, Mr Trump, House Speaker Paul Ryan and the Republicans running Washington could not get the job done.

For Republicans Friday wasn't just bad. It was a disaster.

Not pulling their punches.

Don't you people see what's happening here? Liberty and the American way of life has itself gone before a death panel and its fate has been decided.

The long standing dream most Americans have of dying penniless in the gutter from a preventable illness becomes but an ever shrinking glimmer in the eyes of our nation's children.

And again, nothing more will come, at least not this year or next. And after that there will be another midterm.

It's possible that Trump could shelve this for now and turn his attention to tax reform or trade deals or whatever in the interim.

And the republicans are never going to be onboard with a plan more liberal than Obamacare (which was already pretty conservative and was based on Romneycare), but the democrats won't settle on anything more conservative than it
I don't think the issue is going away, though. Trump forced many a Republican to do many unRepublican things during the campaign, just as he made many a Democrat do unDemocratic things. There is still a lot of time left on the clock to change the framing of the debate and generate more than a few surprises.

I'm seeing the same pattern from the campaign, and I'll say again - take him lightly at your own peril.

Democrats are losers!

Ryan pulls GOP health care bill following call from Trump
Trump appears to take a page from 'The Art of the Deal' in health care negotiations
In Trump's comments to the press from the Oval Office -- where he was joined by Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price -- he singled out efforts from congressional Democrats to block the bill, going so far as to call the Senate and House Minority Leaders Chuck Schumer, D-New York, and Nancy Pelosi, D-California, "the losers" in the situation.

If this is how Trump is going to reach across the aisle, he can kiss any future negotiations with the Dems goodbye forever. This dude is making all the wrong moves and it's the best I could have ever hoped for after the depressing election last year.

They've literally said they're shelving it. And the problem remains that they're own party is too divided on what they want from a healthcare bill. If Trump can't get Republicans to agree on healthcare, what the fuck makes you think he can get Democrats to agree?

And the fact is this was their best shot, since they didn't have to worry about a democratic filibuster this time.

I previously have talked with people who feel like Trump has gotten a raw deal from all the immediate opposition from groups, media and so forth. Regardless if you believe that or not, this was no the media, not opposition groups, not liberals. He had to make deals (his own wheelhouse) with his OWN party.

We gotta a betting pool on how low his approval rating goes? Because I want in on that action.

Imagine how apeshit Trump goes as every news channel calls him a loser, minus Fox News of course. He's spending the weekend in DC, so you know he'll be glued to the tv.

So will be the next course of action be to strangle the ACA via other means and make Trumps statements of the ACA failing a self fulfilling prophecy?

Nah, real talk the next scary moment is going to be during the debt ceiling. Bet money on some crazy motherfuckers taking Trump/GOP to task and risking a collapse of the economy of "AMERICAN VALUES"

To be fair Trump promised that America will win tremendously with him. I consider the repel of the Muslim ban and what happened today as some great wins for America. The only thing that Trump got wrong was that America is winning against him not with him.

He's shown his ability to influence his party and the Democrats before. Give it time.

It's not a guarantee that they'll have to worry about it any time soon. The Democratic leadership is using the same strategy it used to lose against Trump the first time. Doing the same thing and expecting a different result is not a good principle in general. There's still lots of time to course correct, though.

It's quite amazing that Trump is blaming the Democrats for the failure of this bill. Bitch, you couldn't even get all Republicans to vote Yes on this.

What else is he going to do? I mean the 'explode' comment is classic Trump, if VERY not recommended, but its not like he's going to accept defeat. And he can't resubmit the bill, so he's going to deflect. Its the first, classic politician move I've seen him do, and that doesn't bode well for him as his supporters like him being a non-politician.

Can't wait to see how Lord is going to spin this shit. Just wait... won't have a negative thing to say.

Jesus, gimme some crow, Lord with some savage criticism of Ryan, and praise for Pelosi.

This lady on MSNBC is straight slaying:

The Rustbelt voted for Trump because they hated Obama but liked the Care. They voted to take away Medicaid from illegals and brown people but thought they'd keep theirs.

Edit: her name is Joy Reid.
