I'm pretty sure the "space ship" launch fails in C, but succeeds in D. I might have mistaken the cutscenes though.
That has no impact on Ending E though. They both lead into it.

Wait what? I didn't know this. I guess it's because I got D first? Did you need both C and D to get the prompt for E?That has no impact on Ending E though. They both lead into it.

It might be worth noting that starting E from chapter select tosses you into ending C.
So wait, if you chose to go as 9S in D, but E still happens, that means there are two 9S out there somewhere eventually?
Spoooooky
Actuaaaaaally that's a good point. What is there to revive if 9S leaves Earth?
Given how deliberate the rest of the game is, I think it's worth acknowledging, even if it isn't treated as gospel. It had to be one or the other.
so in the grand scheme of things what were adam and eve useful for?
like why do they exist?

They're supposed to be the Machines' attempt at birthing a counter to the Androids.
I always saw it as just their attempt to get even closer to humanity, but that could explain why they had such advanced combat abilities.
The machines started to introduce randomness into their own "advancement" in order to simulate a kind of "evolution" whereby machines specialize in this or that. Pascal and his kind are one result of the splintering of their progress. Adam and Eve are another.
I just did ending E and the notification popped up saying if you would like to save someone else in the game at the cost of your own save file. Of course I said yes thinking this is yet another morality tale and I'm not really going to use my save files. But now all I see are empty slots. Tell me I really didn't lose all the game progress.
The game wasn't playing around.I just did ending E and the notification popped up saying if you would like to save someone else in the game at the cost of your own save file. I mean the game gave you heaps of warnings that they ain't joking.
...
Damn it! I lost everything y'all!
Have new title screen to show for it but that's it.
I'm still in kind of shock right now. I can't believe game actually did it. Because game provided this choice in the context of me helping out another player I didn't think game was going to delete everything IRL.
Is there ever an in-game explanation for why the androids look the way they do? I'm reading through the archive but can't find it.

I agree with this although they could also merge C and D for a sequel. So if his next game spins out of one of these endings, my guess would be D.
Despite the fact that, yeah, A/B --> C --> E seems like the canon path, if there is one.
Thoughts?

I think it's cute how there is an in-game vendor who sells you trophies but it kinda sucks cause a platinum trophy is now meaningless.
It was always meaningless tho

Not really. I like being a completionist for games I really enjoy and a platinum trophy is good way to signify the effort it takes.
Yeah, and I love how Yoko Taro mocks the whole system.

Yea but I mean... you can still do them though instead of buying them if you want to put in said effort. Your stance is that doing so is now suddenly pointless because now you can just buy them.
But from my perspective, it still would be pointless even if that feature didn't exist. After all, there's no actual value to it other than the joy/satisfaction/etc. that some people get from doing the arbitrary challenges. So with that being said, I don't see why you couldn't just pretend it doesn't exist and get the Platinum through orthodox methods if it means that much to you.
So then you got the joke.
So, for my midterm essay in my Media Theory class, I am going to write about this game and how philosophical concepts can be encoded in gameplay (which goes against some of the articles I read, which say you cannot encode philosophical concepts in gameplay).
Wish me luck, Nier-Gaf
So who helped the first guy who finished ending E? Can you give up and still offer your save for help?!
