I still believe in a December 2017 release
for Europe and Oceania. ;)
. It's highly possible that they're localising alongside development, and Mitsuda is already recording the music!

NOE seems to outsource localisation efforts now IIRC, at least of the most part. I think Xenoblade might have been outsourced originally anyway, but still.

I think NOE being far superior to NOA was mostly just a seventh gen thing.

I still don't really understand why people want a console port of Undertale

That game runs on a toaster
Mostly just for the novelty of having it on a Nintendo console, tbh.

Also for potential amiibo support. So they can reveal that the Little Buddies figurines were secretly amiibo the whole time!

Is it wrong for me to hold out for Monster Hunter Double Cross coming to the west? I feel as though because Monster Hunter Generations was announced at around this time last year, we could see the sequel announced on Wednesday for a release later this year.

While I know tha this is all focused on Arms and Splatoon 2, I feel as though Nintendo needs to give us some info on other small games that are coming out between now and E3/summer if there's anything to be said there. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for either of these two games, but if they are saying that there's info regarding Switch and 3DS, I hope we get to see a fair some of info before we turn focus to the other two games.

Looks like Sine Mora EX was rated for Switch.

Here. I wonder if it might be included in a sizzle reel?

Edit: I don't know if that's new news or not. Someone should make a new thread if so,

This direct basically exists to cover the games releasing between now and e3. If MHXX is coming, its not coming that soon, so no chance they would announce it now.

Bare in mind too that because we are about two months away from E3, Nintendo is going to be holding back their bigger titles for June too. As such, I doubt we'll see anything related to Xenoblade 2, Mario Odyssey, or any other high end reveals. Best I can imagine (and this is a big stretch) is if they decide to reveal a character or two for Fire Emblem Warriors, and that is already a big "IF")

Maybe if anything else, we'll probably see more Indie titles that will be coming out in the next month or so.

Super Mario Sunshine HD for Summer release to hold us over til Super Mario Odyssey.
According to Eurogamer, Super Mario Sunshine is supposed to be amongst the first GameCube Virtual Console games (alongside Melee & Luigi's Mansion), so I don't think it'll get an HD remake if Eurogamer's sources were on the money.

I wasn't aware of this. Do you reckon it would affect localisation and whether it would be concurrent with development then? I presume it would mean localisation would happen later than if Nintendo was hypothetically localising the content as Monolith Soft completed it.

I mean if there is a GameCube virtual console, rumoring a Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion game is repeating an obvious certainty.

It's time we finally hear about this at E3, if true. Didn't Emily and someone else say it is coming?
Both Emily Rogers & Eurogamer backed the Mother 3 rumor, with the former stating that it was shelved for use on the Switch. If Mother 3 is coming to the Switch via GBA VC, we'll hear about it at E3 (if they reveal their Virtual Console plans by then).

Fair enough, but like I said before: Back in March when we got the "Spring Direct" we got the confirmation for Generations when it was going to be out July 15th (a month after E3). I'm not saying that will mean that we'll see a summer release of Double Cross should it appear on Wednesday, but that is a hopeful wish of mine. Like you said, there is probably no chance we'll see it announced and if it is coming out, we're going to have to wait even longer to get that confirmation.

...

Honestly though if I had to choose, I'd rather get a confirmation on MH5 for Switch announced, but something like that probably won't get said until either E3 or even the TGS.

Sure, but if it's over in 12 months, and they're not releasing another game, that's still not an astonishing situation for the game long term.

I'd rather they have some kind of monetization plan and then support it throughout the generation, unless as previously mentioned, they just intend to keep releasing new ones.
I'd rather pay $60 than to have an awful progression system.

I still don't really understand why people want a console port of Undertale

That game runs on a toaster

Many PC-averse players don't enjoy playing games on a PC. There is an intangible difference between PC and console play that, for console-centric players, makes playing on a console significantly more enjoyable.

It could run on anything. But if it's not a Switch/PS4/Vita, it's not "right" and they won't enjoy it as much as they would.

I will probably wait forever for a console version of Undertale because it doesn't feel right to play a Mother-style RPG on a PC, even though I understand fully that it is a game designed around PC hardware and would need to be adapted some way to serve dedicated gaming machines.

So I would love a Switch port. I also think it's the console the game is most likely to come to. I hold onto hope.

It doesn't help either that a large part of their localisation team was axed a couple of years ago. Which is a shame because they really do deliver the better (or less 'their own') localisation out of the two regions in regards to more serious games.

Hopefully gamecube games will run at higher resolution like the N64 games did.

But i think virtual console will get its own direct.

odd they aren't doing anything about mario kart 8 deluxe...

What is there to show at this point though? We already know what the game is offering, and the special things that are going to be in Deluxe. Unless if Nintendo decides to reveal brand new tracks that we have never seen before, it is most likely that we're going to see nothing Mario Kart related outside of a small reminder that it is coming out April 28th.

This is pretty much what I expect, except I doubt all three of those 3DS titles are so close as to be ready for a date, especially with FE Echoes holding the first-party fort for May. We might get a season/month window, like Fall 2017 for Pikmin.

I could see some dates being nailed down for the next wave of known indie releases as well, and maybe confirmation of a third-party localization for 3DS like the latest Monster Hunter. Amiibo, too (though not the remaining ones for SSB). Otherwise, this is well in line with past Directs, particularly before E3, and it's not like they're running a single-game E3 this year like they did in 2016. It's enough to live with for the next two months, especially if they make a convincing push for Arms. An available-now surprise could just as easily be an Arms demo.

Wonder which part of May they'll launch ARMS in? I'd assume the end just because of Mario Kart.

And maybe more Golbal Testfire dates for Splatoon? Or maybe a date for that too, assuming it's going to come out in the next 3 months (since that's how they usually pace direct-to-release for stuff like this). So late June or early July.

I doubt we see BotW DLC info until E3 at the earliest.

My prediction...

3DS: Pikmin, Ever Oasis, Yokai Watch 3,Miitopia, Monster Hunter XX

Switch: Arms, Splatoon 2, and BOTW DLC

Maybe Virtual Console and Online Service talk.

The nature of the summer DLC would make a very underwhelming E3 showcase, unless it's somehow much more exciting than they've made it sound.

We'll probably see something about the story DLC around then, though.

Sweet, look forward to hearing what makes Splatoon 2 new. Hoping for some secret unrevealed feature tbh lol. If not I still love the game, I guess I just wished for a bit more out of a sequel, especially as the levels they've revealed so far aren't very exciting.

Also hoped to get sold on ARMS, I've given it little attention up to now but I'm sure it'll be great.

The June part of May

So, new topic.

It's Kirby's 25th. A game is inevitable. What do you want and what do you expect? For me the answer to both is Crystal Shards 3D.
