Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

All this OG XBOX talk.

We all thought 360 BC on Xbox One was impossible (or improbable at best).

The same is often said about OG Xbox.

Could MS deliver it?

Rare Replay and the work they did to 'port' the 360 games helped MS build the emulator for the Xbox One.

Could Phantom Dust do the same for OG XBOX?

Am I setting myself up for disappointment?

please?

I bought it when it was on sale a while back in hopes that it will eventuality happen.

I played Conker: Live & Reloaded on the OG last night and was surprised at just how good that game still looks, at least on a CRT. A shame it wasn't part of Rare Replay.

Likely my fav. Conkers game. I remember playing for hours on xbox connect...(xbox connect was like a free online way to play on the og xbox back in the day, not sure if still exists. basically youd log into a server on your computer and then move over to your xbox on the same network and the server would pop up in your L.A.N. server list) i was like 14-15 years young and my parents wouldn't pay for online but i needed other people to play conkers (and battlefront) with....come to think of it both games had somewhat similar MP.

OG Xbox emulation on XBO is technically easy.

It is the IP licensing that would cost $$$.

Would be SP and local MP only tho as the OG Live is no more.

Better maps than MW 1/2?

I always preferred IW CODs over Treyarch in almost every aspect.
Yes overall I would say it has the best maps. I really don't think there is a bad one in the bunch. Even Nuketown can be really fun even though it is so small. I could play raid and hijacked all night long and never get bored of them.

Even the worst maps in BO2 are about as good as the decent maps in from any other COD. The DLC is really good too.

BO2 was too much spray and pray for my tastes, and I hated how they tried to force us that crap 3-lane map design when it clearly wasn't working in COD.

I was interested in playing Dust: An Elysian Tale and just saw that it is on 360! Is it compatible with XB1? And if not, any word on whether it will become so?

Ugh.
Please STOP posting original Xbox gifs and boxart. ...Its hitting me right in the nostalgia pangs and causing me to dream dreams that cannot be...

I think OG Xbox would be ports if anything, not actual direct emulation. Hopefully with the work they have done on Phantom Dust they have developed a simple pipeline for converting the games.

Surely they have the licenses in place already form Horizon 3 and Forza 6, Horizon 1 got the BC treatment

I imagine those games pushed the hardware in many ways that require more than standard BC work.

As for licenses, I don't know. Would love to seem them, though.

Did the older Forza Motorsport games have licensed music?

Hardware being pushed? You do know Horizon is probably pushing the 360 to it's absolute limits so I really don't think that's a problem.

Sure, but from what I can gather from the podcasts, the emulation is customised on a per game basis (at least in many cases). The solid 60fps Forza Motorsport games could be taking up every scrap of resource on the 360. How efficient they are at ddoing so doesn't matter.
