final boss really was
garbo compared to splat 1 which was basically your classic final exam boss

this had bits and pieces of hype but half the mechanics disappeared into the ether

this is especially bad considering every single boss beforehand was dope as fuck

My first ( I believe) win ;) it only took me to level 6..

( had this posted in the wrong thread)

i wish the salmon run end of game scores would slow the fuck down. can barely read any of it before it asks if you want to join another game.

On vacation but managed to download and play a few hours in handheld mode before the battery died (should have brought charger arghh), plays amazing. Such a smooth online experience so far. Really liking what I've played of the new maps and Salmon Run feels like a perfect addition to get some different flavor of gameplay in there. New weapons/specials seem to have good balance.

One complaint is that I was unable to play with motion controls while laying back in bed, view wouldn't center far enough down. Not sure if this is a technical issue that can't be fixed but it meant I either had to sit upright or play without motion controls.

Super fun, super addictive. Not really a MP dude, but I took a shot on this. I tried SP for a bit, then dove in to MP and had a blast. Did some Salmon Run.
Game rules.

Hi, are there interesting point of view about gyro controls vs. normal controls on handled mode ? (Learning curves, advantages etc)

Gyro seem unatural (ofc) for a beginner and I can't play lying in my bed with them (also wondering how it'll play in public transit or in a moving car?) I

Just had a two hour stint where I basically won a majority of my matches and carried my teams to victory in near enough all matches.

I love this game so much and yet there's a very good chance it won't even be in my top five for the year such is the quality of other games (easily top ten for sure, though).

Have you try Rank Battle? Turf War is comparatively the worst and easiest mode in the whole game.

If you try it and took the lead at every match, you are a really good player.

Really enjoy Turf War, but the Tower game type just seems like a cluster fuck, maybe I'm missing something.

it is a clusterfuck, but the trick is to make progress within that clusterfuck

i haven't tried it yet with checkpoints but back in the day getting a ride all the way to the enemy goal was a fuckin rush

Just gonna play some turf war before I go to slee...

Oh look, it's a quarter till 5 am.

I'm going to be scared of my hours after 10 days.

i thought oh yeah motion will never work in handheld

turned it off

felt like garbage

turned it on and was doing much better again.

of course i have probably like 200+ hours on splat1, so

Salmon run on night with fog is insane lol!

I was also able to get all 3 costume pieces from my Splatoon 1 amiibo at level 8, not sure about Splatoon 2 ones yet cus Amazon is being a dick and shipping them on the 28th.

Really really having fun with this, I haven't even bothered with ranked or league yet, regular and salmon run are so addictive on their own >_<

Finished the single player. Last boss
level design was kind of a step down but thematically it was great. The squid sister performing right next to you while using the rainmaker to finish off DJ Octavio was fantastic.

Having to play a match 3 vs 4 from the start is such fucking bullshit. They should just immediately end the match when that happens.

Awww, I only played 9 hours today instead of yesterdays 11. Dunno what went wrong. I guess waking up an hour later but where did the other hour go? Hhmm..

Anywayz: At C on Rainmaker and Splat Zones and B- on Tower Control. Was B- in both other modes but got ranked down. It seems like its harder to rank up/keep rank in this game since I was always B+ to A+ in 1.

Also is it worth going over 1,200 points in Salmon Run? Seems like its just shirt duplicates and doesn't seem like its worth 4,000 gold for that much grind.

I just finished World 3 of the campaign, and I kind of agree that it's a little weak thus far. It's still really good, but it lacks some novelty. It's a really good mode to play when you don't have internet access, I bet that why they put in rewards for beating all the levels with every weapon, so that there's still a lot to do when not connected. I like most of the new gimmicks though, I wonder if we'll see a multiplayer map use the grapple points as a quick traversal option?

Really enjoy Turf War, but the Tower game type just seems like a cluster fuck, maybe I'm missing something.

It's a little bit less of a clusterfuck now, with the checkpoints and no more ink mine, but it's still the messiest gametype. But it feels so good to glide to the end with that silly jingle going

Matchmaking is putting me with people lvl 10+ while I'm lvl2/3. They have better weapons/gear and knowledge of the game, they should get even more advantages (like a connection boost).

I'm glad they were able to salvage some of the drawing functionality from one, but I have some issues with it. First off, because of either the social media requirement, lack of stylus, or other reasons, it feels like less people are drawing (in North America at least). Always have a bunch of people with no pictures.

Also, I'm guessing because it's tied to social media, the game pulls a bunch of posts that get a lot of traffic, so everyone ends up getting the same handful of popular posts. That in itself is fine, but they need to rotate them out a bit more. It sucks that throughout most of the day, the same people with the same pictures are in your plaza. People go "Oh wow, check this one out" and you will probably go "Yep, I have that one too."

As I said, I'm glad the feature is in, but these are just a couple of things I noticed. Checking people's drawings in the plaza isn't as fun as in the first one.

I literally got to level ten after my last played match. By then, the map rotation kicked in and I needed to do stuff (plus my Switch was running out of charge). I'm gonna give it a whirl later this evening to see how I get on then, though.

After never getting used the them in the first game, to the point where it almost put me off picking up the sequel, the gyro controls have finally clicked with me. They work so well with the pro controller.

Do abilities stack? I got two quick respawns on a pair of shoes.

Yes they do but the later the bonus comes, lower the effect is.

I don't know numbers but your first quick respawn bonus may cut 20% of respawn time while second one may cut another 10%. So your total respawn time could be like 70% of "normal" one.

Maybe like for Splatoon 1 someone cool and patient will make a sheet or website with all these data.

Gyro controls are much more natural. You need to unlearn all that damage playing sticks has done :P

Soooo my mobile connection was disconnected and I got a message telling me I'll be banned???

Is that why you can't leave a game that has started too?

Hi Splatooners,

I was unsure if this is worth a new thread so I am starting the discsussion here.

I would be interested to know how your controller set-up looks like for that game. As I am more belonging to the mouse/keyboard fraction for 1st/3rd person shooter, I was not really feeling confortable with the fixed joycon or pro controler set-up. Then I tried this:

joyconmat.jpg

An holy cow, I am so much better at this game now. It's a bit feeling like the good old Wii-like aiming. Left JoyCon like nunchuck for steering, right Joycon purely for aiming with gyro. Higly recommend to you guys to try out.

Last night when I went to bed I couldn't sleep for ages because all I could hear in my head were songs from this game, and all I could see in the darkness of my eyelids was an image of my player shooting ink.

Help.

You're a true squid now welcome to the club!
