I've been having pretty decent luck in terms of squidmates. They seem to understand that you need to stay pretty close together in order to win. Not too many heroes, luckily.

Edit: also, yes I think the aerospray combo is evil. I use it myself and god damn it's powerful.

I like it. Especially on splat zones where the other team is close together launching it usually means also 2-3 kills besides getting the zone back.

The Famitsu interview the other day with the devs had me thinking about Marina more, because they don't answer whether Marina actually is an Octoling which is kinda interesting. Nogami apparently just said "she has extraordinary hair" and that Inklings don't care either way about what you are as long as you're doing something fresh.

Obviously she is an Octoling, coupled especially with the fact that (single player spoilers)
her hidden scroll shows that she was a black-haired Octoling in Octavio's lair when the first game's final boss went down and was evidently heavily inspired by the Squid Sisters' performance (also shows her without the visor that brainwashes people).
But the comment actually got me thinking and I noticed the fact that Marina doesn't actually have a traditional Octoling mask - Octolings usually have purple eyeliner while Marina has the Inkling-styled black. Her mask would resemble the Squid Sisters fairly well if it weren't for her lacking the ridge that Inkling masks have. As an aside, despite being somewhat glamorous of a design, Pearl is the only idol out of all four of them who adopts a traditional Inkling mask.

So basically I'm getting the feeling that the game is implying that Marina is trying to "fit in" as an Inkling, notably taking her image from the Squid Sisters.

The sad thing is this is the norm for teambased games. I've never played a team based game where this doesn't happen.

It's also why people don't like RTS games as much anymore. Broodwar is one of the best games ever made, but people will likely not run to play remastered. They can't blame anyone else when they lose.
Yeah it's too bad when that happens.

All I know is that if my team keeps losing even if there was rotation and I get the better players on my team, then the problem isn't them, it's me. That means I gotta do better.

Unfortunately I never seem to fully "get gud" so I just turn off the voice chat hehe.

I'm so excited for StarCraft Remastered.

Also regarding whether aerospray is OP in splatzone or not, I know it's anecdotal and all, but here are the scorecards of my last splatzone, and while I definitely did not have a great game every match, if anything I'm probably mostly bad, but I would say that an overwhelming theme is that the aerospray did not dominate my matches.

If anything the one time I became one with the brush I lost anyway due to an underperforming aerosprayer, which is secretly why I hold a grudge against it. :P

Is it really not possible that I'm playing in the same team as my friend in Regular Battles or Ranked Battles? That is, besides randomly being thrown into the same team in Regular Battles.

Oh... shit. So pointless for online play lol. Anyway to kill that intro aside from that?

Yeah, so if you wanna go into singleplayer you're in immediately. Once you turn flight mode off and go into the lobby you'll have to go through the stage sequence anyway. Don't know about any other ways to skip it.

where on the map is world 2 level 6?

Top right. From spawn of map go straight to back, before the walkway to the end warp. To the left is a sponge to get to the tall wall on the right.

They should stay until you pay for them. I ordered something last night and redeemed it in the morning.

Trying to get used to motion controls. Will take a while to adjust to the fact that stick only controls the x-axis... But it's been hailed up to be the superior method so I'll just have to learn :)

I just read in the Famitsu interview that you can jump several ranks if you play really well (and also loose them all at once if you do very poorly). So you can go from C- to A in one go, for example. Now I understand how I went so quickly from C- to C+ in Splatzones.

Yeah the single player of this game is MUCH better than the multiplayer. Nintendo shoukd focus more on it.

Nah. The single player is fun but I never returned to the original game's single player unless it was about unlocking stuff and I doubt the same will apply here. I didn't even have the patience to unlock the Hero Roller in Splatoon 1 and I'm already dreading getting every single hero weapon here.

Multiplayer is where it's at.

Just had one of my most frustrating games. We lost by 1.5% despite it being my best game with 1200 points and like 8 kills. At one time, I personally wiped three members of the opposite team in the 30 second mark. We lost because this Brush and machine gun user didn't pull their weight.

At the same time, I guess I should be happy that we did so well with two dead weight teammates.

I will picket outside Nintendo
's Twitter account
until Salmon Run is available 24/7.

Sorry for snapping earlier, I was just extremely pissed off because it's obvious I'll never be good enough to get past C- in ranked.

It's dumb that Salmon Run isn't available 24/7.

I tried searching but I haven't seen it-

Has anyone had an issue where the gyro gets stuck facing upwards, and even pressing Y does nothing to recenter the vertical tilt? This happened to me while I was reclining in bed and sorta holding the Switch diagonally upwards. Is this a hardware problem or does Splatoon 2 prevent you from recentering properly when the Switch is at a certain angle? Can anyone else test this?

In handheld mode, you can only recentre the camera within a 90-degree range. It has to be flat on a surface, directly facing you or somewhere in between those. Anywhere outside that and it won't recentre, so you can't hold it above your head while you play.

No idea why they did this. Are gyroscopes less accurate at certain angles?

Don't worry about it man. Salt is just the fuel of competitive games lol. I've definitely had my fair share of salt so far, sometimes even saltier than I get in overwatch.

Sometimes though we just need to learn to be salty about ourselves. And move on from that.

Relax, it's the first week so the matchmaking is not perfect. After all the veterans move off to higher ranks you'll be able to get better matches. Also in the mean time you'll get more practice in and get better at the game.

A rank was the worst, there was a mix of highly skilled players, decent ones and somehow people who had no clue wtf they were doing. It took me the longest to get from A to A+ and there was a lot of salt involved.

I think that's when I quit Splatoon 1. There was always one teammate that lived in his own world and employed the dumbest strategies.

Get past C- is definitely the hardest part of ranked since it is almost entirely out of your control.

Right now there are a lot of vets and good players in the lower ranks, it'll be much easier to get out of C- in a few weeks. Also, maybe it's just that you haven't found your weapon yet. Anyway, the game's been out only for a few days, you'll surely improve a lot in the following weeks. One mistake new players make is to not use walls. Walls don't count towards the score, but learning to use them is vital to win a lot of encounters, are you doing this? Never rush towards enemy ink, always try to lay out some of your ink first so you have some mobility to react to the opponents. And try different weapons and playstyles: Ninjasquid with a close range weapon and ambushes, high mobility with a medium ranged gun, charger...BTW, Octobrush is amazing in Splatzones and Blaster is great for Tower Control.

This is a stupid question and I'm pretty sure I know the answer already, but... Is the game language and region locked to the individual copy of the game or system region? Like, if I buy it in Japan can I play in English or in American Splatfests?

splatfests a regional locked.

meaning japanese game: only japanese topic for splatfest
european game: only european topic for splatfest and so on.

but we all play in one big pool together.

You should've pushed a bit more, S and S+ were pretty great, everyone there was very competent.

Get past C- is definitely the hardest part of ranked since it is almost entirely out of your control.
In those low levels it's "easy" for a skilled player to carry his team. Under normal circumstances that is, because right now every C- team can have 1 or 2 skilled vets.

Yeah I went from C to B- in splatzones for winning six consecutive matches. Also went from B to A-, but lost a few in that sequence so I'm not sure how it exactly works.

I still don't understand how. Is there a place to redeem your eggs or points for some loot?

Yes!!!! At the closed like counter on the left side of the salmon run entrance.

Got like 70k gold coins yesterday there and multiple 4 slot shirts + some tickets and ability drink tickets.
