Hey is anyone else in the US having trouble getting online and playing Salmon Run, or basically doing anything online? Woke up this morning wanting to play some Salmon run and got an error code saying 2124-5200 "the server is operating normally". Went to the pics to post it to twitter and got another error code saying 2801-5000 "you need to re-login to the Nintendo Account"

I went through all the options in the Switch and the only thing that comes close to "re-login" to Nintendo account is the option to unlink my Nintendo Account, and in there it says I would lose all my save data which is definitely not something I want to do. Freaking out I contacted Nintendo chat and told them my error codes and what's happening and they said there is currently an outage. Is anyone else experiencing this outage? Worried about my Switch account right now as I don't want to lose my progress in Splat 2 or especially the 260 hours I put into Zelda :( :(
 
I kinda wish that the Splatoon team had the level of community outreach that other popular shooters have. Overwatch is a great example.

They had all of those Tumbler posts leading up to and after the release of Splatoon 1. Do they still do those?

Fun fact: Every single one of those is cataloged in the art book. It's kinda nuts.

I only catched It by glimpse while reading in here. Btw man how does matching with people work? I tried multiple times but it just says it's not possible to match with you.
 
Find better people to play with. I promise you that Aerospray isn't OP.

Yep. I have been primarily using Aerospray in turf war, and I usually get 1000p+ for inking, but I am very easily killed by weapons that either out range me or rollers/brushes. Have been getting better at avoiding death and staying alive as a result. Would not even think about using it in ranked as of right now.

I started using the Nzap because I wanted to get better at fighting other people. I've definitely improved. I'm curious why dualies have more damage and better range than the Nzap though. It seems like only the Jet Squelcher and Charger have better range. It really seems like they made them overpowered for what they are.
 
I don't understand the hate over not being able to back out of matchmaking. Like...didn't you choose to go into matchmaking in the first place? And matches are only 3 minutes long, so it's not like you're being incredibly inconvenienced. The lack of backing out during matchmaking makes matches happen faster too. Am I crazy? Someone please explain the salt to me.

I really hope the octobrush stays like this i love it to death now, in Splatoon 1 i was terrible with all brushes but now i am wrecking like crazy with one finally.

my joycons aren't functional with Splatoon 2 in undocked mode. one other person in this thread has reported the same problem as me

The fact that very, very few people seem to have this issue makes me feel like it is the controller and not just the game, but I have no idea why it would work fine the other 90% of the time, or why it would specifically get triggered when going to a certain menu in the game. Nintendo replaced my first pro controller in late May, so I assume the replacement is still under its 3-month warranty... may as well just get another one.

This happened to me twice... however I'm fairly certain both times it was because i moved a bag that was carrying my original pro controller. I think it accidentally connected to my switch and was battling for control, because after a couple of seconds of the abnormality, my switch asked which controller I wanted to use.

This is a different issue... I removed my old pro controller's pairing from the system completely a while ago. The controller just glitches out for no real reason.

I think it's mostly frustration over when a room isn't filling up and you have to wait for the timer to expire before being able to do anything

Exactly this.

And matchmaking takes so long that sometimes stuff comes up. This IS a handheld system after all. I guess putting the system to sleep accomplishes that, but that isn't always foolproof. I put it to sleep during the process of finding 2 other players once and it gave me the speech about disconnecting when I came back.

So am I missing something or does the app really not display the final map? I feel like those are always interesting to look at.

Would have to re-test weapon ranges, but I remember Dualies having a slight edge on the Splattershot Jr., similar to the N-Zap. Dualies definitely don't have the fire rate / damage on the N-Zap though, at least not unless they're using concentrated fire. Concentrated fire is like a short-range Splatling.

Have you tried seeing if the joy-cons need an update? haven't experienced this yet with my joy-cons but also haven't tried the other 2 pairs i have.

You are making a pretty big assumption with this reply, as I actually did not mention it at all, and that is "as long as you win." I am not winning, almost always on the losing team, so that fact combined with the fact I have never been able to get #1 on my team leads me to believe either I do not know what I am doing or I am not very good at playing the game. Both things are what I care about. I do not like not knowing what I am doing. I do not like not being very good. This is a bad thing how?
I would be cool with 3rd-4th place if my team won every time, but that is not happening. That could be thanks to the fact that...

Apologies if you already know this and I misunderstood, but walls don't count, it was a big source of confusion with people in the first game.

Also, like I explained earlier in the thread the paint numbers are not always a great indicator of how much you contributed to the match. It is possible to rack up very high turf numbers with some weapons by just running around and painting, without actually maintaining control over the areas you have painted, this allows the enemy to come back into an area you've painted and paint over it in their color. The most effective strategy is to establish control of key areas on the map to prevent enemies from getting to your turf and painting over it, but playing this way will not necessarily provide you with huge turf numbers.
I did not know that walls did not count. I can add to this that I went out of my way to spray walls thinking they did count. So this very well could have a HUGE part of why I was seeing the results I was seeing. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything else as well. It is much appreciated.

Might help if you told us your loadout
Due to said sucking, I have tried a whole lot of different loadouts. I also just became a Level 6 and while I have some cash or credits, I do not have a lot. So I do not have a go to loadout just yet. With that said, I have tended to stick to a Tentatek Splattershot, Camping Hat, White Urchin Rock Tee, Orange Arrows or Oyster Clogs.

I was at the furthest point from them that my range would hit. They still hit me.

I also played against someone that I killed and within 3 seconds they were behind me and killed me with their special. This game needs some bug fixes.

Try playing some games with dualies, the base range is pretty bad. You have to be all about positioning to use them effectively. Splattershot range is way higher, as someone pointed out earlier.

Honestly sounds like you were probably just confused about what killed you in both of those instances.

Best way to check the actual range of weapons is to try them out in the shooting range. Use the lines on the floor.

I don't understand that either. The two things people ask for in that screen (changing weapons and being able to back out) would add time to being able to find and start a full game. It may not seem like much but even a delay of a minute and a half is half the time you'd be playing. If the goal in the lobby is to be as fast as possible and throw you right back in, they've achieved it. I don't want to wait for people to ready up, and, if someone joins the room I don't want to wait for them to be replaced if they decide to leave right before the lobby fills.

I have used ualies.

Also, unless someone else named CJ hoped in and out of my match, I killed them and then was killed by them 3 seconds later. There was only one when the match ended.

I had the 2124-5200 error this morning. First I tried restarting, and it didn't help. But then I powered it off entirely, waited a moment and turned it back on, and then it was working again. I don't know if it'll help you, but that's what I did.
 
This new weapon rotation on Salmon Run is great, has been much more manageable in profreshional with a highest of 63 eggs in one round. It feels like a weapon like the blaster or charger can take momentum out of a run if it's not your forte. Still miss the roller for leading paths for the carriers though.

Seems like players are getting more used to it as well, seeing as last session almost all of my runs ended in wave 3. Today people are running and hiding once the quota is met if it gets too much.
 
Tough time on Salmon Run tonight. Started off with 2 first round wipeouts, almost made it a third, down to our last squid, but we somehow came back to finish. After 7 or 8 rounds I managed to get back to where I started.

Firefly Rush on high tide in the 1st round is bullshit.

Their special was the jetpack airthing. That's what killed me.

I've not had them give me great range but when playing against someone else, they were able to hit me when I was at the limit of my range with the Nzap.

I'm so bad with the Charger. Most games I've lost in Salmon Run were because I got the Charger in the last round. Give me anything else, even the Splatling.

Seriously. Thank you so much for taking the time to just reply to me and be helpful instead of confrontational or questioning my motives. I just wanted to know why I was doing not so good.

You sharing that simple fact about the game led to this on my first match knowing this.

A Victory and 1st Place. I for real was going out of my way to ink up walls thinking everyone else was just ignoring them. Now I know why, and I hope to be on a lot more winning teams as a result.

Yeah, I've felt so impotent on past Salmon Run matches when I've gotten stuff like the Carbon Roller or the Inkbrush. Charger's great though, especially against Mothership rounds. Doing one of those when you're stuck with a melee weapon is awful.

Great to hear that more people are playing it safe once they meet the quota. No reason to play stupid if you don't have to. I've seen too many people sacrifice themselves on kamikaze runs against far off boss salmonid when they had no reason to and through the match because of it.
 
I'm so bad with the Charger. Most games I've lost in Salmon Run were because I got the Charger in the last round. Give me anything else, even the Splatling.

Same. I feel like if played with a well co-ordinated team that protects the charger, the it's great at destroying bosses (especially mothership special round). Problem is that I just end up being left alone having to fend off tonnes of small fry which just wreck me every time.
 
Biggest problem with the current rotation of Salmon Run weapons is none of them are very good at dealing with steelheads or drizzlers.
 
Now I'm at boss level in Salmon.. Uh oh...

No idea, I just know it doesn't work if there's no one online on my friends list. lol

It's strange really. When you're online like right now i can't join. Which makes sense because you either aren't in a game or you are. I never saw any lobby to wait in for friends.
