Nintendo actually has a good track record of updating their games to respond to "fans". I mean, they even went back and updated Codename STEAM, a game that nobody really purchased after it got trashed for having slow wait times. I believe they'll come back to the SplatApp and improve it.... it may just happen in 2018 lol

haha. hey, here's hoping. they have good track record with updating their apps too, i feel. so, we'll see.

i love salmon run. i just dont want to have to necessarily get on the game to find out when its happening next.

Can someone please point me to a chart that shows what all the ability icons in this game mean? It's incredibly frustrating going on SplatNet and not knowing what some or the ability icons are and not being able to find out anywhere

Yeah... it's baffling that they don't have the actual names of the abilities there.

Many baffling decisions made by Nintendo for this game...

Man I wish the joycon had IR pointer support.

Tried detached motion controls last night but I kept feel like I was losing my "center" and kept holding the right joycon awkwardly during hectic fights.

Pressing Y resets it to the center. I play split joy-cons and I do this often.

I LOVE Salmon Run. I would pay $39.99 DLC Season Pass for more Salmon Run stages and content.

Really? Are you sensitivity settings set to MAX? It feels exactly like pointer controls for me. Yeah press Y to recenter, but it feels great, every bit as good as any Wii game with pointer controls.

I predict that Pro controller held parallel to the ground is gonna win out over split joy cons due to consistently. With two hands on the "pointing" device the muscle memory will become a lot more reliable over time. imo

Why does it have to be held parallel to the ground? That's a bit awkward. Who does that?

I've been playing only detached from the start. Its a bit awkward at first, but I actually love the freedom of it because I can do ridiculously precise moves, all without affecting my movement stick in the left hand.

Its been super nice, loving it!

somehow made it to Rank B in Rainmaker. I'm gonna assume I got carried because I haven't won a single match yet lol.

I really want to do a ninja octobrush build but you can't really do that in turf war. Or at least I can't because my team can't cover ground for me and obviously I can't do it in a timely fashion.

And matchmaking is stupid, why does my team have two octobrushes, aerospray, and a splattershot, and everyone on the other team has basically guns with higher range than us. What gives?

LOL I thought I was awesome because I ranked up to B after winning like 5 matches in a row this morning at Splatzones!

Huh, that's weird. I have to hold it perpendicular to ground when I reset the camera so that I have room to tilt it forward and down. If it's already parallel I'd have to like tip it upside down for that.

Getting Overwatch flashbacks with how people are bad with the objective. Game went for 4 and a half minutes before we got KO'd and I was the only one who ever got on the Tower. Jesus.

Weapon abilities are locked. You can unlock new weapons with different sub/super weapons in the store from leveling up through multiplayer.

Regular eggs in Salmon run are just for points I guess, nothing really.

All of your gear should be in the equip menu after you bought it. If you ordered it from Splatnet or from another player then you have to buy it from Murch.

Just FYI but someone did the math earlier in this thread and determined that the orange power eggs in salmon run are indeed worth Job Score.

Here's an example:

Yso5TzF.png

1) Our whole team collected 27 golden eggs
2) Our whole team collected 1427 power eggs
3) The difficulty / pay grade was 120%

Job score = [golden eggs] + [power eggs / 200]
Final score = Job Score * Pay Grade

Got all the way up to 11.5 Fresh with N-Zap '85 in Turf War last night. Helped me chew through most of level 10 and nose up into level 11.

Not going for Ranked until i can get to level 17 and the Squelcher. Both because i love the Squelcher and because i'll get a bunch of other weapons along the way, and should have enough to cover every Ranked scenario by then (along with getting good practice with different weapon types).

I feel like i have a better grasp of the flow of battle in this game. The stages are more accessibly designed than the stages in Splatoon 1, so you can push back against bad momentum in Turf War more easily than before.

On the flipside, i feel like Turf War is more biased towards small/medium guns than it was before and seems to discourage teams fielding Chargers, Rollers, or Splatlings, so you see less variety in the matches.

Or maybe everyone is like me and just trying to horde money/exp and so going for the weapons that get more points now.

thats what i did yep, no fucking way i was going into ranked without my .96

anyone else still have trouble with the timing when jumping to a teammate from spawn. as far as i know its hold direction key, hit A.... but sometimes i dont hear the sound that means its worked. also the timing seems weird; do I hit A just as i'm about to respawn? or at any time after i die?

or is the reason its difficult that the teammates are dying/moving so it wont easily activate?

second question.... can i use two meal tickets at once if they're of different types? or does one replace another.

Have to be fully alive. There's a slight delay when you respawn.

And only one meal and drink ticket at a time even if they're different. If you try to use another or a different one, it'll ask to override the first one.

Beat the game. Final boss is awesome. But I never played the first one cause I heard lots of folks were disappointed. Oh well! I thought it was amazing and that's all I need!

Well, charge weapons have more of a support role. You're stuck relying on your other team mates to actually capitalize on the opportunities you create, which makes for a hair pulling experience most of the time. It's no surprise that they really shine in tower/point control, where the objective is much more focused.

Doesn't help when the Heavy Splatling loadout is so obviously geared toward these modes either. It's fucking shit for turf war.

edit/ That said I met a fucking nasty roller in Tower defense yesterday. Dude was a beast.

?? How. The vents are on the open end. Or because it's running through an extension USB? I notice no difference in charging times this method or on the dock. I've picked it up after a few sessions of running the dock, no heat on it at all. So it seems completely fine, and I'll let you know if it catches fire!

Here's some more pics with the Joycons attached:

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I have totally misunderstood how experience works.

The only thing you get XP for (and what actually gets multiplied by tickets), is the little bonuses at the end. In Turf War your score is irrelevant after you hit 500p

The max XP you can get in turf war is 1400 (2100/2800 with ticket multiplier)
Win Bonus +600
Ink Bonus (500p) +500
Time Bonus (3 min) +300

Compare that to the ranked where you get 1500 just for winning, plus any time/progress bonuses or KO bonuses.

This feels like a "Walls don't count" moment for me.

How do you get the Time Bonus? I've received it before but I don't know why. Ink I presume is from covering a certain amount of turf.

But if you lose in ranked you get zero and that's where I usually sit lol

Like the name implies, Time Bonus is based on how long a game lasts. In Turf War it is always going to be 300xp, because every game it's 3 minutes.

Ranked is different. Games can end in 30 seconds or go to 5 minutes, so you get a bonus that actually varies. Time Bonus is the only XP you will get if you get KOd. If a game last until the end with neither side getting KOd, each side gets 500xp

But if you lose in ranked you get zero and that's where I usually sit lol

This is true.
