So, so close to getting to Fresh with the Paintbrush. Couldn't quite get over the line.

But i got a good distance into level 14 trying.

Up to A- in Rainmaker.

My team and myself almost completely blew it at the end of our last match, fortunately someone recovered fast enough to stop the enemy carrying the Rainmaker.

NOTHING is worse than dying right as you're touching down the rainmaker, being down to 1, and STILL fucking losing to a KO

Those are moments you just KNOW every member of the opposing team erupted with jubilant cheers. Even without voice chat enabled, I swear I can freaking hear them rejoicing, lol.

Edit: That said, coming back from the brink of defeat, in Splatoon, feels unlike any other game (baring the fighting genre) I've played. This is the kind of game that just belongs in e-sports.

These kind of Turf Wars matches drive me nuts.

Had the whole left side of the map locked down by myself and we still lost. Didn't lose a fight that came to me. Using the Splattershot Pro I was still pretty much able to hit the middle of the map from there so I wasn't just protecting a small area. This game is so good, yet so rage inducing sometimes. I don't have matches like this too often so it really sucks when you're not on the winning side.

Also, I saw some Splattershot Pro discussion come up before. The weapon is still pretty great, but the range is something to be desired sometimes. Damn squelchers, Octobrushes and Tri-sloshers out ranging me. I feel like that shouldn't happen from a slow firing precision weapon. If my aim is on I definitely splat people real quick.

Looks like your Aerosprays really struggled that game. Couldn't even out-paint you.

Been finding the middle of the hill to be a better place to manage the Turf War game with randoms. I used to try to lock down their side as well, but had been finding that my allies aren't locking down the other side/middle and it just fills up behind me. At least at the top of the hill you can shoot down at people approaching and watch which side of the ring is filling up. With more reliable team mates, your original strategy was probably the way to go.

Yeah, the Jet Squelcher in particular is annoying for the Pro. The Tri-Sloshers and Octobrushes haven't been as big of a problem for me, as they just tend to play super aggro. Just been baiting them and then backing up. The Brush's range continues to kinda baffle me, though. They don't seem like they should hit people that far above them.

What should the next Splatfest be?

And I don't mean to sound random but community stuff like this can really help a game out.

Hopefully Fire Emblem Switch manages to find a way to do something similar to Splatoon 2 to bring gamers together in a fun way.

I like the Rock vs Pop, but Japan got it already so I doubt we will, but we'll never get the Splatfest that we should have because they don't have the guts to go there.

Yay 4 games in a row I'm the top scorer on my team, and either someone DC on my team, or they're just awful.

Woot.

Yeah, they gotta do something about how they calculate weapon proficiency and freshness values, because no matter how good you get with any weapon it's a total crapshoot whether or not you'll win enough matches in a row to get those freshness bonuses.

It's completely unfair that I can get 1000+ points and 10+ kills multiple games in a row but still lose freshness points just because the rest of the people on my team are garbage.

Motion controls were good before and I thought hey had clicked with me already but after 10 days of playing I feel like they are really starting to click. They are the real deal.

Also to the person above, I know it can be frustrating but I try not to take turf wars too seriously as there are a ton of new people playing who are just getting the game. The only thing that really frustrates me is the frequent amount of times turf wars is left at 3v4...

Just finally had a chance to play enough to unlock ranked. So many idiot teammates at C- think it's a smart idea to superjump to the tower during a big teamfight especially at a numbers disadvantage. Ugh get me out of here ASAP

Get excited, people were doing this at B ranks as well.

As a jet squelcher user in Splatoon 1, I love the Pros current range. It would always wreck me in that game.

I'm fine not winning turf war matches. I just feel like it's a little weird that that there's a system in the game that encourages you to get really good with a weapon but doesn't take into account how good you actually are with that weapon when it rewards you. It's just as weird that someone who isn't very good with a weapon can get carried for a couple of matches and earn an easy freshness bonues.

And yeah, having someone DC and basically guarantee that you lose points on your weapon rating doesn't help.

That's some good advice there, thanks. I usually feel kind of uncomfortable in the very middle of the Humpback. I think I get too fidgety and lose sight of the lines I should be shooting for and end up getting myself killed quickly. I like to try to lock down a side playing with randoms since I feel I can do it when I'm on. Might be better to do that when playing with GAFers.

Thinking about it I guess the Octobrush and Sloshers don't give me too much trouble unless when it's someone who knows what they're doing, but I guess that goes for anyone that's good at the game using any other weapon. I'm not that good. Squelchers, Single or Dual, do seem to give me trouble no matter what. Their range seems like a little too much for me. Guess I just have to adjust when I see someone on the other team using them.

Any tips for using the tri-slosher? I heard great things about, I sucked when I tried it though. Went back to the oldie, really felt bad that my teams were losing mostly because of me.

Also, feels good when you switch back to your old weapon and start making your team better again, even if you are using the hated Aerospray MG.

Oh yeah for sure, agreed on all counts.

For tri slosher the key is to not get too aggressive, and exercise patience. Use bombs for long range, don't be tempted to slosh from too far out. It only takes two sloshes so get up close first and also maneuver around opponents.

Is it better to Scrub the Splatfest tee when you only get two abilities rather than at 4? it takes less experience to get 1 and 2 rather than later on.

I made the mistake of playing the same way as if I were using the MG. Gonna give it another shot tomorrow

Despite losing a fraction more cash?

If saving up money is your number one concern then go ahead and wait for the third one. But considering it only costs 2000 to scrub the Splatfest tee (compared to the 20,000 to scrub everything else), a lot of folks see this as a way to get ability chunks.

I played some Pro in that rotation and was finding the top of that hill decent. I think the Pro sucks when going up and down that hill (the Splattershots just bop you). Musselforge is a kinda the same way for the weapon. But once you're standing there suppressing their hill and their drop-offs, they have trouble approaching. I mostly like it because it's easier to identify problem situations and manage allies better from there. Lots of hopping back and forth to those side platforms.

I have trouble killing regular Sloshers without Point Sensoring them with their annoying Suction Bombs and stuff. But once they're located, they usually either go away or commit. The Squelcher Dualies drive me nuts, though. I always feel like such a sucker when they roll-kill me.

Here are a few of my best matches

Not seen on some where I had 15 splats with the Jr. Played ranked for maybe 2 hours at most sitting at a b- for tower control and b for rainmaker.
