It's like in splat zones especially I never jump even if it's all my team and their team is dead. Just, why NOT take the safe five second route?

Followed by a 3v4. Nothing wrong with matchmaking tho.

Pretty common in lower ranks and MMR. Try winning a game or two and see if you notice the change. People who can't hold connection are more likely to be found in the lower end of the player base.

The matchmaking has quite a few problems but no matchmaking system ever will take out of people who DC or leave mid-game.

Anyone have tips for the Sector 4 boss (UFO) without a charger? I'm on stage 3 and my blaster can not reach him at all (even jumping up a roller)

Just had the most intense Splat Zones match in Muscleforge Fitness. My team took control from the getgo until we hit 1 sec then the opposition took over. They dominated until their clock gets to 4 sec. Then we exchanged control of the zone while both teams were in penality until the main clock ran out and we got the win. That was intense AF!

I had a similar match recently where the other team got down to one second left on their timer and one second left on their penalty as well but we pulled out the win it was crazy intense.

musselforge zones is so good

I've never really understood the hate for "furry crap". Gaming as it is, has its roots in anthropomorphic creatures such as Banjo, Sonic, Yoshi, Star Fox, Pokemon, Crash, Spyro, and it goes on.

It's not really my cup of tea, but at this point, the hate is more of a meme than the furry art is. I think most people don't even understand why they dislike it, it's just something people do online.

Its the most difficult boss by far because it just isn't designed for anyrhing without some good reach.

Dont forget about the rails on either side that lead you up to attack range when its not really at any particular tower.

Another good tip is you can bounce on its head which will definitely have you in blaster range.

If you haven't already, upgrade the blaster so you can fire at a reasonable rate.

They've always been a brazen bunch but you're right that its just become something people do, particularly online.

It doesn't really have a place in Splatoon but the same can be said for all the non-Splatoon themed memes.

I'm level 28. How many matches do I need to win before I get paired with an actual team?

How many more matches do I need to win?

That's your lvl not MMR. MMR is a hidden stat that decides who you play with in Turf War. Your level doesn't really affect it afaik. The lower the MMR the more likely you are to encounter people with connection problems generally speaking.

If you're talking about turf wars I don't know how likely it is to stop happening.

Yeah true. I feel like there's quite a few people playing on McDonald's Free Wi-Fi or something.

For what it's worth I have been seeing less disconnects in turf wars but on weekends they seem larger.

Can you link to a source on this? The bolded specifically. Also, how does that disprove that the matchmaking in this game is shit?

My d/c's have been the same since launch day. It's so rampant.

You don't really need a source. You get matched based on skill level as determined by wins/losses, disconnected players get losses.

Since you're winning a bunch it's unlikely that's the case for you. Unlucky?

So because I win a lot, I get paired with people that d/c? How does that make any sense?

I edited; it doesn't make sense in your case.

Anyone else getting game lockups/crashes when the maps change mid lobby search? Happened twice now and I have to sit through Off the Hook each time!

as far as matchmaking working more on how a person plays and less on their level there's this:

Nintendo Dream starts off by asking how matchmaking works. Amano mentions that rather than focusing on levels, the game pairs players with similar playstyles in Turf War. Levels are more of “an indicator for how long the person has played the game.”

Since Splatoon matches users together based on how they play, Amano notes that those who tend to splat enemies are likely to play together. Likewise, those who concentrate on painting rather than splatting are more likely to get paired up.

Spongebob memes at least make sense thematically, plus the splatfest.

To be honest you are just going to see a lot of disconnects because many people play with shoddy connection. Splatoon is quite demanding on your connection sending more packages than other online games on Switch as far as I know. If you have exceptionally high win rate you are unlikely to face a lot of players that disconnect a lot because they can't hold high win percentage like that.

My original point was that the matchmaking system ends when it has pitted 4 people against 4. It has no knowledge of the quality of people's connection. Nintendo's solution to DC's is giving temporary bans to those who DC often but I don't know the specifics on that.

I think it would be good if it kept a record of past temporary bans and would try to pit these people against each other.

Why would that I mean I get connected with players who d/c though? I have 0 d/cs according to the app.

Also, this is nonsense. I played a round where it was 60-30, they kept the teams the exact same and got the same results the next round. It doesn't make sense at all to build teams this way.

I've got nothing in regards to the dc's

I'm so close to being done with this game because of how awful the matchmaking is. I'm going to ride out the Splatfest and pray that it somehow gets better.

oh god

splatfests are always the worst for me in regards to connection shit. I never have connection problems. haven't had them in this game and never had them in splatoon 1. except splatfests. splatfests were when I'd see frequent connection issues. happened in the first game and happened to me again for the pre-release splatfest for this game. I don't know what it is but it only happens for splatfests. in the first game I thought it was the regional matchmaking for most splatfests and americans having shittier internet in general.

I was out of work on medical leave the week after this game came out. I had issues then and wasn't so bad because I had the entire day to do nothing but play and heal. I get maybe an hour a day to play across 2 sittings during the week now that I am back to work. It's so disappointing to get to play 3 rounds and 2 of those are on teams that are short players.

Weirdly enough, the Tri-Slosher ain't that popular in Ranked in the A classes.

I usually see at least one per game. I used the tri-slosher to get into A ranks but I'm not going to use it anymore because I feel like its a false showing of skill, its absurdly powerful. going to focus on other weapons which I think will help in the long run.

srb2dudes video on the tri-slosher basically convinced me it needs a nerf, you can aim entirely to the side of someone and kill them in 2 hits further away than a .52 gal.

I never played Splatoon 1, but in the campaign, what are those shining purse-looking collectibles for? I haven't been able to figure out what they do. Are they unlocking something somewhere that I don't know where to look, or are they doing something in the level that I'm not seeing?

Also: dang, they hide that sardinium and scroll really well in some of these stages!

I don't know what it is about this Salmon Run—the weapon set doesn't look bad on paper—but it's just been a struggle, the most difficult one I've had yet. I've had no trouble staying at Profreshional since launch, but today I dropped down to Overachiever, and after getting paired a few times with people who clearly hadn't seen objectives like the Mothership before, dropped yet again to Go-Getter. I haven't had this much trouble since the very first session when I was still learning the ropes.

Ahh I got from amazing teammates to absolute shit teammates in Salmon Run.

so hard to level up when I keep getting paired with people that don't know what to do =/

It's an armor boost. Will give you an extra layer of health.

I'd buy a game with just Salmon Run levels and bosses. It's so good.

The purse things are just extra armor for you in the level, allowing you to take more hits

As far as the "matchmaking" complaints go, people are right that the game's matchmaking has nothing at all to do with people disconnecting. That most likely is just the result of a lot of people playing their Switch online through shitty wi-fi. That isn't matchmaking, that's the player population, particularly in no-stakes turf war. You'll be less likely to see disconnects when you get high into the ranked battles or league because more good players will tend to be using better/wired connections and not taking rank-loss due to disconnects. Preparation for dealing with this kind of stuff is likely why the game's tickrate is so low.

This will probably improve a little bit over time as people with really frequent d/cs either get a better setup or just drop the game, but the nature of the Switch and how people use it is likely to mean you won't see many d/c-free days.
