Almost thought I'd lose two Vs Mayo matches in a row, but my team made an incredible last push at the end and we barely squeaked out the win.

DAMN. The Salmon Run was tough this morning, right?! I played five of them and lost them all. I even liked all the weapons you were loaded out with!! We still lost. I've never had that kind of losing streak before in Salmon Run.

Level in this game does not indicate skill level. They just so happen to play longer and have access to more weapon sets and gear. You can win despite level gaps.

Highest lvl on my team? 14

Lowest lvl on theirs? 16

Total level difference? Around 30.

We lost. Mild shock.

Yeah, I am noticing this as well. It wasn't as bad in the beginning, but it's getting worse and worse it feels like. I'm getting some truly terrible teams. It has really killed my streak

For those worried about the levels: avoid the mind games and don't pay attention to the levels at the start. Just look away.

Actually works wonders psychologically.

Just hit Ketchup Champion and haven't played against a mayo team once. Is it that one-sided or is the matchmaking just not great? I somehow missed all of the splatfests in the first game so I don't know if this is normal or not.

Too many people with bad taste. One sided battles are no fun.

I just don't understand (at least in NA) why this wasn't Ketchup vs Mustard. The teams would have been so much more balanced I think.

I just played 12 matches, 2 of them were against Team Mayo.

True, but generally speaking the higher level means at least more time playing so it's not totally meaningless

Was able to reach Ketchup King finally. Interested to see the results later. I'd say I won about half my Ketchup vs Mayo matches, maybe more. I gotta say, losing Splatfest matches is way more infuriating than normal Turf War matches lol.

Edit: Also Shifting Station might be my favorite stage in the game so far. It's a shame it's Splatfest-exclusive.

Well probably because losing splatfest means potentially getting less snails, so it means something.

Yeah, I would have dug mustard. I just flipped a coin on this one. Both Splatfests have been lame as shit though

They need to do a licensed one soon. Transformers was badass.
Or at least a more polarizing one like cats vs dogs.

Oh wow, I had no idea what the stakes were for this, lol.

What are snails for? I'm just a lil' ol' nub. 🙁

You can use them to add a slot to gear, so essentially you can make cool gear you like useful even if they are only one star normally.

Man, I miss Salmon Run already. It was a fun diversion when I got bored of the Splatfest Turf War. Also it's... interesting that some of the color schemes for when you have to do a in-team battle don't seem to have been well thought through for the darker Splatfest stages. I had a round that was a little silly earlier where I couldn't tell the difference between my purple ink and the enemy's pink ink on the Starfish Mainstage.

...Also, am I just dumb, or did anyone else not realize that there are two different stages for Salmon Run? The two are so aesthetically similar that I thought I was just on different places on the same stage until I suddenly realized there was a stage selection on the schedule.

The randoms in this game are so bad. I almost always lose. I'm painting away and everything is looking good and then I press X and see my 2 active teammates are getting destroyed while the third guy is afk.

Is there a way to see what the team points are so far? Because I've played for two hours as Ketchup vs Ketchup, not once against Mayo. I just want to know how the teams are doing :/

EDIT: lol shit finally got a round against Mayo! Complaining helps :P

I just lost one to Mayo, so like 15-4 against them now lol, but it was another one of those really funky percentages. Like, I don't know, it definitely looked like we had it by a slim margin, bit it gave them over like 8% win.

Sooooo fucking tired of being splatted by an enemy I don't see until after the fact. I don't mean an enemy who got the drop on me but garbage like being splatted only to see the person who splatted me pop up out of the ink AFTER the splat notification. I'm not even seeing any attacks and then I'm waiting for respawn before I even see the person attacking me. Here I thought getting the wired adapter would help alleviate that bullshit but apparently not.

Midway through Champion, think I'm done with this Splatfest now. My final straw was this nonsense. The bulk of our turf is our spawn point which you can't see thanks to Judd's fat head. No one left, it was 4v4 the entire time. Except they had one guy who got to the wall just below our spawn within the first thirty seconds and was warping all over the place, taking no damage. As soon as most of our team was dead, two others jumped to him and just sat there tossing bombs and spamming brush alt-fires at our spawn point while one guy ran around back cleaning up what we had covered. We couldn't even get out of spawn - just a constant barrage of ink being flung up and bombs killing us as soon as we set one foot out of the protective spawn bubble. I reported the three of them for unsportsmanlike conduct but I doubt that will amount to much.

I dunno man, yeah some people can be idiots, but if you're playing random games with random people every time and you almost always lose...

Took me about 3 and a half hours to reach ketchup king. Are the points earned lower compared to splatoon 1?
They're actually slightly higher, but the matches are a lot harder on average because of how it determines a rating for you and matches you according to that rating. You also get a new team every match now, whereas before you could stick with a good team and just mow through everybody.

I'm about 10-3 against Ketchup. I just had my first Mayo vs Mayo matchup, too. Won that one as well. Still battling my way to become a Mayo King. About half way there

They're great at spreading the ink and getting points. I'm actually surprised they still get as many points as they do. I always felt it was way to much in the original.

They're great as a dedicated inking weapon.I have a friend who is very good at using it for that.

That is not how the majority of players using them try to play though.

Not letting you out of your spawn point isn't unsportsman like: if the skill gap is that big (other than the person apparently with serious lag), that's your teams problem, not theirs. I really don't see how pushing your lead to the best of your ability is unsportsmanlike at all.

Yep. Too many people using Aerosprays like primary damage weapons trying to chase and get into 1v1s and 1v2s. Instead they should disengage and find a different portion of the map that needs rapid inking. It was a problem in the first game too. It's the Splatoon version of "people not playing the objective", at least in Turf War.

This old chestnut. Bullshit that spawn camping - especially spawn camping that's enabled by network lag or outright manipulation - is "skillful" or sportsmanlike conduct. There's nothing sportsman like about people exploiting bullshit mechanics to prevent the opposing team from being able to even compete.

But thanks for reminding me why I had you on ignore.

E2: LOL "skill gap". Such skill sitting there in a defended position where they can just sit in the ink and keep their special abilities topped off so they can spam them with impunity. Such skill.

Nah, man. I'm consistently cracking 1000+, and 1200+ on an infrequent level, and I've still on a losing side a lot, way more than I have won. Like, no shit, this may be the best I have done point and paint wise in a damn long time. You can only do so much.

Spawn camping is the very definition of unsportsmanlike like.

It's also nothing more than griefing.

For every match my team does get into, there are at least three searches that just time out and boot us back to the lobby. Ugh
