Aaaaaaand I'm outta here! Quite the grind, but could've been worst.

I still think Mayo will win both solo and team win percentages but at least I got king.

Has anyone else tried to team up with friends and been unable to find a match? We are on team ketchup and everytime we look for a match the timer runs it's course and then boots us out of our room.

As Mayo king, I declare the possession of ketchup a crime against humanity and the punishment is flogging in the streets

Nah, man. I'm consistently cracking 1000+, and 1200+ on an infrequent level, and I've still on a losing side a lot, way more than I have won. Like, no shit, this may be the best I have done point and paint wise in a damn long time. You can only do so much.
If you loose more than you win in a random matchmaking without bias, you're below average of people playing...

Splatfest matchmaking DO have a bias, though, and there's probably a bias involving weapons and rank.

Not sure the score is really the best measurement of how you're doing (I'm average and I do 1200+ most of the time with aerospray, for example) but I don't have a doubt that in your case you're not responsible of losses...

If they were totally random games and you were of average skill, you would win 50% of the time. It's baffling to me to suggest otherwise, that somehow you're so much better than all your teammates every time and you lose way more than half the time.

Makes no logical sense to suggest that somehow all the bad teammates are assigned to you and you alone.

Took a break for My Hero Academia and a cup of tea, now ready to get back to mashing them 'matoes.

Currently at 21-13 so not too bad.

Yep. Too many people using Aerosprays like primary damage weapons trying to chase and get into 1v1s and 1v2s. Instead they should disengage and find a different portion of the map that needs rapid inking. It was a problem in the first game too. It's the Splatoon version of "people not playing the objective", at least in Turf War.

E:

This old chestnut. Bullshit that spawn camping - especially spawn camping that's enabled by network lag or outright manipulation - is "skillful" or sportsmanlike conduct. There's nothing sportsman like about people exploiting bullshit mechanics to prevent the opposing team from being able to even compete.

But thanks for reminding me why I had you on ignore.

E2: LOL "skill gap". Such skill sitting there in a defended position where they can just sit in the ink and keep their special abilities topped off so they can spam them with impunity. Such skill.

Spawn camping is the very definition of unsportsmanlike like.

It's also nothing more than griefing.

I hope you two have never won by having over 75% of the ink turfed in your colour. By this logic the moment you got that far, you should have jumped back to your spawn point to give the other team a chance.

And yes, if you get stuck in your base, you probably do need your team to git gud, lagger aside, it's massively in your advantage being at your spawn point vs them being at yours.

Yeah we did. 🙂

For some reason I'm remembering the Splatfest before the game release that you could have a team of two....

You are thinking of rank mode. Splatfest was locked to solo only, which everyone complained about. Which they did "fix" , but now people want it to where it doesnt need to be a full team of four. No clue why they cant just fill in a random spot like they do with salmon runs.

I push the enemy base on every game, but I fucking leave when I'm done painting because not doing do is bullshit behavior.

So many ketchup vs ketchup matches.

I know it was a thing in the first game, but I never actually experienced it in past Splat Fests.

Ah, that makes sense.

I can't imagine how many people it's easy to get a four man team up and running easily. I'm curious as to the thought process behind it.

This is literal nonsense guys. You're using the logic as if this is 1v1. It's 4v4. It's not that hard to fathom at all lol.

Can anything be done in increase the wifi stability on the Switch? Our wifi/modem is in my roommate's room, which is right next to mine, but I can only get two bars max and I get frequent communication errors. I've been playing a lot less Splatoon 2 than 1 because of it, sadly, and it's making the Splatfest real difficult.

Salmon run is 4 co-op

Splatfests are 4 vs 4. If you have 3+random, you should have enemies 3+random for it to be fair, because of teamplay. It's already hard to find matches now...

For real , I'm even seeing ketchup friends of mine running into the same problem. Like sure there's a bunch of people on that team, but it still hard for people to get four together at one time.

You probably leave because you'd get splatted if you stuck around. There's a shield over the enemy spawn, they can hit you but you can't hit them.

It doesn't change at all on average...

Opponents have as much chances of being shitty in the opposing team.

I could write a formal proof if you want ;)

But we're talking about loosing more than 50% in random matchmaking (which is not, especially in fests)

Made it to Ketchup King. Looking forward to not having to play any Turf War until the next splatfest, doing so much in one go is exhausting and reveals how much the game struggles to make good matches without a clear objective to focus on. I really liked Shifty Station, my guess is that what they meant by calling it a special stage is that a stage with this look but different name will be in every Splatfest as a sort of beta for an upcoming map. I don't seem them designing this weird stage which huge moving areas unlike any other map just for a Splatfest.

Mayo Champion is probably where I'll stop.

Some observations;

Last Night I definitely had some trouble finding Ketchup players, had 2 out of 7 ish matches all Mayo, but today seems a lot better.

Started out on Carbon Roller, then went to the Tentatek Pro, but found a home with the Splosher that just hit the store this weekend. Was Averaging close to 750 before Splosher and then went almost to 1k average with it and have had some great matches when I noticed on more change.

I played tabletop mode today for the first time. I specifically played with split joycons and motion controls. Uh is this the secret sauce? I still think I need a little more practice but I was definitely more precise and faster with that set up. I like the pro controller plenty but there was something more organic about just tilting the right joycon up and down versus the whole controller. If the right stick had just a little better positioning it'd be perfect. I am pretty surprised how much I actually liked it.

I mean, you can write whatever you want, but I'm the one actually playing my games, not you. It's obviously not every time, and I have gotten on some good teams, but when you're consistently the highest scorer of the game, you see teammates doing stupid shit or not painting significant portions of the maps, and you're consistently on teams that have very low level players against those that lack them, I think I can come to my own conclusions.

apparently my aim tanks when I drink, I dropped from 2012 power to 1830 last night. It's not much better when I'm hungover. I had to switch to the mini splatling

Do you understand anything about probability?

If you are rolling 4 dice and your enemy is rolling 4 dice and you're each adding up your scores, you are not going to lose way more than 50% of the time.

Why in the world are you picturing some grand conspiracy where Nintendo is consistently matching you up with bad players? Just to torment you? You've never seen a person drop from the other team, a person idling on the other team, a person going around meticulously painting the walls on the other team? It only happens to you?

Well, the conclusion is that matchmaking isn't random... I never said it was, just that IF it was, an above average player will win more than 50%

Just had a match of us level 15-23s vs their team of 30-36s.

The only word I can use to convey just how badly THEY lost would be "clowned"
They didn't even have a DC or AFK!

Lol, who said anything about a fucking conspiracy, or that it only happens to me, what the hell are you talking about? Like I said to Korean above, I'm playing my games, not you. I've played this game and the first to know what a rather shit team looks like, and I've got plenty this time around. Sorry this bothers you so much.

Mayo Queen rank achieved! I AM THE KING QUEEN!

I started out with a bad lose streak, but quickly turned it around and got many more wins than losses in this quest for Splatfest royalty. This is actually the second time I've ever gotten to King/Queen rank--I've never had enough time to get to it, but I should be able to every time!!

Player level doesn't mean all that much besides how much time you've played the game.

Yeah, but that isn't necessarily a meaningless thing, either. Generally speaking, a Level 3 isn't going to be as skilled as a level 19. I mean, unless that level 19 is truly terrible, which is very possible as well lol
