Disagree. EGS is theoretically great for consumers. It provides developers with more money which could lead to better games and less reliance on MTX to try and earn back a profit. Of course we will have to wait to see if this comes to fruition. Lets check back in 3-4 years. Plus Steam sucked for literal years before it got the QoL improvements that people are so fond of now
I disagree, no cloud saves, no achievements, no profiles, no community options, no VR API, no Workshop for ease of use when it comes to mods.
You can't compare EGS to what Steam was when it started, we dicsuss the present.
That is less an issue of EGS and more an issue of shitty devs. EGS didn't force them to do it.
This I can agreed with, but it still pisses people off.
If you had preordered on Steam, didn't you get a code for it regardless? I may be misremembering.
No. Everything is EGS.
You don't speak for all PC gamers. As a PC Gamer, I don't want digital in general - I want physical and I have been fucked over for nearly ten years now because of Steam and other digital store fronts. Where are my options?
There's not many of you, but I definetly see how that is a problem, but this also coems down to publishers and developers themself. They are free to choose.
The CEO of Spiderweb stated many years ago in a GDC speech that many things and services that they had to have full time employees to develop for them, Steam provides them for free, so I guess that is also a reason why many devs/pubs just put in a code in physical boxes.
Also, devs can generate as many Steam codes they can for free, Valve doesn't take anything, which is why we ahve lots of other stores (GMG, Humble, GamersGate, CDKeys and so on) which let's me show you this:
