It’s the adult forumer version of throwing a tantrum because you didn’t get what you want. There’s a whole thread dedicated to appeals, where this could have been discussed sensibly.

Moving on to what’s being discussed, this post, which remains undeleted and received a lot of love in even a niche thread, was a much better way to make your point:

You’re describing a dislike of particular cultures. That’s fine. I don’t like black ghetto culture either, but there are other similar cultures I don’t like that aren’t race-exclusive. The point of liberalism is that someone’s race, gender, etc. doesn’t define them culturally, i.e. a black person can subscribe to American cultural values. Black ghetto culture is not equal. Cardi B is not a productive member of society and does not deserve her fame or fortune. She’s not a role model and the fact that she has risen to such prominence is a sign of a corrupted system. Perhaps that there is too much — or preferential — social mobility. Someone like Ben Carson should be a black role model but he’s not because he has the wrong politics and “acts white”. The left’s soft bigotry of low expectations has disastrous outcomes when it raises lesser cultures to have an equal say in the direction and structuring of society. The goal should be to induct people into the majority culture irrespective of immutables, not dismantle culture and turn it into a free for all.

What you described, on the other hand, was straight up racism. Prejudice based on color, birth conditions, and origin. In a forum with a worldwide reach, and plenty of blacks, gays, and Indians, imagine being in charge and having this on your front page.

For what it’s worth, I, from the ant’s eye perspective, would have preferred your post stayed open, so we could discuss this with you and change your mind.

However, it shouldn’t be a great mystery to why it was locked, or a point of contention so large, you have to quit the forum. Then again, I hear that you have a history of mistreating people here with edgy hot takes, so maybe that’s your thing?

Imo, you should drop it, and stick around.

Gargus has a point here: it's ok to be racist or homophobic or whatever, BUT it's not ok to not expect backlash or criticism about it. All ideas should be debatable, but also everyone should own their own discourse and repercussions.

So... yeah... I disagree on most points of views from Gargus (racism, homophobia, etc), but that's me. I can't force him to change his ways and he can't force me to change mine. We can agree to disagree.

Nah, dude can do whatever he wants in his own mind, and his own home. Posting about it on a gaming message board was ignorant. There's no discussion to be had here on that topic, and tbh within most corners of the internet. The worst part is that he probably didn't think what he was doing was bad.

Nah not really. I think I understand what he was trying to say but he worded it very clumsily and made the common mistake of conflating race and culture. The former is immutable; the latter is not.

Dunno, man. His section on black comedians had a lot in there that rang of "I'm not racist, my best friends are black". I'm all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt, but then again he did make this thread. I will say props to the mods and EviLore EviLore for laughing this off. If this were another forum he would have been burned at a stake for the first thread, and probably dox'd for the second.

Shrug.

I know the hooting and hollering culture that he’s talking about and I don’t like it either. The difference is that I recognise that it’s not exclusive to blacks even if there is a correlation. It’s fine to not like cultures; it’s not fine to deprive someone of rights based on an immutable characteristic. He did say this even though it was seemingly lost in his overall message. I’m not gonna hang, draw and quarter him because I think I get what he was trying to say even though his ideas weren’t fully formed and were poorly communicated.

I think neogaf as a site is right to protect itself from specific things that probably could end up making a bad image and thus hurting it.
And another thing, OP could've easily discussed the same things philosophically if he had only bothered to rewrite the post and used a different language.
