Next-Gen PS5 & XSX |OT| Console tEch threaD

Medium's apparently an Xbox Series X exclusive, which wasn't even made clear during the stream.

There are two types of exclusives in this case. Exclusive to next-gen consoles or exclusive to XSX only. The context of that question was whether to make it exclusive to next-gen or will XB1 get support too. So, he just says it depends on what the dev wants. (My speculation is he meant Medium will be exclusive to next-gen only)

You steered the conversation in other direction with mid-late gen/'outliers' which I don't agree with. Any big budget title exclusively being developed for a console, the differences are immediately noticeable. Even with Bethesda who haven't updated their engine since PS3/360 days, the differences can be noticed between Fallout 3 and 4.

Whatever looks best on PC right now is gonna be surpassed whenever next-gen only software starts making its way on that platform, like it always has been. We don't need to temper our expectations or work around an assertion that we are the visual limit of what can be achieved. So, let's agree to disagree.
I didn't steer anything in any direction.
Read what you quoted again.

"Most games"
"Won't look MUCH better than"
"Late in the previous gen PC Games."

You are over-reacting and showing the only outliers that actually have a "leap" in graphics. The majority of games do not have a "leap" over what is being done in PC gaming late in a previous console generation. My statement leaves room for most games looking BETTER than what is being done on PC before a gen starts.. just not much. "Leaps" are few and far between and mostly towards the end of a generation, or to be frank, come from Sony first party.

You are the one steering this in a direction; I never said differences weren't noticeable.. nor was I comparing 2 generations.. like WTF? I'm comparing PC GAMES late in a generation (think 2012/2013) to CONSOLE GAMES of the next generation. MOST GAMES this gen are not huge leaps graphically over what PC was doing in 2012/2013.

And this isn't a platform war post; I like consoles and PC... but most games in general across all platforms aren't graphical showcases if we are being honest. I'm talking about the best of what is being done on PC vs. "most console games." Not intended to be a fair comparison, but also not a "platform war post."

Most games next gen are not going to be leaps above Control w/ RTX on high end PC hardware of 2019.

Sony will hit near 22GB/s mark occasionally as Cerny stated, they're just saving it for another time. It's funny that they even deleted their compressed figures in their official blog to prepare for their optimal sucker punch.

Why would they delete that? Do we have the original posting?

Early gen, mid gen, late gen. It doesn't matter, the jump in visuals is noticeable immediately when big budget gameplay is shown. I pointed Rockstar output because both GTA V and RDR2 underwent through same intensive process of detailing.

Anyways, here is a GIF of Infamous on PS3 and PS4. Developed by same studio, and to fit your criteria it was a launch window title.

I:SS was the first game to make me go 'WOW, that's next gen' on E3 2013, it's a graphical marvel till today.

After seeing this from Microsoft I was expecting to see many some games that are on par with it or at least pretty close.

Maybe I just had my expectations a bit high after seeing HellBlade 2 a while back.
Both GOW and HZD were revealed in a proper gameplay demo(no in-engine BS), I expect nothing less from Sony.

It wasn´t there at the first place, so nothing was deleted. Thanks to the internet archive:

I don't understand this new normal of having so many games developed for both current and next gen. I hardly remember any cross generation games when the PS3 launched. It's absurd that the last of us 2 has better graphics than anything shown today. I really hope Sony doesn't drop the ball like this.

They did show some cool games, it's just that people were expecting that amazing next-gen experience, and PR led them on to keep thinking that.
MS badly needs to make their marketing team more grass-roots, and less "marketing team."

I have my doubts anyone writing the tweets or hype cares about gameplay trailers or watched anything before making their hyped marketing statements.

But man.. it's been like this forever... fool me once... shame on you...

This is what I get from Inside XBOX events is that the game trailers are the pre movie trailers before the main feature of the infomercial eg game Pass, Smart Delivery and shit. Or another way is an infomercial masquerading as a games reveal event. If you listened to their community hype guys in the video who interviewed the devs they were all sdaying the same shit oh cool I'm super excited for this.... and then obviously the devs were to mention smart delivery and no loading times in return for showcasing their games and you can tell how fake the shit is which hurts it feeling genuine.

KZ:SF reveal at their PS4 keynote was that moment for me, you immediately 'get' that feeling what you're seeing is next-gen. HellBlade 2 is by far and way the most next-gen thing we've seen so far but they have been so muddy about the details. A gameplay with same level of fidelity would be that mic-drop moment which kick-starts next-gen, at least for me personally.

Why the hell did you overhype this event so much, Microsoft?

Managing expectations is not that hard, come on...

Anything short of eye-ball melting visuals will draw ire, we've all built up our own vision of what next-gen would be and when results aren't aligning, then comes the complaining. You know the expectations are too high when a PS5 technical discussion has 700k people tuning in, mostly mis-informed and mis-lead, expecting things out of the show which aren't simply there. I'm still baffled when they would be piping this edition of Inside Xbox if that's what they had in the store. Hopefully they don't hold back in their July event.

I guess that's why Sony won't even do a State of Play.

I find very cute people here taking my post as a console bs, because when I saw Godfall trailer I find totally shit as well, but I guess nobody remember.

Besides the AC lacking gameplay, was a fair trailer. Dirty don't look so bad either, just not 'next gen'.

Some ppl take this too serious. You found Godfall shit, I found it to be actual gameplay and better than most of this. Am I mad at you or anyone tht doesn't like it? No! The presentation was shit and we mostly knew it would be 3rd party stuff with little substance.

The white knight angle is cool but I call a spade a spade regardless if some ppl don't like it or want to seem like they are this cute neutral gamer and cant criticize anything. Now thts cute to me.

Hyped AF for this game.

And that is running in a PS4.

If was a VP/shareholder of Ubisoft I saw how today's broadcast happened I will very angry with people who put my most important
game of the fiscal year in that situation for the people who say of Ubi "you will see gameplay in Xbox stream" (was seconds)
and for the people of Xbox who says basically "this probably the only game with seconds of actual gameplay" only increase the hate.

Edit: well maybe not shareholders then only care profit hahaha

My first initial thoughts of this today were no doubt seeing a few trailers of course. Maybe two games (Valhalla being one) with a 5-10 minute segment each where we are sat down with a game developer walking us through a gameplay segment in one of their games. Controller in hand going through the levels, HUDs on, all that and explaining what's going on.

Well, if they chose this moment to get people excited over the new Xbox... They need system sellers, or they will be in a pretty tight spot this generation as well.

But hey, Phil Spencer specifically said "When you talk about Nintendo and Sony, we have a ton of respect for them, but we see Amazon and Google as the main competitors going forward" so they probably don't care that much about having those or not.

Good thing I didn't watch that live, it was painful. Lots of filler, sorry to say, but from a personal perspective I am excited only by Scorn.

Sony, your move now.
