Neil Druckmann receiving death threats since The Last of Us Part 2

It always sucks to see, I mean, it's completely disgusting really. It's unfortunately what happens when "fans" love characters, a series, a universe, and the direction goes where they don't want. It's beyond uncalled for, but keyboard warriors are always going to be present until they can no longer be anonymous. :messenger_frowning_

I agree

- Naughty Dog are overrated as fuck.
- Neil Druckmann is a talentless male feminist hack.
- Sending death threats over a shitty storyline and SJW propaganda is uncalled for and just as shitty.

The far-left agenda can (and should) be fought through more civilized and intelligent means.
As probably many have stated already (I havent read the whole thread yet) the first two statements there are just trolling.
ND has proved themselves for years. Don't take all you read on-line for facts.
As for Neil, I can't say I disagree with what he's preaching as I think people should be able to live their lives of their own choosing, as long as they don't make it their agenda to shove it in my face.
I'm all for equality, as I belive most people are, but when you're clearly pushing some agenda, it has gone too far I my eyes.
Still, I can look past that and appreciate the talent, even if I may not agree with his execution.

Do you have any idea how many death threats the average 14 y/o gets playing Call of Duty every day? Even they are mature enough to realise that it's just salty people on the internet. This man is a fucking child looking for sympathy.

There is a difference between an anonymous kid and a well known developer who is the target of the worst gamer backlash since gamergate.

What's the difference?
When is just trash talking where the other is vitriol directed at a known person who gamers are mad at for god knows what reason. People are mad at Druckmann is he literally killed somebody. Truth be told though the death threats against the 14 year old are not okay either.

I knew he was a fan of Anita but taking the whole fake-death-threat thing out of her playbook, eesh

Ah right, I forgot about gamergate's massive bodycount. Truly dark times, all those strong women and male allies gamergaters killed.

Oh please, this dude is a full of shit hack and has been proven as such.

I am not sticking up for ND in any way when it comes to culture wars, but this dude clearly wanted to make a name for himself, and he is currently nothing.
He's the animator from Mass Effect Andromeda HAHAHA!!!! Is Woggleman championing the SJW agenda here yet?

Do you think the average 14 year old has a profile as high as Neil Druckmann? And even though it's completely reasonable not want to receive death threats, he didn't even ask for sympathy, mentioning it in the first place a light-hearted tweet that ends with an emoji. That hardly makes him a "fucking child", does it?

Games industry / Game devs don't agree with you. Game sales don't agree with you. Review scores don't agree with you.

Pussies wouldn't say boo if they were face to face, but behind a keyboard, screen and online persona they get all lippy.

Fucking weak.

Luckily nobody was killed but gamergate was a disgrace to the gaming community and even if nobody was killed people were doxxed and had their home address posted online. Do you think that isn't scary? Do you think anybody should enjoy being the target of an online lynch mob because he made a game that doesn't suit your tastes? Stuff like this is why I am ashamed to tell people I enjoy games.

Ask Alec Holowka.

Some random twitter user who could be anywhere in the world tweets "kill yourself"

HELP IM GETTING DEATH THREATS

It's pathetic when women do it so they can get victimhood sympathy points after acting like a cunt

Even more pathetic when a male feminist turdling does it

Turdling alert

Yes even more pathetic when people look at title an jump to conclusions without reading the actual post.

I don't really see how he's begging for sympathy. Clearly just a snarky bro-to-bro talk joke with Corey.
A lot of you read extremely deep into this stuff

I am not that obsessed to send devs death threats. If I see something that I don't like, I just don't support it. This old saying is always relevant. "Vote with your wallets".

Video game people still using Twitter to air out every part of their life. Look at me, look at me, look at me! I think I'm Lebron James or Taylor Swift media mogul. To the bitter end I guess.

Funny how I've work at companies with brands that sell over $1 billion per year, and I've never seen the CEO, VPs or Marketing Directors, or the middle of the road marketing managers in charge of the products go on Twitter, YT or Instagram gab about stuff like this.

Believe it or not gamers, when I check coworkers social media accounts, it's personal stuff, family photos and vacation pics. Who knew.

Just about every public figure gets death threats these days thanks to the points of access provided by social media. It's shitty and uncalled for, but best to just brush it off since they're rarely credible threats.
Cant take death threats lightly boss. Like I do agree with the rest of your comment that social media provides a platform to hide behind anonymous profiles to carry out these attacks.
There are people out there crazy enough to make good on their threats.

If that's the case, people with a social media accounts better spend 24/7 contacting the police over every hostile comment. The bigger the account, the more threats and shitty comments.

There's a difference between people yelling a YT comment vs. a disgruntled customer in a store going up to an employee and showing a knife.

Anyone who takes death threats seriously is an idiot. Cuckma'am is just using them for sympathy points.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

No doubt, Sony, ND and Druckmann have been working OT trying to sway as much attention from leaks since it happened Sunday April 26 afternoon. Less than two weeks ago.

- Next day a new release date suddenly pops up when 3 weeks earlier it was TBD due to COVID-19 and logistical issues
- ND issues an official tweet about leaks
- Crackdown on social media sites/copyright take down
- Neil Druckmann tells gamers to fuck off on Instagram (Kurt Cobain post)
- A new LoU2 trailer comes out of nowhere which was obviously done fast as it's a slew of cut and paste 5 second scenes
- Neil Druckman does a video wearing a white tshirt where it looked like rolled out of bed
- Neil Druckmann telling Barlog about death threats

That's sure a lot of social media for a game in 12 days. And I bet I'm even missing some.

This "generation" is so weird. People getting angry over a video game story.... I bet that if MGS2 was released today a shit ton of people would go after Kojima, saying that he has an agenda or whatever triggers some people off...

It's a game about a lesbian teen fighting zombies in a post apocalyptc world... And people are angry threatening the creator... Weird shit...

The big problem with your augment is most of these are likely to bring more attention to the leak....

What did you expect them to do? Sit back and do nothing? That's just ridiculous. Who wouldn't do damage control? This is a for profit company.

I'd argue and say that anyone who says "anyone who takes death threats seriously is an idiot" is actually an idiot. To you who isn't receiving those death threats, it might seem dumb, but to the person who is it's very real. If I had a family member who was getting death threats, no matter where is came from, I'd take that shit seriously. Would you not? If it was your sister? Your brother? Your mother? I don't think it's dumb at all.

You should have been on Yahoo Stock boards in the early 2000s. Barely moderated. Tons of insults and everyone who hated each other on volatile boards (tech and dot.coms) were a cesspool of people going at each other. Threats included. People even scoped others out by finding out where they lived and posting their address.

You never know. Someone could have got killed. But chances are very slim.

Best way to avoid social media stupidity is get off social media. but if someone wants to keep tweeting, you got to accept some people are dicks and will come after you.

I've never had anyone come after me in social media.... not even on GAF and I got like 10,000 posts. Reason being I don't have a YT channel, Instagram or Twitter. And my FB and Linkedin are for career people and family.

Get out of the spotlight helps get you out of troller bullseyes.

I person planning to kill you isn't going broadcast it. If you took every death threat seriously I don't think you should be on the Internet.

If I replied to you '' I'm going kill you'' would you go running to the police?

I personally would not, up to a point. I can defend myself, I also have a healthy collection of knives and guns. But who knows about Neil, who knows what kind of person Neil is? He could be a scaredy man, you never know. I watched too many shows, documentaries, biographies, you name it, of crazy people. You may not be scared or take is seriously, but you're not that person. That person may be scared and that's valid. That's all i'm saying.

You say that, but how do you prepare? Or deal with it once it happens?

We see the damage it does to kids (online bullying), even adults. Is it just something you really gotta just brush off? Because I can imagine if its just this incessant barrage it can be hard to get your head around.

My doctor told me that I'm not really living unless I'm getting at least one death threat a day.

(But seriously people who become poser e-assassins because their feathers get ruffled are lame as fuck)

Never understood why people would make statements like these. Naughty Dog are underrated if anything, they produce GOTY after GOTY and high quality games which millions love to play. Unless you can deliver the caliber of games with the critical accolades Naughty has produced, I'm not sure you are in anyway capable of calling Neil a talentless hack.

As for the third point.....A creator's work is his vision, he can create any story or work of art he wishes to express.....It's his work, instead of suggesting that people should try to fight his work or the stories he wishes to tell, why don't you just create your own so people can buy trillions worth of your vision? I'm sure you will see it's not all rainbows and unicorns and not everybody is a drone to a specific line of thinking or what type of media they choose to consume.....Options are great, if you don't like Druckmann's work you can just move on and keep on consuming what fits your fancy.....I know I won't be too vested in campaigning against what fits your bill......

Actually. It's such attitudes of "I don't like thing, lets raise a pitchfork", that has inspired others to go the extra mile of "death threats" in the first place. They are not entirely too far removed from each other...

ANYONE WHO COMMENTS AFTER THIS POST I'M GONNA KILL WITH A MOTHERFUCKING SPOON. THATS RIGHT IM A CRAZY MOTHERFUCKING AUSTRAYYAN. AND IM HALF GERMAN! LOOK OUT CUNTS CAUSE IM GONNA KILL YA!

hey, making death threats is kinda fun :)

Boring posting highly offensive memes on fb is fun that will get inbox full all sorts of threats, and maybe even fb jail for a day.

"Anonymous internet trolls said they'll kill me PITY ME!!!!"

Fuck. Off. Druckmann.
Welcome to the internet you pathetic man baby. Grow a pair.
They're empty words from guys on a computer somewhere that most likely look like Napoleon Dynamite.

Enlighten me. What did I miss? Looks like he's playing the victim for sympathy points by making vague death threat claims.

"Sorry, Cory. You haven't hit the necessary death threat quota. Maybe next year."

Credible death threats are serious. Don't claim you're getting them unless you're willing to show the evidence. People who are infected with the feminism mind virus like this cunt is know exactly what they're doing. They know that victimhood provides a criticism shield so they act like cunts then garner victim sympathy from low IQ morons to absolve themselves.

My family members do not have millions and millions of followers on social media like Druckmann does. So yes, I would take any death threats my family received very seriously because the person sending the death threats would most likely know my family in real life. Someone who IS an actual threat.

Druckmann knows that the threats he gets are not genuine.

It's funny what's considered a death threat these days, especially by those types of people. Kind of like how rape doesn't really mean rape anymore. It just makes these words lose their meaning and with it their impact, which just ends up hurting actual victims.

Anyway, him getting bombarded by negative messages in general seems appropriate.
