Neil Druckmann receiving death threats since The Last of Us Part 2

I have no problem with people disappointed in TLOU 2.

My problem is people like this who resorts to death threats. The issue is when the game is released and even before it is released and you properly criticize the game, chances are the defenders will lump you with the people who made death threats.

Case in point: Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Enlighten me. What did I miss? Looks like he's playing the victim for sympathy points by making vague death threat claims.

"Sorry, Cory. You haven't hit the necessary death threat quota. Maybe next year."

Credible death threats are serious. Don't claim you're getting them unless you're willing to show the evidence. People who are infected with the feminism mind virus like this cunt is know exactly what they're doing. They know that victimhood provides a criticism shield so they act like cunts then garner victim sympathy from low IQ morons to absolve themselves.

Your reading way to much into it there clearly having a laugh. You don't design game like last of us 2 not expect no death threats. Last there's no indication that he's classes them as '' Credible death threat'' another one of baseless assumptions, Im sure he knows that there just trolls.

Oh boo fucking hoo, Neil. Everyone famous gets death threats.
Yes death threats are a shitty thing to do, and if you do them you're a cunt.

But he's clearly just playing victim here. Why did he even bring it up? It had nothing to do at all with the tweet discussion.
Typical SJW behaviour. Cry and play victim and virtue signal and every opportunity possible.

Are Cuckmann threads replacing the SSD threads?

I disagree. A feminist would absolutely attempt to utilise victimhood as a criticism shield, and he has been copping a lot of criticism lately.

I remember when I was trolling on Call of Duty by blowing up our entire team with a bazooka at the start of Hardcore Search & Destroy rounds, and people would say they would hack me, kill me, etc all the time.

It was funny as fuck.

Still is.

omg but it's current_year

we in the court of public opinion now

In current year pillory is popular

He supposedly got random death threats on the internet guys. You should feel bad about all the shit you talked, and buy 2 copies of the game. Also, you should give some money to Anita as repentance.
I doubt he wants any sympathy here, high scores and millions of copies of whatever game he makes at ND says hi. Yet everybody seems to make light of a situation based on if the guy being threatened is someone we hate or till something actually happens......Then we say, we never thought this would happen.

It's a slap to the face to those with actual talent, in which they have, otherwise other studios would not be trying to poach them.

Bethesda has all the money in the world, and their in house development constantly puts out janky buggy messes even after long development cycles.

Money helps, talent shines.
If it was up to money, MS, Amazon and Google would be swimming in GOTY's..

no need to paint with a broad brush. It is usually unstable sociopaths (antisocial disorder), so maybe 4% of the population. Knowing there are mentally ill people on the internets helps temper my misanthropy. Most people wont try to terrorize you or ruin your life because of a videogame or a tweet.

and there are 'progressive' AS/sociopaths, so yeah...
Tbh, after the comments I read in that discord, you never know......Some people take this way too seriously, threatening a man because he created a video game you choose to hate.....for his opinion, creative expression or his affiliation is pretty tasteless and disturbing. Death threats in any capacity is not to be taken lightly, not with what has happened in this world before....

Not convinced this is exactly what he's doing here, tbh. I took it as an off the cuff remark.

Never understood why people would make statements like these. Naughty Dog are underrated if anything, they produce GOTY after GOTY and high quality games which millions love to play. Unless you can deliver the caliber of games with the critical accolades Naughty has produced, I'm not sure you are in anyway capable of calling Neil a talentless hack.

As for the third point.....A creator's work is his vision, he can create any story or work of art he wishes to express.....It's his work, instead of suggesting that people should try to fight his work or the stories he wishes to tell, why don't you just create your own so people can buy trillions worth of your vision? I'm sure you will see it's not all rainbows and unicorns and not everybody is a drone to a specific line of thinking or what type of media they choose to consume.....Options are great, if you don't like Druckmann's work you can just move on and keep on consuming what fits your fancy.....I know I won't be too vested in campaigning against what fits your bill......

Actually. It's such attitudes of "I don't like thing, lets raise a pitchfork", that has inspired others to go the extra mile of "death threats" in the first place. They are not entirely too far removed from each other...
Dude. That's probably the most reasonable take I think I've ever seen you post. I feel sorry for people that just can't enjoy certain media if they know what side of the political isle they lean towards. Not that big of a fan of ND, only because I enjoy fantasy styles of games rather than cinematic realism. The hate ND gets from some people, is way more than just video games. Its definitely a political tinge to it.

I hate what I've seen of the game and I loved the first one but people need to chill the fuck out a bit and lay off with the extremes going on. Just cancel your preorder or don't buy the game.

Why do that. Its easier to shitpost the usual drive by drivel - beta, feminist, woke, etc.

Im a moderate shit poster and have done my fair share over the years but people always take things too far. There's no reason to escalate to death threats. I'll never understand people.

Not angry at all. ND seems to get under your skin with how popular and well received their games are.

Where do you dweeb simps keep crawling in from 😂

Yes, the only reason someone could be critical of TLOU2 and/or Druckmann is because they're jealous.

You absolute amoeba.

How old are you? That's the best you can do. Tsk,tsk political keyboard warrior.

Also, I might ask - why are you so angry that he doesn't share your same views?

lol you pathetic little weasel doing the reply without quoting thing to show your contempt

not surprised you're a male feminist

Death Trolls, no real threat detected. Can't imagine any nerd actually capable of physically hurting a mouse, much less another person. They rage plenty good tho.

I don't believe him. Usually when thing blow up in these peoples faces and they are looking to play the victim card then you usually hear "I got death threats". Show us some evidence first

It always sucks to see, I mean, it's completely disgusting really. It's unfortunately what happens when "fans" love characters, a series, a universe, and the direction goes where they don't want. It's beyond uncalled for, but keyboard warriors are always going to be present until they can no longer be anonymous. :messenger_frowning_

Wirh the shut I see posted in Facebook by people I know posting under their own names I'm sadly not sure anonymity matters that much anymore.

He knows his game is going to be controversial, and has stated as much. You prepare by knowing this is all internet bullshit and consciously forming a thick skin.

Yes, it still sucks to be inundated with extreme negativity, especially over something as low stakes as entertainment. I have a familiarity with it. Your choices are to carry on, or don't. So you carry on.
I mean it seems like he's making a joke over it. Only reason why this was posted was because someone saw it posted on Resetera and decided to post it here.

My friend and I would block the finish line on the last lap in Project Gotham Racing on X360. Man, it brought some people's piss to a boil lol.

Death threats have always been childish and social media made it easier to write them. Just don't buy the product and if that's not enough boycott future projects from the same authors.

Seriously, seems more like an inside joke between them and other devs really. Death threats are a currency, the more you have the more you can cash in to get titles early.

- Naughty Dog are overrated as fuck.
- Neil Druckmann is a talentless male feminist hack.

- Sending death threats over a shitty storyline and SJW propaganda is uncalled for and just as shitty.

The far-left agenda can (and should) be fought through more civilized and intelligent means.

just another vile scumbag of an opinion from you!

It's all fun and dandy until some retard stands on a parking lot and shoots a bullet in your brain.

I would take any death treat specially if its directly at you or your company very fucking seriously. Specially as they know who you are.

Look if you don't like a game, move on to another game. Not all games are builded for you as gamer.

If that guy wants to make a SJW fest of garbage more power to him, sales will tell if there is a audience for it or not. No need to shit on this guy 24/7 because he likes other things.

Even though i despise SJW's and think their agenda is a genuine threat to a free society, death threats are out of order. Not that they will be serious threats.

I'm not even really looking forward to this game any more. It seems less about the game and more about Naughty Dog and Druckmann now. Not interested in that. I'll just replay the original, thanks.

Quite honestly, though, anyone with an opinion and any kind of minor influence will receive death threats these days.
Natural conclusion of online anonymity (or the wrong assumption that you are, indeed, anonymous).

Not to excuse morons who do that, but nothing in that is surprising.

When did death threats become something trolls did? It never was that. That's just keyboard warrior antics.

Not that trolling in its true, more subtle form is of much use these days. Too many crazies. Poe's Law. You won't stand out, you'll just get lumped in with the rest of them.

Death threats are just whiny keyboard warriors who personally attack because they feel personally attacked by elements of an entertainment product that they are in no way obligated to buy.

What did I do when I really didn't like Assassin's Creed 3 from the main character through to how the game ended? I stopped buying Assassin's Creed games. That's it.

Both are correct, people should not take it too far with their comments and yeah, the guy is behaving like a typical male "feminist":

1. Do something stupid that pisses people off.
2. Realise you fucked up
3. Wait for someone to take it too far
4. Claim to be a victim and make that guy represent everyone that is pissed off

It's a cowardly way of behaving to be honest.

Almost entirely correct.
2 doesn't happen. They know they're doing something stupid from the very beginning and are betting on 4 to have their way.

"If you don't let me call you a fragile male I'll call you a fragile male".
They always resort to insults first because they don't have any argument to begin with.

You can tell even when the game is not politically charged: they either hope to get away with something stupid as "I like change" or appeal to popularity or they flat out resort to insulting.

While it's obviously shitty to get death threats (even if if they are not credible), he made himself a target by praising and hanging out with Anita all these years ago even after she threw TLOU, Ellie and him under the bus.

Of course, she's totally irrelevant now and he's a high-profile dev working on a beloved series so he's getting all the hate. He made TLOU2 the poster child of the SJW movement and people are beyond sick of it.

I'm not worried for TLOU2 tho, I'm sure the gameplay will be fantastic even if the story is weird or whatever. Day 1.

That's a strange series of tweets. It starts off with Neil complimenting Sucker Punch on their great looking game, then Cory chimes in with asking if "early copies are on the table?" (implying that he'd love to get his hands on TLOU2) and then to this Neil replies with a joke about him not receiving enough death threats to "deserve it" yet, which almost seems to imply that Cory isn't enough a victim yet OR hasn't made a controversial (/leftist?) enough game yet, what it also does is conveniently sneak in there the Neil has been getting death threats, and of course this being the internet what immediatly follows when someone puts themselves in a victim-hood position is an outpouring of support and heart emojis.

I have no doubt Neil is getting death threats, and fuck those people sending them...but he almost seems to be "flexing" about it, and fuck that!

Social media death threats are pretty much the equivalent of 'I'm gonna kill you after school' these days. Throwaway, anonymous (in some cases) non-events. Same as J.K. Rowling receieving death threats from trans activists. Just a lot of empty vessels rattling round. And the only way to legitimise them, share them on social media 🤷‍♀️ - what a fucking great idea. It's a self perpetuating cycle of hate.

Rowling shared the tweets to cast the spotlight on ignorance and, I guess, to make it stop, also to draw attention to these nutjobs
Druckmann has shared as a badge of honour, same as Feig, Johnson etc. to show that 'bravery' in pushing ideology, has a cost.

I wonder why he doesn't share/reference the tweets/DMs/IG like the below which are far more in number (can't embed the tweet as it's a reply to a leak). Could it be that he's trying to maintain his reputation amongst his peers by painting all criticism as coming from these people, and manipulatively leveraging a bad situation fo rhis own gain?

Look death threats are obviously shitty, but they are so commonplace across social media for everyone that they've pretty much lost any power when they are held in reference to a current major event/release. It's just an over the top reaction by a pool of saddo's.

Spot-on, apologists cannot really refute this.
"Wait until journalists tell you what to think"
"Wait until the game showed [thing] under a different light so you change your mind".

And the sad part is, they will pretend it's only politics, while this is becoming the norm for everything popular that does something stupid.

What kind of shit is this? You're twisting all this narrative when the tweets are obvious and very easy to understand?

Neil is talking about an early copy of Ghost and Cory wants one too (it's not about TLOU2 at all)

All Neil has open his mouth and they will twist anything it into there political narrative.

He made a simple joke. There probably just upset all there memes and trolling hadn't driven him brink of suicide.
