Alanah is okay but wow, the comments are seriously fucked up. I know what's in TLOUP2 and im getting to play it so I can see for myself how bad it really is. If anything, she should stream the game regardless.

People have to have issues with gay people to criticize the game? I just don't think PDA belongs in games, nor should any form of propaganda (or simply pandering to a specific political demographic). I wish they'd pay more attention to feminism and the dev team's friendship with Anita Sarkeesian rather than complain about same-sex relationships.

It's more about shoving things in our face and sacrificing a good plot and saying things that anger fans, like putting all of the critical fans into one homophobic group, creating mentalities that make SJW's default to the "homophobic bigot" remark when debating the content of the game online. No, the narrative of the game just sucks for many people and the media are biased leftists, can people get over that? I'll just say "if you like it then enjoy it. If you don't, then don't buy it. I see an obvious distinction between someone who just watches a pretty girl play a game and a person who actually plays video games, and has no interest in THOT streamers.
 
Some people don't want to block and ban, but man, those things exist for a reason. Some people are the absolute worst and shouldn't never stop a person from doing what they want to do. If they try, then just phase them out and move forward.

If someone makes threatening remarks to you on social media, report it. If they make threatening remarks that indicate a serious danger (making serious threats and posting your address/phone number etc.), report it to the police.

But this whole, "people said mean things about me online and therefore I can't do what I want..."

I'm just kinda done with it.

I know it's hard for some, especially for women since they probably get worse comments.. but if you're going to be online you really need to grow a fucking thick skin.
Tell the fuckers to fuck off and then just ignore them. That's the only way to deal with them. I guarantee you the majority of her followers are fine, normal people. If you ignore the cunts they will go away.

This is the same woman who once said on an IGN podcast that she played through Metal Gear Rising without parrying because some guy on the internet said there was no parry system in the game. Clearly she takes things people say on the internet pretty serious.
 
I still remember one of the first video after she quits her IGN job is to talk about harassment to get more views. She's just capitalizing it over and over again. It's a great business strategy and sometimes I understand why some keep doing it.

I like Alanah, she's smart and a good journalist. Many of her videos about game reviews, journalism and bias in reviews are well worth a watch.

I hate the dumbass trolls who write that shit. We get it, you're an edgelord and 14. If you're gonna be offensive, go for it, but be actually funny and don't make threats you pussies. You aren't "shocking" anyone, we've heard it all before. Go back to the drawing board and actually find a smart way to direct your anger.

That being said, I watched her livestream when it was airing and a good 98% was positive or insightful comments about the game, these obnoxious kind of comments were a wild outliar. And frankly, if you're gonna be a public person on youtube (i've been apart of handful of viral vids, so i have some experience) you do kinda gotta toughen up and just assume that the shitty asshole 2% exists and will ALWAYS exist. What, are you gonna change the ugly fraction of humanity forever? No, a certain percentage of people are born dumb and we'll never fix that. This wasn't the majority and I don't like her implying that it was. This will just create tons of headlines about how "all gamers are immature babies." Not true.

And to clarify, I do feel bad for her, but to not stream the game ever again because of a handful of assholes is leaning a bit far into victimhood theater in my mind.

I've watched streams by female players who quickly deal with "harrassers" by banning them from the chat. "Look, another asshole, goodbye!"

So the two screens she posted are just black text over a white backdrop. No name or identifiers. Those could be comments from anyone on anything. She could have even typed those out and said they were sent to her. Unless I'm missing something here?

Sadly, comments like that are common on the internet. Blocking the people that make them works for me.
