Alanah Pearce Won't Stream The Last of Us 2 Due To Harassment

Jesus, a lot of incels in this thread just casually dismissing a woman getting threats. It's no wonder why many of you are in your 30s and 40s and still a virgin.

I'm sorry I just can't be that naive.
What? To think that she's human?
Sure, it means that she can score brownie points with her audience (double win) but it also means that she gets to play Last of Us without having to get distracted by tits.
I don't even look at my phone most of the day as I find it so distracting -- there's no way in buggery I would go near it if all I got was hate messages. She's doing the sensible thing.

LOL. Fuckin, check out Mr Pick-Up Artist here.

Step One: Don't casually dismiss a woman getting threats.
Step Two: ???
Step Three: Get laid!

I kind of feel sorry for dudes who think that grovelling on the floor at the merest whiff of clunge is going to get them laid.

Still, you seem quite the expert on incels and virgins so I hope your sniveling weasel approach will work out for you some day.

Imagine being so privileged that you make money from streaming games on the internet because you're a woman, and then still playing the victim card because you get some nasty messages.

The only reason she ever receives any attention is because she's a OMG GIRL GAMER. As far as I can tell she has no other redeeming qualities nor has she ever said or done anything interesting in her entire career.

She's just baiting people into getting more subs so when she does stream whatever they will watch her. Sad dishonest tactic if I ever saw one. You could just stream whatever game you want and be your own person. She should be putting herself first based on what she wants to do. Fail to do that and you are only putting yourself second and that isn't a good thing.

I don't watch any game streaming crap because it's mostly garbage but someone being triggered into not playing a game with made up fictional characters that some people are outraged over is hilarious.
People are so mentally weak these days.

Fucking toxic ass nerds.

Why does everything have to be so political nowadays? Shit is so annoying.

Your girlfriend always makes a point out of how much harassment she gets. Funny how that's usually the only times when she gets a little bit of limelight. God forbid she'd get views for any reviews she puts out...

Social media should require using your real name and sin number so if you do stupid shit like this you can be caught out in the open.
Lets see how brave they would be then.
Absolutely not. Removing any kind of anonymity from the internet is the reason half of this shit is taken seriously in the first place.

It's text on a screen from people acting out, get over it. And talking of brave, it's not very brave to not do something because other people don't like you doing it.

IRL they might not say to her face "you should be raped" but you can bet your arse they'll be calling her a slut behind her back

I dunno, I get heated if someone tells me I'm playing shitty in a MP game, I'm not sure it's fragility to not want to deal with people telling you they'll murder you.

Why the fuck are you streaming if you cant handle creeps and assholes? You become public once you press start on your broadcast. It comes with the territory. She's just posting this shit to be relevant again. She did it before when I didnt know who she was and became huge and now she did it again. Shes not dumb. Literally after posting that tweet she celebrates the sub count.

Don't pursue an e-celebrity career if you can't handle this, everyone who becomes this popular has mean things said to and about them.

Again was this gal, that one who did not bitched on the internet when received threats like 5 years ago and then she called that little shit mom and made him appologize, I think that's her....Need to find it...

YES IT'S HER!

How times have changed...

This doesn't feel TOO different from "why walk around dressed like that?" Honestly, there should probably be better moderation.

Who is she? Should I know her?

Exactly. I've never heard of her before today. Not sure why I should care about this either.

The scenario I see is a streamer trying to attach herself to the drama surrounding a "woke" game in order to increase her own fame

Bottom line is if you jump straight to claiming false flag... you're likely a paranoid loon.

Ockham's razor for a start.

Not trying to ignore the bad situation behind it, but this happens all the time.

Really, its one the bad things of internet and its not new to anyone. This sounds like she wants to make a drama out of it to score points, OP included.

Just say fuck to everybody and do it anyway. Report all if need it. But by not doing, she just admiting defeat to bad people who harassed her.

Nah, one has horrendous consequences and the can be easily ignored by someone who is competent and confident in themselves. That being said, good advice is good advice and just because there is good, easily to follow and realistic advice to avoid a bad situation doesn't mean you deserve it if it happens. Once I went to bed and had left my truck windows down. Woke up to find the stereo gone, tools gone, glovebox ransacked. I didn't deserve it and I should have kept my truck locked up.

Try and imagine we know exactly who did that to you and still couldn't do anything about it being done to you and you'd have the current state of being popular on the internet.

How do you get more subs when you're a mediocre games "journalist" and you've reached the saturation points that your looks or gender gives you? Fake harassment claims.

The idea is you need to deal with being victimized because of what you decide to do with your life. You don't need to be a REEEtard to think there's a problem with that sentiment.

Ok. I'll bite. First of all, the difference between some dumb ass twitch comments or emails and being harassed on the street, is a big one. Are you ready? You can fucking ignore, block and report the douchebags online, easily. Second of all, it is impossible to avoid online harassment. How are you people not realizing this? Nothing will stop assholes from trolling and doing this shit, ever and SHE knows that. SHE aint new in the business and she has been harrassed and trolled and received threats and shes's not the only one. Male streamers as well. Like I said, it comes with the territory and you just deal with it, thick skin and all. But no, she made a post on twitter because she knows the controversy regarding TLOU2 atm and she knows she'll get a lot subs for it. No one is saying death threats are okay. Fucking think.

The accusation seems to be she's trying to get more viewers but it's a weird accusation if she's not going to be streaming the game any longer? Clearly streaming TLOU II gives her lots of views, even people who hate her and the game want to watch!

I get what you're saying about the difference in severity, but I'm talking about a difference in how we deal with these things. In real life such threats, if we know who espoused them, get in real trouble. But even though you have an IP address attached to everything you do online we rarely hear anything bad happens to people utilizing the same behavior in an internet environment. Why? Before you tell me how easy it is to mask an IP keep in mind the NeoGAF moderation team have no trouble spotting people on alts constantly. Such death threats wouldn't fly here, why do they fly on platforms that don't even allow you to disagree politically without being demonetized?

Yeah because she is grabbing attention off of being a victim, still is streaming other stuff on the regular, and eventually will stream TLOUII cause she's so brave. This is a situation where she is CHOOSING to play the victim over an internet troll and clearly attention grabbing with it.

If you stop streaming a huge game like that shouldn't you give a reason to your followers like she did, though?

Why stop streaming it? I'll never support someone not doing what they want because someone said something mean.

I don't respect bowing to such people either but different people are more sensitive to different things. I had to stop raiding in Destiny 2 because dealing with people who can't follow instructions was making me unreasonably angry for instance.

Let me give you an example. After a male streamer took a break for a month, people missed him and talked about it and after a month or so when he came back, he reached 100k viewers on twitch. A lot of streamers do this. Some for legit reasons, others for the same reason we're having this talk and you can clearly see a lot of gaf are basically noticing the same thing. I cant give you an answer why it's impossible to moderate but making alt accounts, with vpn and all is easy. Not even gaf can spot all the alts, they just spot the ones that basically make a new account and that's it.
