Xbox Series S Revealed (Brad Sams) - $299 Price

Looks pretty much exactly the same size as the One X. The One X is like 5cm tall when horizontal.
A console for people who buy their entertainment center at kids gap lol. This looks solid to move people from the old S on gamepass over the next 2 years. I still think it needs to be 149.99 less than the PS5 DE.

Are we now at that point where we're going to dismiss literally every single leak even from reputable leakers?

Yeah, no, I had a thorough look into this and found out it's a twitter "insider" confirmed news - so apparently it's legit.

To be honest, I was in disbelief because that is one ugly console to my eyes, but whatever floats their designers boat I guess.

Am I missing something? It looks noticeably thinner?
Thinner in which direction? The One X is already small:

6.10 cm x 29.97 cm x 24.13 cm

The Series X is supposedly:
Height
12.2" | 310 mm
Width
6.3" | 160 mm
Depth
6.3" | 160 mm

So the size of the X fits pretty well with that video where they move it inside the Series X.

Goddamn it, now I want to see the full video this clip is taken from.
I'm assuming that will be part of the reveal video, which we'll probably be seeing in the next few days now.

I failed to read. Thought you were saying Series X with your initial post.

Time for bed!

Yeah looks like a speaker

I liked the renders that were pretty much a short Series X better

This looks so much better

$299 is a killer price tag, especially when there is always sales and promotions every month. That thing is going to gobble up casuals.

Series X $499 max. no way they charge double for the series x

Who is this guy with 27k subscribers and why does he have this first?
If you don't know who Brad Sams is then you don't follow MS or Xbox. Brad Sams and and Paul Thurrott are the main MS insiders people go to for MS news.

This was a huge find.

When people see games running on this at $299, it will sell gang busters.

How isn't it? It's a legit next gen console that plays next gen games, and it's cheaper than the current One X and almost as cheap as the current base consoles.

For those without a 4K TV this is all you'll need, and is a cheap way to get a secondary console. This would be a great way for those that couldn't afford both to now potentially do so.

What I am saying is, the reason it costs $299.99 is because of what it comes with inside the box. It would be a deal if it was higher spec but priced below cost. Still a good option for those that want to jump into next gen but don't want to spend a lot of money but I don't see how it is a deal. It is a good option to have from a pricing perspective but it doesn't get you the more powerful box. It is what it is.

It's a deal because it's a next gen console at current gen prices. Not really sure how that's confusing?

Maybe this, plus game pass, could present a pretty good value proposition? Especially if Microsoft step up their first party output.

Incorrect. According to Microsoft:

The Series X:

"Delivering four times the processing power of an Xbox One and enabling developers to leverage 12 TFLOPS of GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) performance – twice that of an Xbox One X and more than eight times the original Xbox One. Xbox Series X delivers a true generational leap"

The Series S does not.

It's the perfect trap to get people to jump into their ecosystem. It will be interesting to see if Sony is phased at all. Microsoft has to be the more aggressive one at this point. The console looks okay I suppose, I still prefer the idea of the small cube mock ups. Look, it doesn't look terrible, maybe a nice additional console in a house hold.

Ugly box

kind of weird that a nobody is basically making their console announcement.

can we all agree that the video game world needs e3, or at least a competent replacement? I feel like hype levels have been a complete wet fart.

So, $299 and $499 then?

More or less. And I might mean that literally..."less", I mean.

So, exact or less is what it's looking like. Interested to see what the pricing for the PS5 versions will be.

Also.... wouldn't say this thing is a looker, at all xD. Long as it's quiet and runs well tho is what really matters.

More powerful than the Xbox One X which launched at $499. So how is a more powerful console launching at $299 expensive. Fight me.

He already did.

You won.

And you didn't even have to try.

It is aimed at casuals and families especially multiple console families. The cost of 2 series x is a 999.99 the cost of 2 series s 599.99. This is also to hekp move gamepass members to nextgen over the next 2 years.

It's an entry level next-gen console which is priced according to what it is and what it offers. It's not a deal in the sense that you are getting something at a bargain - the specs aren't Series X specs so in my eyes it's just an entry level next-gen console. I am calling it what it is. I haven't denied that the price is going to be attractive to those who aren't interested in "power" but you also can't forget what Microsoft has been marketing to everyone.
