Switch #1 in hardware sales.

Dread would've been no.2 if digital sales were counted.Outside of hardware, Nintendo noted that Metroid Dread — which launched alongside the OLED Switch on October 8th — sold 854,000 units in the US, making it "the best start for any Metroid game ever," according to Bowser.

At least Metroid's on the podium lol.Aww was hoping for Metroid at 1 or 2 but I guess 3 is good. Doesn't count digital either so likely it got (much?) higher?
They doubled Prime's launch numbers with physical only? Sounds pretty solid.
#2 on both the PS & Xbox charts.Anyone see where Back 4 Blood charted on both platforms?
I find it kind of interesting given that it is on gamepass for one platform. Admittedly we don't have any actual numbers but quite interesting nevertheless.#2 on both the PS & Xbox charts.
Legs of tsushimaGhost of tsushima legs is great to see.
You forgot BOTW, that game was released in March 2017GOT, Mario Kart, MK 11, Spider-Man MM, Animal Crossing?
How do they do it? They ain't going nowhere.
Indeed. That's the one that always surprises me the most. Zelda never had this kind of staying power before. Or sold anywhere close to BOTW.You forgot BOTW, that game was released in March 2017
It'll have to keep it up for a while if it wants to break away from the other games in the series. Metroid Prime did well in its first month too.Outside of hardware, Nintendo noted that Metroid Dread — which launched alongside the OLED Switch on October 8th — sold 854,000 units in the US, making it "the best start for any Metroid game ever," according to Bowser.

For a comparison, Prime did 363,000 in its first month. It'll have to keep it up for a while if it wants to break away from the other games in the series. Metroid Prime did well in its first month too.
But if you figure in the popularity & success of the two systems + Dread launching with the OLED, it's not that impressive. At least not yet.For a comparison, Prime did 363,000 in its first month.
Selling over twice as much as the most popular Metroid is very impressive. But if you figure in the popularity & success of the two systems + Dread launching with the OLED, it's not that impressive. At least not yet.
Not when you have 4 times as many users in an era where gaming is a lot more popular and launched with a system upgrade.Selling over twice as much as the most popular Metroid is very impressive.
I contributed this month. Sorry...Kontributed.MK 11 still going
You can't do that kind of math here since Metroid is a special case for Nintendo game. But if you figure in the popularity & success of the two systems + Dread launching with the OLED, it's not that impressive. At least not yet.
Doesn't that bode even more well for Dread (nearly 100 million Switch userbase and growing?) way more visibility and solid word of mouth in the age of the internet? You can't do that kind of math here since Metroid is a special case for Nintendo game.
Metroid Other M on Wii(101M) flopped so hard while Prime on GCN(21M) succeeded
That is impressive I must say, Nintendo is on the role with the Switch
I'll take the Legs of Tsushima with plain low Mayne.Legs of tsushima
I think knowing the reasons behind a success doesn't take away from its impressiveness. But if you figure in the popularity & success of the two systems + Dread launching with the OLED, it's not that impressive. At least not yet.
Ghost ------------> TLOU2
Take that, Cuckmann!
Because, thankfully for most, it's still all about fun games.4.5 years old hardware is outselling new gens hardware
Yeah...you need hardware to be able to sell it.4.5 years old hardware is outselling new gens hardware
I really don't think so..The PS4 hasn't done that, no console has done that.Oh, I'm a Nintendo fan, but make no mistake, the PS5 would sell triple the Switch if they had them in stores.
That 854 doesn't include digital either. I don't think any of these numbers do correct?854k in the U.S., 100k or so in Japan, maybe something like 300-500k in Europe, combined with the other regions, Dread might be sitting at 1.4 or 1.5 million worldwide. Maybe.
With the holidays, I can see Dread crossing 2 million before 2023. Hopefully. Who knows how the legs are gonna be on that one.
The 854k figure likely does include digital since that number came directly from Nintendo. The sales figures outside of the US do not include digital. That 854 doesn't include digital either. I don't think any of these numbers do correct?
I know I bought it digitally, so ...
