I'm thinking about it tbh, and I set a reminder for 2 days before pre-orders start just in case I forget about making a clear decision.Bridges the gap between a high end PC and a console. A 4070 tier GPU isn’t a slouch at all. A bit slimy not to have a disc drive at the price, but I’ll be copping one.
Time will tell...But experience has showed us all not to trust blindly on any man from a corporation...Specially Sony, ask the Vita users...Exactly. That's what I meant actually, I missed a "for current gen games" after "sufficient".
Well.. the moment Cerny says the only reason the Pro exists is to do this..
I have no reason on Earth to ever doubt this man after PS5. Especially not over DF. Over anybody really.
We'll see.![]()
Takes from the ass huh?
TLOU 2 PS4 - 1080p 30fps
TLOU 2 PS4 Pro - 1440P 30fps
TLOU 2 PS5 - 1440p 60fps
TLOU 2 PS5 Pro - 4k 60fps
If you can’t wrap your head around what I’m saying then I can’t help you bub. PS5 is not “doubling the frames” of any games.
And if you think it is, you’re looking at it the wrong way.
TLOU 2 on PS5 has two modes:
Performance: 1440p 60fps
Fidelity: 4k 30 fps
The 4K fidelity mode frame rate is being doubled to 60fps.
There also is 40fps 4k mode on PS5
I have no need for a stand as I place all my consoles horizontally.
Is this clown for realRunning the game at “double the framerate” of the PS5’s fidelity mode is a disingenuous and false way to look at it when you realize the PS5 also runs all of these games at 60fps.
The Pro is not “doubling the framerate” of what the PS5 is capable of doing in these games. It’s not.
It’s simply allowing you to run the same games at the same 60fps target we all know and love right now, but with the fidelity of the “fidelity mode”.
The PS4 Pro did the exact same thing that the PS5 Pro is promising to do - Run games at the same framerate targets, while looking a hell of a lot better doing it. The only difference this generation is that the framerate targets are 60 instead of 30.
You need to remove the “30fps fidelity mode” from the equation and then things will start to make a lot more sense.
When PS5 Pro runs a game at 60 that the PS5 can only manage to run at 30, then we can talk about “doubling framerates”. But as DF themselves have already said multiple times - that’s very unlikely to happen.
Why not stop cross gen games first and see what the best base PS5 can do?
This whole thing would be a different story if most PS5 games were 30fps. That's just not the case at all.
We're halfway through the gen.Not for me, no.
I'll rather just wait a year or two for the new generation.
Are you sure all games are gonna run double the frames? GTA VI probably won´t.
I think there is a lot of value in a portable device that can play current gen games natively. The PS5 Pro is just a beefed up console. Some people would prefer more power and not value portability though.I dropped $650 on Steam Deck OLED and didn’t bat an eye. But for some reason $700 seems like way too much for a console upgrade. To each their own.
It’s pretty funny to see the fanboys concerned like this when Sony has done nothing but make bad decisions.Gaming discourse in general is not worth it right now. Just looking at the threads with new info and giving my two cents now.
I've seen some say that the vertical arrangement is better for temps but I don't think I've ever had an issue with them tbh.idk why anyone needs the vertical stand. I never bothered with it. I just set the PS5 down and let gravity do it's thing.

PlayStation got so overconfident that they sent themselves back to the start of the PS3 generation: overpriced hardware and no games.
Well when you have a trade in 699 isn't that much, I'm old enough to remember the PS3 being $600.![]()
But that felt like a premium system ... big HD (for that time), brand New Blue ray player, the black piano and chrome finishing... the ps3 60gb was imho a premium product.$600 in 2006/2007 is like $900 today though
Don't forget the Spider-Man font logo. But that felt like a premium system ... big HD (for that time), brand New Blue ray player, the black piano and chrome finishing... the ps3 60gb was imho a premium product.

Another one of the PS5 Pro's features is getting pretty much all of the Xbox Series X's games and having the best versions of them (on console).Xbox Series X 2 TB = $599
PS5 Pro 2 TB = $699
All the Pro features aren't worth an extra $100?
Get out of here.

Add in the drive for $80 more. You always skip that part. So it's $780. Add the stand to match the standard PS5 and that's another $30 making it $810.Xbox Series X 2 TB = $599

I think the system looks vastly better when it's placed horizontally, fits easier into media centers too.

Also for Europeans, the 2TB Series X is 650 Euros. PS5 Pro is 800 + 120 for disc drive = 920. Add in a stand and youre at around 950.
The real comparison isnt even vs Series X. It's vs PS5 digital at $450 US/450 Euro or standard for $500/550 Euro (which has drive and stand), where the PS5 Pro Euro price is almost double PS5's.
Exactly. The Japanese price of ¥120,000 is equal to $850~ before you even add the drive and stand. (All included, the price comes to around $950 USD).
That and our 2TB SX comparison friends conveniently forget that it's possible to get a cheaper SX with a disk drive, it's not possible to get any other SKU of the PS5 Pro at launch. Conveniently disingenuous.![]()

The Series X competes with the base PS5 ya doofus.
Talk about disingenuous.
Out of all the Youtubers and game sites, post all the ones that compare prices, features, image quality and overall value between SX and PS5 pro.The Series X competes with the base PS5 ya doofus.

Probably all (havent seen one yet) talk about PS5 Pro pricing and add ons in isolation, or against current PS5 system and price.

From what we know, the PS5 Pro is basically a fairly high end PC for $699.
This year's GOTY contenders so far.
Astro Bot - PS5 Exclusive
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - PS5 exclusive
Wu Kong - PS5 Console Exclusive
Now we can't even compare the two consoles launching this holiday season? Wow.That and our 2TB SX comparison friends conveniently forget that it's possible to get a cheaper SX with a disk drive, it's not possible to get any other SKU of the PS5 Pro at launch. Conveniently disingenuous.![]()
Xbox brought these comparisons on themselves when they decided to introduce a $600 Series X SKU. There's just a $100 price difference there but a gulf in performance.
For less money you get a base series X
So salty. Downplaying 94 MC+ games that will feature on most GOTY lists this year.A tech demo, an RPG from a studio that is a husk of what it was 25 years ago and a soulsborne wannabe that’s a solid 6.5…

when I talk games, you know what I’m talking about, don’t play dumb.
You talking about how great value PS5 Pro is a laugh because most gamers and game sites think different. Youre one of the only people I've ever seen out of all forums and YT and articles trying to justify PS5 Pro price vs a 2TB Series X.Xbox brought these comparisons on themselves when they decided to introduce a $600 Series X SKU. There's just a $100 price difference there but a gulf in performance.
Talk to your boy.
Not happened because the system isn't out yet.
Yes, the same current PS5 that competes against the Series X.
Maybe you should have both thought about that prior to leaping to defend the $600 2TB version of the Series X. It was poor value before and it now looks even worse against the PS5 Pro.
There is no defence for it and nobody in their right mind would purchase one. For less money you get a base series X or PS5, while for slightly more money you get a PS5 Pro. It's horribly positioned.
- Xbox Series X 2TB White - if that's the console I want to buy, I have to pay $600. I have no other option.
- PS5 Pro 2TB - if that's the console I want to buy, I have to pay $700. I have no other option.
Folks who are buying the new consoles this holiday will have to choose one of the two above options.
All the Pro features (which boosts performance by over 100% in some cases) shouldn't even cost the extra $100?
That's disingenuous.
