That there are 90 games already confirmed to be Pro enhanced suggests that it isn't too much hassle. Personally, I think patches will only be applied to games that have a good chance to attract more sales. Sony probably feels like adding Pro support to the likes of Returnal is a bit of a fools errand.

Saying that, it could be one of the games that benefits from boost mode, of which we know very little about at this point.

It does? I played through it and never noticed it running poorly at all that I can remember.

Could it look better with the PC graphical enhancements? Def yes.

Well when I say poorly I just mean the resolution was soft and there were some drops during hectic parts

It was playable absolutely but not a sharp and 100% stable game

If you have a 120hz TV/Monitor you can play the Fidelity Pro Mode with all of the new RT features at 40fps for smoother gameplay and less lag over 30fps. If you don't one have, the option is maxed at 30fps. As much as Riky got on my nerves at times buying an LG QNED85 was a great overall investment this generation.

Sony has tons of exclusive that will not get "ongoing support", Pro patch included, for various reasons. And Sony has no obligations to do so.
Efforts should be put in proper place. If it's unreasonable to do a Pro patch, than it's unreasonable.

Its a little bit more complex than that. The project itself probably scrapped and archived long time ago as studio moved forward (even PC port was not done by HMQ).
To get it back operational and get people familiar with it will require some efforts and time before coding itself can even start. There are a big difference between projects with ongoing support and projects that were moved from 3 years ago.

Not their priority. It's your wishes and nothing more.
Sony priority is to make and sell games, among others. So it should focus on efforts that increase sales. Cost of Returnal patch is delaying a new game. And getting Housemarque to divert resources to a dead game, whose sales probably hover just over zero, when they are now in mid to mid-late stage of a new game is unreasonable.

Easy but not free. And coding is not the only efforts required.

True, but presumably their next game is running on the same engine, so it makes sense to try and get the Pro mode running which will benefit not only Returnal but their next game. Similar to what Insomniac is doing. I think it's an inevitability

Yeah I have a Sony 120fps TV with VRR and it's great. I'm just trying to see what improvement this mode has on the Pro or is it the same.

They added higher resolution RT reflections and additional features that were exclusively on PC before but now the Pro can take advantage of them as well.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
RT Reflections: Medium (Performance) / High (Fidelity default)
Set the quality level for ray-traced reflections. The "Medium" setting ray-traces at half render resolution, and the "High" setting ray-traces at full render resolution. The "High" setting will also improve smoothness of animation in reflections. Only available in the "Fidelity Pro" graphics mode.

Some kind of AA that makes them look better? Obvsiously not PSSR quality, more something like FXAA

Its not the boost mode because it specifically mentions PS4 games not PS5

I heard about this and initially thought people were mistaken, it's clearly a system level approach so my guess is that it is a forced upscaler, but nothing really adds up for this setting at least at first glance.

They specifically say image quality rather than framerates. So at the end of the day, I think it is just going to force games into a higher resolution, but honestly I'm not sure what the value of that would be.

And it's not something they're actively advertising.

That doesn't add up. Can you think of a single game from PS4 that has DRS that isn't already maxed out by PS5?

Would be difficult to do this at the system level. Look at what the guy had to do to get Bloodborne working at 60 fps without doubling the speed of the game. He had to change the settings of various things that were all tied to the framerate of the game down to how cloth reacts...

PSRR support isn't system wide or auto enabled, this has been confirmed by a few developers working on the Pro.
So either these people spread bs, or this feature is pretty much what we already had on PS5 in principle.
But we'll see in a few days.

Probably not. PS5 is already at PS4 Pro + setting...

Edit: I say PS4 Pro + because there were multiple PS4 Pro enhanced games that took advantage of PS5's increased power. Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn are two examples.

It's fuckin' Friday November 1st, and with less than a week to go until this thing releases, you would have figured we'd have "some" word on the three biggest fighting games in video games.
Nothing from Namco, nothing from Capcom....nothing from Netherealm. Capcom never gave us a version of Street Fighter V (5) that ran well, or equal to, the PC version, for PS5. The PS4 could never run a PC-quality version of SFV, but at least a 5, and especially a Pro 5 version could.
Netherealm at least has taken advantage of whatever technology was there for their games, be it MK11 running on PS5, or MK1 also running on the 5.
Tekken is in the same boat as Street Fighter with Capcom. There fighting games never get enhancement treatment, due to them being too old, which would likely be the reason that most would use.
No excuses for Any fighting game made for PS5 not to have enhancements, because they all came out after 2023. If anyone broached this topic and discussed it already, then my apologies for not looking you up.

Should have mine home Sunday night, might play depending on how tired I am after traveling

Monday afternoon more likely as I am trading in my Bronco and my new one is in so getting that first thing

No one said it was PSSR, though it could very well be system level PSSR specifically on PS4 titles. You wouldn't want to do this on PS5 because games are already using reconstruction like FSR, so the result would be muddy and you would have an impact on performance.
