Should Sony open The Portal to smaller cloud streaming services?

Give them a central place to provide their service.

Like if publishers want to put their games on their own servers.

Selling the Portal hardware isn't as valuable as keeping players locked into their ecosystem. So should they? No. Do I want them to? Of course.

The entire purpose of the Portal is to increase engagement on PSN to keep folks playing either via remote play or PS+ Premium. They want folks spending more time playing games obtained from PSN and dumping more money back into their ecosystem via game purchases, subscriptions and microtransactions.

Opening up the Portal to other services that bypass PSN and all the additional revenue/engagement Sony want would make no sense and would go against the entire reason they built the Portal.

I wouldn't use it for that if they did open it up. The portal would suck to hold and watch a movie on.
