Personally, i hate the art style.

This game and the art style appeals to a mass market, this game will be riddled with MTX up to its tits and one of those games thats "240FPS @ 4k bRo with 1000hz, howd hE hEaDshoot me bruh with my 8k monitor?!?!"

It looks like the game was desinged by committe, "lets push a game out based on questionnaires from sections of the public"

Not for me.

That restriction was dumb af, if thats not representative of how your game plays than why you want to showcase it like that for the first time? Everyone said this game is missing the slow burn element of extraction shooters and that is what makes them good

So you spend 15 minutes playing a really dull FPS level shooting bullet sponge enemies who are really no danger to you. Then for the last 10 minutes you have to avoid coordinated gank squads to extract with the loot you just got.

Maybe that could work in a really visually stunning game or a game with some crazy compelling gameplay hook, but this just looks like pastel watercolor Destiny made by people who REALLY like the Off-White Nike stuff. "CAPS LOCK LABELS EVERYWHERE" I also see no reason why a PS4 could not run this game well. Were they really targeting the low spec PC crowd? It would not be hard to convince someone who wasn't familiar that Destiny 2 is the sequel to this based on the graphics tech.

I want to like it but Im really struggling with that art style. Looks like LEGOs or something. Just extremely blocky and plain.

Looks like when you go into training simulator mode from another game. But thats the whole game.

I'll take the gritty, realistic look of Escape from Tarkov over this any day. Marathon looks like a kid's game in comparison

Way stylized, like it's trying to appeal more to a Fortnite crowd than anyone looking for something immersive or intense. There's no weight or atmosphere to it. I get that it's going for a unique art style, but it just doesn't hit the mark for me. If I'm stepping into a sci-fi shooter, I want it to feel raw, grounded, and dangerous, not like I'm running through a neon playground

The game doesn't have compelling "down moments". Running from point A to B with nothing happening doesn't show well.

Sooooooo weird that Bungie simply doesn't understand what you JUST said. Geez man.....
I know I'm not the target audience for this type of game, but I really find Bungie pretty small-minded... I mean, The Division 10 years ago had an open world, PvE activities, and a fully integrated extraction PvPvE zone — sounds way more ambitious than anything Bungie has done in the last decade.

Should have maybe showed or explained the gameplay loop you're trying to sell when you showcased the game. Being intentionally vague isn't going to win you any favors, all it tells me is you lack confidence in your own product. These clowns man...

And the guns, as well as the non-building objects like crates/barricades/etc, look like toys. definitely a strange style.

Regardless tho, overall gameplay looks pretty stale. Not a big fan of extraction games but i've played a couple of them and this doesn't really seem like anything special.

To each their own

Tarkov looks like generic mil sim slop to me while Marathon actually looks slick and dystopian sci fi

Marathon looks nothing like Fortnite btw

Marathon isn't going for that. Bungie is about engagement

All the "slow" sections I've seen in other extraction games is straight up boring and unappealing to me. In marathon you're constantly running in to the next thing which is more what I'm looking for

If Marathon ends up surprising me with deep mechanics and a real sense of weight behind its systems, cool. But right now? It just looks like another soulless, market-tested product trying to ride the extraction wave without understanding what makes the genre actually work.

They have destiny son, what's this smooth brain take?

And the ambition is part of the fun. Seeing games like No Man's Sky, Fortnite, Mincraft, etc expand and expand over time IS THE POINT! Bungie is really being small-minded here like you said. I'm shocked at them.

That's cool, you see that and I see the game that's going to popularize extraction shooters and will become the next big thing

I haven't been this excited in a PvP title in over a decade

This guy I know at work, "Gamer" supposedly, only plays apex and escape from tarkov. Doesn't know any other game. never heard of dark souls or even skyrim.
He would love this dogshit.

Then the timing of this game is HORRIBLE!!! They need a hit. And they need it BAD! It can't wait for Destiny 3.
What timing?

Apart from Hunt Showdown, there is no extraction shooter on consoles.

As for PC, Tarkov doesn't seem more exciting in any way (gameplay, art style is a different matter):

Give me the option to enable pvp or not depending on if I want to really try hard or not
It's odd because barely anyone making extraction shooters today are following the better blueprint that The Division initially created, years before these other games came out.

It's like every dev watched a tutorial video on how to make a successful extraction shooter and skipped the first 1/3 of the video.

Right, but even Bungie thinks the running to next engagment looks boring. That's why they edited it out.

who the fuck cares man
just fucking flop and fuck off

like how the fuck can you get from early destiny to this clownshit

I'm not convinced Bungie made this game.

It looks like their least creative idea.
Hud design.
Gun design.
Enemy design.
Level design.

Just really bland

Compairing the gameplay to this....

This trailer oozes charisma compared
