UK PSN account permanently suspended? Help?

That's a phishing red flag.
Businesses use templates for these types of emails.
I received this after following it up:

Likely spoofed.
But then why ban my account for fraud and surely I'd be receiving emails if any activity was happening on my PSN account?
Also why could PlayStation support not detect it's been hacked and advise me on what to do?

They'd ban it based on whatever the hacker did to your account.

Bottomline, you were phished as Sony wouldn't send professional emails with spelling/grammar errors.

Maybe in your circles. All my friends are normal people not getting their accounts suspended on reddit.

The closest thing to that would be my friend who plays CoD and says questionable things, but again... he says questionable things.

People get banned from certain subs just for being a part of other subs where discussion is no different or worse than gaf.

Oh look at me, me and my friends are so morally just. Ugh. You don't know me or my friends, so take your holier than thou bullshit out of here.

Thanks, I'll report that email to a security company and stop using it.
I'll start to close the circle that I'm using to try and fix this issue.
Time to buy some first class stamps and rely on the good old days of communication.

I'm not talking about getting banned from a sub, the person was banned from reddit itself...

That's not normal. Has nothing to do with being morally just.

Did you have 2FA enabled?

But the email headers would show my personal email address, that's not something I want to do.
It's odd to me that you understand email headers but don't understand how to spot spoofing addresses or how to look up what the correct mail domains for PlayStation support would be. I'm not calling you a liar but the back and forth in this thread is just strange to me.

I only understand email headers because I just googled it and the example images showed that my personal email would be included.

What are you talking about that's not normal? You know what's not normal, Reddit bans people for not being correctly aligned with their political views. What about when Era was banning people for saying they would buy cyberpunk? Is that normal to you? I stopped going to Reddit in the middle of Covid when I saw people getting banned for saying they took the vaccine and ended up with side effects, oh no the horror, if only they had been normal.

You know what else is not normal, coming into a thread where someone is asking for help specifically just to put them down, act superior to them, and take sides with a multi billion dollar corporation who potentially stole thousands from him.

Literally none of that happened.

I said I hope this guy is being upfront and that he gets his account back.

Again, are you guys okay?

If I am being phished the only saving grace I have is the email I'm using is only associated with my PSN email, it's not a personal email used for anything else.
It can be shut down and deleted easily, I only need it open to try and solve this permanent suspension debacle.

You can easily identify headers to see if the e-mail is actually phishing... What is going on here?

Where did I say that... are you okay?

You said it's normal for big companies to hide reasoning behind account bans. So it's also normal to steal hundreds/thousands of dollars from consumers by banning their accounts (and not giving reasons for it)?

I know that laws are archaic and allows companies to do shit like this but you are not helping in any way by telling us that what sony do here is "normal".

Your email should be fine, it's just your PSN that was compromised. (Unless you're using the same password across both).

In which case you should change it ASAP, and anywhere else that password is being used.

People were focused on it being weird that Sony wouldn't tell him why his account was suspended.

The reality is that isn't weird at all and is completely normal for a corporation. Whether that normal is something you find offensive is up to you, but it's still the reality. I know you don't normally like to live in reality, but that doesn't change things either.

You guys remind me of barracks lawyers who try to tell soldiers how things work when they have no idea themselves.

Yes, I changed the PSN password yesterday, its the only access I have to the PSN account.

Do you think I've compromised my PSN by trying to solve this issue in the past two weeks or do you think it was compromised and that's what caused the ban in the first place?

Probably what had caused the ban in the first place if you can't think of a proper reason for why it was banned while in use by you.

I had 2FA turned on while the account was being used but I never received the six digit number through any text messages that would most likely have arrived if my account was being accessed.
Aldo the email or password was never changed and no purchases were ever made on the PSN store.

I do honestly think that it was flagged because of fraud but I'm trying to get Sony to give me more details of the fraud.
Although I never did receive any email of the ban and they say that it should have gone out.

F Forth dm me the email headers, i will check it for you.
This is going to sound really stupid because it was but I've started deleting all of my emails apart from the most recent case number and the email I sent to Nishino.
This whole situation is just making my head spin, it's mentally draining.

Those emails could've been the paper trail you needed to help you out of this, if you deleted them then it just decreases your chances unfortunately.

Check your trash and see if they are still there, recover them if they are.

If my account had been hacked then shouldn't PlayStation have contacted me the day it has been compromised?

Sorry but I've deleted most of them.
The whole inbox and sent box as a mess with the forwarding of emails to different departments and persons within PlayStation asking for help.
I wasn't getting any responses anyway.
The whole thing feels like a massive waste of time.

You should get those back, that's the proof you need to save your account.

Not in the case of a phish, which is where you unknowingly give out your login details to a stranger.
That's definitely not happened.
That could only have happened this last week so if they have my PSN details then it's for a permanently suspended account. Maybe they will have better luck accessing it than I have.

Yeah I'm aware you deleted them, but when you delete emails they usually go to the trash bin, where they can sometimes sit there for a long time depending on who your email provider is.

But what's the point if nearly every image is a template filled with bad grammar and spelling.
If you check this thread then you'll see a record of all of the image templates I've received.
I'm not hiding anything, I've kept the thread updated with any emails I received.

Picture this, you or a family member receives an email from "Sony", you or a family member clicks the link on the email and enters your login details. Those login details go straight to the hacker.

They have fun with your account and get it suspended in the process.

This is how phishing works.

I've emptied the trash bin, weird I know but I'm OCD like that.
I have a main personal email and everything I have I forward to that and use the Hide My Email service from iCloud to make disposable email addresses all the time.
I never click the links that are forwarded to my personal email.
I try to be as security conscious as I can but it appears this situation has exposed a few of my flaws.

Best to keep everything as proof.

But if that happened then fraud would mean they stole money but my bank shows not one single suspicious activity when the ban was issued.
The last two purchases from PlayStation that had shown on my account were purchases I could verify.

Some people just like to be assholes.
It doesn't have to be about buying anything.

You're right and I should but as I analyse it all it all just starts to appear as a waste of time.
My only hope right now seems to be a response from the email I sent to Nishino Hideaki on Friday.
I'm really hoping for someone from his team to read my plight and provide me with more information.
I'm even starting to think the SAR request will end up being useless too.

Sony wouldn't know this, they could think you sold the account for profit, or someone stole your account, either of those are against the TOS. In which case, ban.

If they think you sold your account to someone else, and someone else is now acting as you, the owner of the account. That would be considered impersonation, which is fraud.
