I really didn't like Doom: Eternal, so I'm super excited for this one. Loved that they pivoted, Doom Eternal was a bit too much.

WTF? Thats a massive miss, is it known with which patch? like if its day 1 patch (like idiana jones was i think) or if its even later/unknown to reviewers?

I feel like a fool for subbing to gamepass in advance to preload it now.
You're regretting subscribing to a service because it doesnt have path tracing? A feature which most liley cuts its performance on half even on a 5090 and should not be used in a high pace shooter anyway since you wont even notice the difference in actual gameplay scenarios? Are you retarded?

Ive paid about 900euros for a 3070ti and it was a steal, cheapest one in my country by 300euros at the time.

These things dont really matter anything anymore when half a decade card (3080) gets the same performance as a fresh 5070

Ohh yeah by the time the 3070Ti came out, that was the height of the crytpo boom so those inflated prices were wild.
But around launch before the boom 30 series cards werent that hard to fine.
I got a 3060Ti for near MSRP.......damn that was sub 500 dollars.

And we really need to give credit to Ampere it was reasonably priced if you could find one around MSRP (EVGA still existed) and the performance outside of 8GB RAM has actually held up really well even two generations later.
If it was for circumstance id still be on a 3080 with no feeling of upgrading till the RTX60s.

Glad I didnt preorder. All that parrying is fucking ridiculous
I'm so baffled by these mechanics and aesthetics in a Doom game. Dragon flying, mechs, parrying, blocking all this shit. I get wanted to shake things up but...it's Doom not the devs' random Action Game canvas.

I'm sure it's a fine game in its own right but I look at rhe footage and wonder how this isn't some Resident Evil 6 level Michael Bay idiocy.

Yeah, its my bad for not waiting to see if its there on launch, just assumed it would be since theyve shown it off multiple times already. Ill just wait and get it later, no biggie.

I am one of those people who dont mind using dlss and frame generation, plut it likely wont be such a drastic hit because the game already uses RT.

Sounds a bit like conflicting expectations from some reviewers. The traditional Doom games are there if you want to play those. You can only take that so far, without repeating the same game over and over. Im just expecting a good action game out of it, and I love parrying and shit in Dark Souls.

Think Im gonna find out for myself, when the early access starts.

ID Software could have sit on their success with Doom Eternal and make another Eternal but instead they choose to change the gameplay big, i give them credit for that.

How so? That game was incredible
Way too fast and chaotic for me, and some arenas really got me exhausted, and I deeply loved Doom 2016, so it was kind of disappointing

It's just a different vibe, but I know many people really like Eternal

This is a prequel, so it reveals why the Doom Guy does not give a shit.

I when ahead and ordered it on CDKeys. I am not paying full price.

I don't understand how those flying dragons and giant mechs fighting can drag the Review score down.
Those two minigames were not added to revolutionize game play but rather give the player something different between all gunfights and all. Its for a small distraction.

I liked both 2016 and Eternal so I'm def onboard with this. I bounced off Eternal when it came out, but came back to it recently and it clicked.

As Gmanlives describes it, they go on for too long for the (lack of) complexity of those fights.

But is it Doom though? 🤔
No. Just Quake 5.

Would love another Doom 3. A Doom inspired by Half Life level design would be great. I love atmospheric Horror Shooters.

Dark Ages feels like a cartoon with it's color coded prompts and bullets and mostly derpy looking enemy types.

I mean the progression isn't random, each nu-Doom game since 2016 has been taking more influence from character action games. This one is just putting you into more of a tank role, which I don't know if I'll like as much, but at least they're not getting boring with each new entry.

Dragon flying and mechs fight seem pretty metal to me though, and I'm surprised the series hasn't done those two things before tbh.

Didn't realize this wouldn't have path tracing at launch. Definitely won't be playing day one in that case.

Oh well, I'm fine with waiting a bit.

Doom 1 and 3 from 1994 were fast.

If you had auto run on, I guess 🤷‍♂️

Ain't that the dude who said Dragon Age Veilguard was the shit?
Mortis stays out of politics and talked about it from a gameplay perspective and even then he still says the other titles are better. Why do people go after this dude so much? I don't understand it: he's everything you guys say you want it out of journalist in terms keeping personal politics out, focusing on mechanics and experiences and gives his views on such.

Next Doom gonna take you back even further than the dark ages by having the Slayer running around in his underwear farting at the demons as a true show of his Power and Might

Glad I didnt preorder. All that parrying is fucking ridiculous
reminds me of how Mercury Steam introduced parry into Metroid on the 3DS (and the new one, but I haven't played that) and I absolutely hated it. It was constantly used too, required by every enemy's pattern, as if the devs didn't know how to make normal gunplay fun on its own as it used to be.

If their defining factor is Doom being anything deemed "Metal", the direction this series should be going in is slowly introducing Guitar Hero mini-games until we have to learn full Iron Maiden solos to parry and attack enemies. That would also tie back into Nu Doom's pseudo character action ambitions by taking inspiration from DMC3's Nevan!

Why am I not working for these people yet?

The games are giving me vibes that the devs might've used metal genres as a guideline for how to evolve the gameplay.

Doom 2016 - Heavy Metal
Doom Eternal - Speed/Trash Metal
Doom TDA - Power Metal

The music in of itself dosen't line up with this theory, but still kind of fit IMO. Been watching some more gameplay and it does looks somewhat fun, so will probably pick it up at a future discount/sale.

As for Mortis, over the years he's just become another algorithm-chasing, content-pumping, top list-churning, sponsorship-friendly "influencer". Good for him for getting that bag, but might aswell watch Gameranx/IGN.

Original Doom games for me always had nice balance of frantic action and tight dark corridors, it sure feels like strsght on speedy shooter because everyone and their grandmother can play it eyes closed today. Doom3 was about those dark claustrophobic tech and hell corridors anf new Doom IMO too much emphasizes the speed and hectic action, it's certainly missing a good chunk of what original Doom was about.

No 3090 either. It annoys the hell out of me when they do this, TPU also does that. HUB is still including it in their tests.

Still not there, PT is going to come with a future patch.
U got shown 3080ti which is basically few %(1-3% if no vram problems) cut down 3090(i know coz i got 3080ti in my desktop pc), just add 1-2fps to 3080ti score and u golden( other similar gpu's would be 4070ti or 5070 but here can be variance 5-10% even coz of newer archi- just for future so u dont have to wonder about ur gpu scores when looking at gpu perf charts ).
