There literally wouldn't be any games reedy for it.Why would anyone not want next gen consoles as soon as possible? I'm all for shorter generations and more up to date gaming experiences.

He's one of the leakers that post on here.
Oh come on, you guys! The best leaker out there that doesnt try to drive you to a site wanting to get clicks
So reliable you have Eurogamer make articles on his leaks

I have gone dark on future info, all in due time![]()
This is just an announcement, they have been working with AMD for many years.
If you think we needed Phil Spencer to get a new Doom game then I have a bridge to sell you.
Majority of those games were coming anyways.
Also, did anyone feel bad for buying a Xbox One X in 2017, only to have it replaced three years later?PS6 is 2027 and most sane people expected this. People not expecting this have only themselves to blame.
I would imagine that they are trying to unify their gaming and Windows experience into one streamlined operating system that will be the primary consumer Windows option, while delegating the legacy Windows builds to the enterprise/corporate domain. At least this is what they should be working on.The most important thing is gonna be the OS quite honestly. Probably smart that they're actually letting the other companies launch the portable versions this year to at least give them a good test bed for the next launch so it doesn't come in completely hot.
My point is Sony and Nintendo fight hard for console sales and living room presence throughout an entire generation and then try to carry that momentum into the next generation. Microsoft seems to be doing the opposite, almost as if they don't care about the traditional console market anymore.I'm not sure what this has got to do with them pledging to make powerful, flagship next gen hardware.
Looks like they're phasing out the subsidies on hardware.
Currently, you are correct. The Rog Ally isn't the end game though. It's a stop gap. If MS is serious about "Play Anywhere" then that's the route this will eventually go. The bigger hurdle will be licensing issues. Not technology.
The image quality on a lot of games coming out on base PS5/Series X is fucking atrocious. New consoles are needed ASAP.There literally wouldn't be any games reedy for it.
All you need is something to run Unreal 5 at top specs for a good while. Unreal 5 is just now hitting its stride barely. There literally wouldn't be any games reedy for it.
Nah. If it's launching next year, they would have all that figured out already. They can still lock licensing specifically to the console SKU, if they want, so that it isn't playable on PC.Running Windows may prevent GTA6 from running on it.
Holy game industry propaganda, Batman! The image quality on a lot of games coming out on base PS5/Series X is fucking atrocious. New consoles are needed ASAP.
Been there before. Something about it for sure.Very true - but im one of those crazies who prefers original hardware for the classics.
There is no console SKU, that's the tricky part.Nah. If it's launching next year, they would have all that figured out already. They can still lock licensing specifically to the console SKU, if they want, so that it isn't playable on PC.
Eh......don't know how well a $1k "traditional console" is going to do. Steam integration is exciting, but I don't really see this as much competition for Sony at that price. Now if Sony also comes in at $1k then the whole damn console industry might as well implode
I highly doubt it is going to be $1k.It's going to be a niche product for the hardcore Xbox fans that's about it. It will most likely push more people towards PS if anything. Last I remember Xbox still had a ton of people on Xbox one so those users will most likely move over to PS.
It's not ARM!
There wouldn't be enough of a reason to buy this if you are just going to run the same games. Some people might want to buy this but most won't. People usually upgrade only when there is a game they want on it.The image quality on a lot of games coming out on base PS5/Series X is fucking atrocious. New consoles are needed ASAP.
It will HAVE to be sold at a profit.I highly doubt it is going to be $1k.
There has to be one, though? How would steam/EGS even work otherwise? There is no console SKU, that's the tricky part.
Same as it works on the upcoming handheld. There has to be one, though? How would steam/EGS even work otherwise?
They already spent ~$75B at this point. They are officially in sunken cost fallacy. They figure they can make the money back faster if they still have a platform and sub service to bank off of. They don't really have a choice at this pointWhy the fuck are they bothering? Xbox hardware has as much credibility as Atari hardware in 2025
If so, I hope Microsoft expands the compatibility of the old Xbox library to any PC, not just the "Xbox" console they produce. If it can run PC games yet also has hardware that makes it backwards compatible with the old Xbox library then it will be a truly unique product garnering a lot of attention.
What if they integrated a tiny Series S into the motherboard PS3 Fat style to provide full backwards compatibility? If it can run PC games yet also has hardware that makes it backwards compatible with the old Xbox library then it be a truly unique product garnering a lot of attention.
They won't be able to, it's not a real console, it's not a real PC, I don't see a way out. They'll have to explain to me the benefit of not just having a PC like I currently do.
If it's like the handheld, then yes. But we can rest assured that they would have figured some way to still have GTA 6 on it right? Lol. I hope they know what they are doing. I sure don't!Same as it works on the upcoming handheld.
The handheld won't support GTA6 either.
Edit: I should add that there is a chance they can get it through as BC but Rockstar may not be happy given it's a PC and they would rather PC gamers buy the PC release.
What if they integrated a tiny Series S into the motherboard PS3 Fat style to provide full backwards compatibility?![]()

They can't do that legally, that would break the licensing agreement. That is why there is a separate "Play Anywhere" category of Xbox games. If so, I hope Microsoft expands the compatibility of the old Xbox library to any PC, not just the "Xbox" console they produce.
That works. But it would cost them as much as it cost Sony for PS3 launch edition. But it certainly is a physical possibility. What if they integrated a tiny Series S into the motherboard PS3 Fat style to provide full backwards compatibility?![]()

$1000 is stillborn, sure, maybe they won't subsidize it but the negative impact will weaken the brand.100% can see a $1000+ console coming
The brand is on life support as is and they are trying anything to survive$1000 is stillborn, sure, maybe they won't subsidize it but the negative impact will weaken the brand.
the opportunity cost is bad I wish them luck, they're going to need it.
Stronger than pro but weaker than 6, so this is planned to release before ps6?Huh, so it is going to be direct alternative storefront access, then?
Yeah, $1K is gonna be a lock, especially if it is delivering anything between PS5 Pro and (hypothetical, since we don't know performance specs yet) PS6 levels.
That would be stillborn. No it has to be a juiced version of a PS6 in broad terms to have a purpose, hence I don't see it releasing much outside the PS6 window because it will require the same tech base. To the best of my knowledge the PS6 is kind of on the leading edge timewise of that yes?Stronger than pro but weaker than 6, so this is planned to release before ps6?
god knows how much I like the Xbox but honestly Microsoft should skip two gens this is the way to go but that's not my decision it's theirs and they've already decided to go All in.The brand is on life support as is and they are trying anything to survive
They can't keep bringing close to the same product to market as Playstation and in the same time frame and hope to get anywhere
Trust me I don't think this is the way but I also think its better for them to at least attempt something different
$1000 for a consoleOh shit, I might have a spare $1000 to burn next year.![]()
Not a console though if it's a pc, 1,000 for a decent pc$1000 for a console
