For the Pro I would have preferred a Quality mode at 40fps. Then they could have done a Performance mode at 60fps and a high performance mode at 80fps. Quality mode should be more biased towards visual settings and resolution rather than frame rate imo.

Pro starting to flex its muscles, that's good

40fps is for beggars

Started playing Alan Wake 2 last night. Set it on the balanced mode at 40fps.

While I do love 60fps and higher, I will admit 40fps suits the nature of AW2 really well. Seems to be a nice sweet spot. I was skeptical about 40fps but this sold me on it. I did notice shimmering with PSSR turned on. I turned PSSR off just to see how things looked. I prefer the overall look with PSSR enabled to be honest.

That is the reason 60fps is better, you can disable motion blur and remove the most artifacts from PSSR. Removing motion blur at 40fps…. Well good luck

In theory shouldn't Remedy be able to fix all of this (artifacts) if they put more effort into utilizing PSSR?

I really think they could push more with the Northlight engine, they've been using it for over 15 years now I think since I thought it debuted with Quantum Break.

But Sony is on record as saying there is a better solution coming. Would you sink resources in to fixing something that will be replaced within 12 months or so? Or just wait until PSSR.x arrives? Assuming they want to fix it at all of course.

the game is pro enhanced with PSSR,

all the shots are taken from the balanced (60fps) mode.

XSS vs XSX just for a comparison's sake

Not sure how many people care about Hellblade 2, but anyways, here are the Pro enhancements it will receive. You can also choose between PSSR and TSR.

Idc what the haters say, I'm excited to play it. Loved the first game and I'm certain I'll enjoy this one as well.

Was surprised to see this had been installed while I was sleeping.

2 more days.❤️

Fam, a bit of help here:

PS5 Pro owner here and I just noticed something weird while switching games on the consoles XMB.

Basically if you see the video below, I'm getting some sort of ghosting / warping on the background image while switching game tabs on the consoles main menu.

If you play close attention, you can see Zacks or Clouds head sliding/warping a little bit until it gets in the images right position.

It's more noticeble on the TV.

Is this the usual transition effect between tabs and I never actually noticed before? Is this normal?

Kinda like it is slowly zooming in?

It was like that from the beginning (on PS5 too). Its just depends on the pictures and tv setting (cololors, saturation, brightness etc) how noticable is.

More like sliding in I would say. There's a clear transition effect from right to left.

Was it? Damn, I didn't noticed at all until now. Thanks for the alert.

I perceive it as zooming, but yeah, the base PS5 does it too. I noticed it on the Demon's Souls remake boot screen at launch. Good luck not seeing it anymore lol

I hate myself for it, but I managed to snag a Pro with a disc drive and stand for $600. What should I expect gaf?

You should expect lots of people saying you shouldn't have bought it, while you're having fun playing. :messenger_beaming:

There are some games that had bad decisions on how to use PSSR, but most just run better. Games with dynamic resolution will look prettier.
You may have fun switching graphics modes in some games if you're into it.
Congrats on the deal and enjoy it!

I mean Demons souls and Astrobot are great but they really don't look that much different on Pro vs base PS5

I guess that one year after release FF7 Rebirth remains the biggest upgrade on the console…

Two words:
Mon
Tage!

Old references aside Space Marine 2 looks so much better on the Pro. 65l is enough to see the difference. Also play helldivers. It's not a good upgrade but we need the divers on the front lines, man.

I'm on a 65 inch TCL right now. Next year I plan to upgrade to a 77 or 83 inch OLED. We're moving in February/March and don't feel like buying a new TV months ahead of the move.
I'm gaming on an LG OLED77G26LA with the PRO and I can easily see the difference over the previous PS5.

Do TCL make good TVs? I'm aware that Amazon's Fire TV is basically just a branded TCL unit.

I've had a 43" LG TV for over 11 years now. Still going strong, but I'm considering upgrading to a 50" screen (which would also get me HDR), and TCL often sells panels at that size quite cheap.

(mind, I'm also thinking that my LG works fine, so ain't-broke-don't-fix)

Why do you recommend shit games?

Play Demon's Souls or Astro Bot.
A) They're not shit games, in the real world there are games between "OMG GOAT" and "wouldn't wipe my arse with it".
B) They are technical showcases that demonstrate the benefits of the system.

They're excellent value for money.

Yeah, absolute shite. FF7's versatility mode looks so ass I switched back to quality mode.

What are the supposed Pro enhancements for Forza Horizon 5 pls?
It's basically the Series X/PS5 quality mode running at 60fps. It does have it's own quality mode with limited ray tracing, but unless you are interested in taking screen shots, it's a bit pointless imho.

Ultimately, it looks superb on Pro.

Best bang for the buck out there, specially if you're looking for a mini-LED panel. If you're looking for an OLED then you're fucked because you either cope with the stupid stupidity filter that Samsung implemented in their last two flagship models or you pay dearly with other brands.

TCLs are fantastic for their price range, as stated above.

My last two TVs have been TCLs (R635 and then the QM7, both 55"). I moved the older one into my living room and my new one is in my gaming/work from home room.

Fantastic colors and HDR on the QM7 especially.
