Is this the first time they've had to delay? I've seen interviews with them saying it's never happened somehow.
I'm guessing they are having to tread very carefully and legitimately couldn't come up with an angle that was funny and wouldn't land them in extreme hot water or alienate their new "lol Trump fat and small penis" audience.

We don't know this yet.

How many times does this need to be pointed out to you:

I made it extra big, just for you
That doesn't really say anything man. Some boomer conservative is saying he's become left leaning because he supports gay rights. Ok?

Looking at their history and the money they've recently acquired, I doubt they give a shit about who it offended. They probably delayed it because they didn't like how it turned out.

Yeah, this was my gut reaction. It's unprecedented for South Park if it's the case.

So.. I never really looked into the details of the shooting, so I just asked grok about the specifics. Correct me if I am wrong,
but this dude really drove ~260 miles to a university he has never been to to do the shooting? I always assumed he was familiar with the surroundings? How was he so confident in driving there and knowing he would have an opportunity? Did he scout the place and the area at some point? Driving 260 miles to take on such an endeavour feels rather spontaneous to me, unless you are extremely confident in what you are doing. Even if he scouted it beforehand, did he know where exactly Charlie would have these discussions? When he saw the roof as a possible shooting spot, did he just assume that security would not spot this weak point? Someone climbing a roof at such an event is super suspicious. From what I see there were about 3000 people attending this event (is that true?). He did stay unspotted, but how the hell did he assume no one would spot him. It just feels bonkers to me because I thought until now that he actually went to this university and for that reason had a good grasp how to get to Charlie.

Yeah, the problem here is that you can take snippets of posts, of which I'm sure there are THOUSANDS, and craft whatever narrative you want. So other than getting access to it and reading them all yourself, 'they' have successfully destroyed any trust in 'the system' and journalists have zero integrity. Internet personalities have NEGATIVE integrity since they are just shilling for clicks for $$$.
This is why media literacy is important.

Other than figuring out how to get on the roof unspotted, it doesn't seem that farfetched to me. He was never going to have massive security around him. This is a guy who let people who absolutely hated him get in speaking range of him. The last thing they were probably worried about was a coward with a long range sniper rifle.

I'm really confused. There A LOT of talks how Kirk was a nazi, racist and so on. I saw some of his vids earlier, they were maybe harsh, but there was nothing nazi/racist. Today I tried to ask questions on Reddit to people who call him like that and.. get a portion of hate without examples. There were several quotes that were labeled as racist, but I searched for context and in reality they were anti-DEI. I saw some people here mentioned his hateful speeches - can these people point me in the direction where they think he was a racist or something like that?
Even in the video above from F falconhoof the top comment is about "he was despised black folks". But he had black and gay friends (and on Reddit everyone says "it means nothing"). So, I'm struggled to understand where this narrative comes from.
Right now it looks like leftists are in some echo chamber, which is really sad - I was mostly pro-left, but the state of world politics right now is so fucked that it's hard to feel sympathetic towards anyone.

Those people have no idea what they are talking about. They just repeat stuff they saw in some posts and tik tok videos like true NPCs.

Zero verification or anything like that...

It is very much cult-like behavior. People will willingly discard plain evidence in favor of promoting and advancing the goals of the cult.

It's simple, if they can label Kirk's views as fascist and nazi, they can label all Christian's as fascist and nazi, and when they can get the media to make the jump to combatting Christianity, it makes it easier for the crazy far left to attack ANYONE that is a Christian.

I think that's the long game.

People get fired for expressing hatred all the time. That's not what cancel culture is. Cancel culture is disproportionate action taken against someone after a drastic shift of the Overton Window into uncharted and deranged territory, e.g., finding an old joke Tweet from ten years ago that was fine to express at the time, or going on a witch hunt because a guy went on a date that didn't work out, and destroying someone's life over it.

Publicly celebrating murder and political assassination of an American public figure is not part of the Overton Window. Employers are entirely within reason to fire their people over acting like a psychopath in public.

Thank you. Perhaps a clear explanation of the distinctions between the two will help prevent the continued employment of this already tired and disingenuous argument.

Twice I think. I would love to read what they had in the original script for this episode. It could be just bad luck with the timing, but my gut tells me there's something more to it.

I tried very hard to find the so called terrible stuff of his, but it was controversial at best when clipped. If you play the full videos, it's easy to understand his reasoning even if you don't agree with it. Charlie was basically an energetic pastor. Anyone still using ists or phobes in 2025 needs to be put in a looney bin

I didn't know the guy because I cut down on my news intake but by coincidence I found and watched this interview with Bill Maher
He seemed like a real nice guy and while I don't agree with some of his views I believe we can always learn something from someone's opinion different than ours.
I feel for his family.
EDIT: Fuck Dana Carvey 😆

The last assassin they sent magically knew exactly which vantage point with a clear shot to President Trump would be left unguarded and unobserved by a full Secret Service detail, and I imagine getting a shot at Charlie Kirk was pretty easy in comparison.

Someone will have reconned the route to the roof at least imo, but whether it was the shooter or if this was done for him, who can say? He was spotted on the roof, but idk how long there was between that and the shot. The Trump shooter was also spotted before the shot, and Trump was allowed to remain on stage for 2-3 minutes until the shot had been taken.

I don't know enough about Charlie Kirk, but given that they used the word Nazi inappropriately for so long. I'm gonna assume they don't have anything and actually don't know what a Nazi is.

That's his mother saying that, not some random boomer.

But I'm sure you knew him better.
Sadly we live in a time where If u say it's ok to be trans, people will say you've been infected with the woke mind virus or you've been indoctrinated by radical leftists etc. That's the problem with painting people with a broad brush

Broad brush? This is a mother talking about her son. That's not broad, that's about as specific as you can get.

I dont think people care much at all if someone is trans. The biggest issue that makes it a process orientated issue is sports leagues and track competitions. I dont think most people care if a gay guy or lesbian walks down the street either. Many people probably have gay or lesbian or bi friends or fam theyve known forever. I dont think everyone hates them. They just dont want to hear it every single day at home, work or media.

People have their owns lives to live, own bills to pay, own fam and work to worry about. 99% of people dont care about wasting time on someone else's preference for gender/sex stuff. Do what you want.

Problem is some reason people in mainstream media and their social media have to tell the world about it like it's waving a cure for cancer in everyone's face. This goes for the entire LBGBT group. Ya, we get it for the millionth time.

And that doesn't even include parenting concerns like jamming it into grade school kids when they should be focusing on math, writing and reading skills. A kid in grade 2 who cares more about watching cartoons and goofing around on a tablet playing flash games shouldnt be nailed with gender or sexuality issues year round. And parents should be mad because any time you hear about this in schools, the parents are pissed because they arent even told it's being taught until someone spills the beans a teacher is doing this at kids.

Political hot topics are a bad idea for forcing it through because it pisses people off.

But it doesn't even have to be that extreme to aggravate people. If every TV channel, school, work or website were forced to hear about my shitty Toronto Maple Leafs who lose in round 1 almost every year, you'd probably pissed too because you might not like the team or hockey to begin with. And you'd think it's a waste of time when there's other things that can be talked about. If I like the Leafs, who gives a shit. That's a personal decision the whole world doesn't have to see every day. If anyone is that interested, that's fine. Watch a sports channel or check ESPN or TSN.

No one cares if an adult wants to do some crazy stuff. What people care about is the targeting of kids. Pure pedophilia.

Yup.

And creatives, teachers, political nutjobs and hardcore LBGTQ promoters always love doing. Promote to kids since they are young, impressionable and a creep can influence them all day at school or on TV.

A creepy guy standing behind a counter selling cellphone plans cant do that. But a crazy pervy teacher or political activist can in hopes no parents find out what their kids are doing.

Pure creep zone territory. And they wonder why normal folks and parents get pissed.

Disney's ABC is taking Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show off the air indefinitely amid a controversy over his recent comments about Charlie Kirk's suspected killer. The Federal Communications Commission's Trump-aligned chairman on Wednesday threatened to "take action" against Disney and ABC over Jimmy Kimmel's recent comments about Charlie Kirk's suspected killer.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely," an ABC spokesperson said, declining to share any further details.

A representative for Kimmel did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

You're going to have to learn to live with the fact that fascist is a word in the English language. I had this book in 2007.

It is written by a Christian pastor about a certain type of extremely politically motivated fascistic Christian world view that is unique, and no it does not apply to all Christians. This is their own words stating they want to live as a theocratic state. I get the feeling you don't have the faintest clue what fascist even refers to. You just know its bad and hate how it sounds.

Well the word is accurate. Its a free country, and people can say it if they want, unless we're now banning speech which is of course incredibly authoritarian and fascistic.

The comment that caused this wasn't even directly about Kirk. It wasn't about him so its a bit dumb to cancel the show.

It's still an unneeded and tasteless accusation trying to claim Robinson was MAGA to convince the masses it was right wing on right wing murder. And Kimmel is a big time right wing/Trump hater, so of course he'd try to paint a weird narrative like that.

Similarly, if Joe Biden got killed it would be pretty stupid to straddle the fence telling everyone the killer was liberal.

That's a reasonable concern, but the problemn is these fears are often times rooted in transphobia. Just like in the 1950s we had politicians accusing the gays of seducing and recruiting kids, before that in the 19th century it was the immigrants grooming kids, etc. There is a long history in the US of linking a marginalized group to grooming kids to generate fear in order to justify discrimination/exclusion, and this seems no different to me because there is no evidence that shows trans people are associated with higher rates of sexual offenses against children.

As always, I'm open to new data

I Just want to express thanks for the moderation and existence of this forum. I appreciate that it is virtually non-politics (unless something monumental happens and a thread needs to exist for it). It's hard to find things like this online. I'm grateful we've (I mean that as all of us, everybody) got this place.

Jimmy Fallon Drinking GIF

Jimmy Fallon now.
Lol.

I don't watch any of these guys. But I remember when Colbert got booted a streamer said kimmel will be next. He predicted Fallon has best chance to survive as he's the most likeable and least politically cringey out of them all.

Looks like he was right!

There was about a day were all we knew about the inscriptions was that the Tran reference was possibly just "TNR" manufacturer branding and the killer grew up conservative. Kimmel was trying to say the killer was maga. Given the updated information they should've updated the monologue.

I went to the purple place to see their reactions about the Kimmel drama, and of course, not even an ounce of self awareness

Those people are lost. And I dont know how to fix them.

Some truly dark times ahead.
