Well i don't have a "social circle", i just speak to people, all people, and make friends with anyone, no matter what they do or who they hang out with.
I was in Alicante for almost 3 weeks and I met many Locals (it was their holidays so they all were at the beach) and met a shit ton of expats from all over the world, and the majority of the time someone would start by making a tongue-in-cheek joke at the ridiculous nature of things, and the conversation would move that way towards wokeism and/or DEI.

Cost of living is an issue globally, but i promise after the two sentences of conversation that subject brought the topic and life moved on. I wouldn't say that is all Europeans could talk about but again, I clearly don't move in your social circle, Just random drinks with random people.

I've spent the last 25 years going to Alicante multiple times per year as my partner is from there, her family live there, friends etc.
I know the city and region inside out.
I've never had a single conversation about wokeism, albeit I mostly know and have met locals.
Maybe next time I'll go to the bar and the waiter will say "Buenas tardes, I can't believe Naughty Dog aren't going with a busty blonde for Intergalactic, wokeism, eh" 😆

I mean, I guess it works, there are still people pretending that AC:S was a huge success even though we've literally not seen a single sales figure from that game since it's release. Call me when it's not a Chinese fake, Christopher Dring gushing over 40% less physical sales in the UK, or some small town in Japan excited because the game takes place there. Show me some actual, tangible numbers, not all this smoke and mirrors bullshit. The fact is, games that are great successes don't need this type of reporting. Maybe it will be successful, maybe it won't, but the fact that the usual suspects are starting the sales discussion with this same type of shit doesn't bode well for it.

Netflix is bringing a LOT of Korean and Japanese content these days. K-Dramas in particular have gotten massive over the last 5 years.

There were A LOT of paid people on x.com trying to hype up the release of GoY. Not saying everyone who did it were paid, but astroturfing is like marketing 101. Most companies do it as it's very effective insted of just using official channels. They try to steer the online discourse to create hype for the release.

We see this also with politics and other products than games. There are also sophisticated tools I've seen that can alert a company when they are talked about online.
 
I love how Nintendo can slap together a game bundle with 2 games one of which was in its last bundle, charge a premium, put it out in a few days, and sell 1/3 of Ghosts of Yotei.

What the fuck are you talking about? I flat out said people accused the game of woke because of the female they picked. Was the root of the accusations based in sexism? Probably yes, but it was made way worse knowing they picked an outspoken american-asian who is lgbt and antifa. All of those identifiers go together. You'd have a gacha on me if Jin's actor fit all of those same criteria minus gender. Nowhere in my post did I separate being form america and being lgbt antifa being the cause for the accusations.
