If it wasn't for the sales discussion we wouldn't be hearing about the game.Idk if the sales are better or worse than Tsushima. But one thing is certain, the general perception of this game is worse than Tsushima's.

Thought about this. People just want to validate it.

Mine do, even some that are not even on console were asking about it.I only hear about the game on GAF. None of my gamer friends or work buddies have talked about Yotei.
Is the active ps plus players the same on those two dates? Like what does this mean in actual numbers not percentages.

Numbers be damned. Less than 5% of your player base engaging with a tentpole first party release is not good.
This is a great point.
Only 4% of your entire active userbase is playing your game....thats pretty bad. I bet Nintendo's is much more than that.
Used copies? During the launch week? How many it will be, something like 0,01%?

Plus people forget that Circana has no authority to release any numbers, even monthly charts are not detailed and people mostly extrapolate. So this is Mat's way to tiptoe NDA, hence the usage of percentages and 'players'. Sales are fine. This is the dumbest sales logic, I've seen on GAF this year. Yall gotta get better than this. And you two both know better than to say something as dumb as this. You know darn well that a game's budget and profit margin have literally NOTHING to do with the percentage of the total user base plays the game.
Just stop it!
Oh, I see, the 3.5 million sounds too good, lets change that to only 4%, that's better, that sounds patheticThis is a great point.

Account sharing should be factored into it aswell. Almost everyone I know account shares.
Players is a bullshit metric.

Im saying it as more of , its a shame that more of Sonys userbase doesnt show up for their biggest game of the year. But, when you look at the belowThis is the dumbest sales logic, I've seen on GAF this year. Yall gotta get better than this. And you two both know better than to say something as dumb as this. So, using the numbers of players are good now?
What next? MAU?
Now that Xbox is dead I can whatever number to fit my narrative
Playing the game, she isn't bad looking at all. In real life, that's another story.hurt the game badly by picking an ugly female MC
Hades 2 is awesome on Switch 2 and it isn't on the PS5 or XSX. It is easily goty contender with 94 metacritic. I suspect games like Yakuza 0 and Split Fiction would be great on the console as well. I suspect FFTactics or Silksong would be great too on Switch 2. Why do you think Switch 2 has useless 3rd party? Switch 1 3rd party was great.A comparison to Nintendo first party is actually unfair, because the Switch is useless for third party so the install base is far more likely to be there solely for Mario and Mario Kart. Engagement is a given.
There are tens of millions that will own a PS5 for the best and most convenient way of accessing third party games and have zero interest in anything that isn't FIFA or CoD. That will naturally drive down the percentage of users buying first party.
Not exactly. There are households with family members who share games but it certainly is'nt like a game on a subscription, so it's not as far off in comparison to sales as that.Players is buyers in the case of Yōtei.
Sure. There are a few great titles here and there. And developers will continue to support it.Hades 2 is awesome on Switch 2 and it isn't on the PS5 or XSX. How so? The OT is normally on Gafs top page with people playing/discussing the game.If it wasn't for the sales discussion we wouldn't be hearing about the game.
It's the % of people who played PS4/5 in the US that week.If it's not a Live Service game, the "players" metric is always BS.
Totally pathetic. Nobody in the industry cares about the percentage of players total relative to the amount of units of console sold for their game is. It's a total useless stat. If a console sells 120 million units and sells 5 million copies in the first month for $70, that's only 4.2% of the userbase. But that's also $350 Million in revenue in one month!!!
It's the second statement, all the people who played Playstation that week.how many "active PS users that week" were there though? To me, that doesn't read as "4% of all PS owners" it reads as "of all the people that played their PS systems that week, 4% played GoY". Those statements are not the same thing at all.
Do we know which he meant or are we going by the exact wording of what he said?
If the context is "4% of ps players that week played it" that is not the same as converting the number of systems sold and making an assumption on what it sold. This tells us nothing at all.
So is the Final Fantasy Tactics OT. Doesn't mean anything. How so? The OT is normally on Gafs top page with people playing/discussing the game.
Take a small guess with respect to the tribalism that some have.wtf is up with people wanting it to fail?
They normally share them at earning reports or at significant milestones.Wheres the OFFICIAL numbers at Playstation
yeah it does, It means people are hearing and talking about the game outside of sales discussions. So is the Final Fantasy Tactics OT. Doesn't mean anything.
Their favorite brand is in the gutterPretty damn impressive i would say.
Last gen when GoT launched, the PS4 install base was around 100 million. So 4.4% of that would be 4.4 million. We know the game sold 2.5 million in the first 3 days. So 4.4 million in the first two weeks makes sense.
PS5 is around 85 million iirc, and a lot of PS users are still on PS4. The last figures i saw were around 125 million monthly users. That would put it around 5 million after two weeks. not bad at all.
i dont know why so many people want this game to fail. it isnt woke. shes not a lesbian. there is no black lead in the game. they fired the asshole who made fun of charlie kirk's death. the game is better than the original. wtf is up with people wanting it to fail?
I only hear about the game on GAF. None of my gamer friends or work buddies have talked about Yotei.
Not at all. OTs are for a small but dedicated enthusiast bubble. Outside of that the discussion is about sales.yeah it does, It means people are hearing and talking about the game outside of sales discussions.
yeah I am sorry but do you believe that the 300m they spent on Spider-Man 2 was for licensing fees?? The game is literally a collaboration between Marvel and Sony who btw owns Spider-Man movie rights do you actually believe they took a 100m licensing fee?? This makes sense to you or you are snorting copium?Insomniac games is three times the size of Sucker Punch, and on top of that Sucker Punch doesn't need to pay any sort of licensing fee for the setting or characters. Insomniac is also located in California and not Washington, where developer salaries and associated costs are higher. GoY being less than a third (or even less) to develop is no great shocker.
He didn't use MaU or 'bought'.The info mat gave:
4.4 of psn MaU bought GoY.
4.4 of psn MaU bought GoT
He didn't say 4.4% of PS5 owners worldwide played it.3500000 of players the first weeks approximately is bad now? PS5 sold around 80200000 console, 4,4% is that.
But I'm also talking about the broader internet discussion. GoY came and went like Death Stranding 2, which isn't surprising for safe, unspectacular sequels.
Number of players = winning, of course. But if Ghost of Yotei is outselling the original game, why doesn't Mat or anyone else just say so in plain English?
Edit > Find/Replace "." with ",".PS5 Active player base or PSN active player base? This number is REALLY different. I supposed he talk PS5 Active Player base wich is close to 3.500 000. (80 000 000M of PS5)
If we talk PSN active user base, wich is like 120M each month, then Ghost of Yotei player are close to 5.412.000 .
Fuck Yotei, Megabonk, a game developed by one dude hitting number 2 on steam is pretty sick.
If the game didn't fail, the "boycott" did. And that's not an acceptable result for those who spent time and energy on the topic. The whole point of a boycott that goes beyond a personal decision is to prevent a certain product/idea from succeeding, in order to send a message. So until sales numbers are actually out, why give up?the game is better than the original. wtf is up with people wanting it to fail?
