Remedy issues 'profit warning' for FBC: Firebreak: 'Despite improved sales metrics after the update, sales have not reached Remedy’s internal targets'

Be a studio known for highly rated single player games.

Be a studio also known for said single player games barely being profitable, despite how highly regarded they are.

See every other single player focused studio shift their focus to multiplayer games and fail spectacularly.

Decide to focus on multiplayer games.

Fail spectacularly.

Fail to reach profitability.

Be shocked.

Remedy is a studio that doesn't really need to exist. Since Max Payne 2, they have not made 1 good game in my opinion. Their writers are so poor that it just drags down the game. Their gameplay is not exactly engaging. Hopefully they can close down soon and the programmers can go to better studios.
Honestly, they've just been victims subjected to some ill gotten advice from specific journos and consultants alike who wanted to influence their output. Needless to say, that advice didn't resonate with many people.

I thought the game was ok and had some really cool mechanics. The netcode did not feel good though, the art style for characters was a turnoff, and there was essentially no narrative.

If this was a low budget indie game with low expectations it might have found an audience. This is also a game that might have benefitted from a real early access period to help shape it.

It's just really hard to see why someone would play this over the many other co op shooters like Zombies, Left 4 dead, Destiny, Borderlands, or the many free to play variations out there.

Good, let this be a lesson to stick to what is good. I'm all for innovation and trying new things but nobody, NOBODY asked for a multiplayer live service game in the control universe.

That carrot dangling over every studio's head called mtx will do that.

I still don't understand what they were thinking. Were there any Remedy fans out there asking for that game?
No. People that liked Control wanted Control 2. I don't think they were thinking at all. The levels aren't even handcrafted to take different shapes and layouts like the Oldest House would have done.

Its just L after L. Control looked promising with the physics, graphics and gameplay. Then we played it and it was just repetitive af. The story was trash and not worth paying attention to… Then we have quantam break, another big L. Then we have Alan Wake 2. That just put me to sleep. I got it for free due to a nvidia gpu purchase and i just couldn't finish it. So boring and the story was another blow hard story from their studio.

Then Firebreak? Seriously? They keep trying to make a remedy universe but the characters are just boring and so are their games. If not for the Nvidia deals they got, the epic deals, etc, these guys could have already been closed down. Frankly, nothing of value would be lost.

You would think there's enough objective evidence at this point that says "unless you're experienced in this space, stay the fuck away." Hell, even studios that are experienced in the field of multiplayer games are struggling.
All the suits in the game industry are stupid enough to believe they will catch lighting in a bottle with their run of the mill multiplayer gaas trash, look at Sony no less, dumbasses had PS3 carried by quality SP games and established that course of action during the PS4 gen, suddenly they want to burn dollar after dollar chasing the GAAS trend, when they had their win with Helldivers 2 and that's it, no way they'll get another success like that one, but idiots keep trying, completely clueless

It was a bad idea. I played the beta and found it to be hot garbage. There wasn't anything shiwn in the mega patch to change it much. The game may be cold garbage now.
