Remedy issues 'profit warning' for FBC: Firebreak: 'Despite improved sales metrics after the update, sales have not reached Remedy’s internal targets'

Be a studio known for highly rated single player games.

Be a studio also known for said single player games barely being profitable, despite how highly regarded they are.

See every other single player focused studio shift their focus to multiplayer games and fail spectacularly.

Decide to focus on multiplayer games.

Fail spectacularly.

Fail to reach profitability.

Be shocked.

Remedy is a studio that doesn't really need to exist. Since Max Payne 2, they have not made 1 good game in my opinion. Their writers are so poor that it just drags down the game. Their gameplay is not exactly engaging. Hopefully they can close down soon and the programmers can go to better studios.
Honestly, they've just been victims subjected to some ill gotten advice from specific journos and consultants alike who wanted to influence their output. Needless to say, that advice didn't resonate with many people.

I thought the game was ok and had some really cool mechanics. The netcode did not feel good though, the art style for characters was a turnoff, and there was essentially no narrative.

If this was a low budget indie game with low expectations it might have found an audience. This is also a game that might have benefitted from a real early access period to help shape it.

It's just really hard to see why someone would play this over the many other co op shooters like Zombies, Left 4 dead, Destiny, Borderlands, or the many free to play variations out there.

Good, let this be a lesson to stick to what is good. I'm all for innovation and trying new things but nobody, NOBODY asked for a multiplayer live service game in the control universe.
