For me personally (this is my personal opinion and does not reflect on GAF as a whole, how others around the globe feels, how much profit Sony is making or even the price of eggs in China) the ONLY game I have finished and thought wow I enjoyed that and glad I had a PS5 to play it was Astrobot

I think it's the word "WORST" in the title that is driving fanboys mad.

I have had more disappointments this generation than others. Sony needs to finish strong and Xbox needs to get it together. For better or worse, Nintendo is just going to Nintendo their way through it all. The problem for PlayStation 5, even if Sony has one or two more hits this generation, it's still going to end up weak over all.

I mean we are approaching the 5 year mark into this gen and at least according to Wiki this is the list of PS5 only games and some on here aren't out yet obviously unless I am missing some

Either way I think it's hard to say it's the worst when it hasn't even finished yet. In my opinion the PS3 gen has to be the worst because it almost ruined them and only really got good towards the end. Th ps3 still had a ton of really great exclusives though to a lot of people. me included. Sales do not make a console great or games any less fun.

on this. I had a lot more fun with the PlayStation 3 than I did with the PlayStation 5. Like, a metric-ton more fun. A few more years can't change that since I no longer even own a PlayStation 5, and nothing Sony does in the next few years is going to make me buy one.

We gotten some pretty cool hardware this Gen but I've had little interest in games overall this Gen. Could be just the timing of things in my personal life. But there really hasn't been anything that screamed "hell yeah" outside of the Demons Souls remake. I just picked up Ghost of Yotei.

Not saying that the PS3 wasn't great or didn't have fun games. All of the consoles have fun games. But in my mind everything else being basically equal, the PS3 is the worst because it was mismanaged and almost ended PlayStation.
We're all just stating opinions here anyway. This thread isn't really about objectivity.

For me, it was definitely a more fun generation compared to the current one. They tried new things like Sixaxis/Move controllers, Eye camera, light gun, etc.

Because all the other ones were still better? Just because Xbox shit the bed doesn't mean Sony did something great. I think a lot of people are judging this based on Sony's accomplishments and fails within the context of the generation. Xbox games on PS5 is more of an Xbox fail rather than a Sony accomplishment. If Xbox's game output wasn't so miserable this year, Sony's terrible foray into live service slop would have been much more impactful.
For what it's worth my vote is PS3 too. At least I bothered to buy a PS5. PS3 is the only Sony console I've never owned.

I think it's ps1. Those games have aged like milk. Literally nobody would choose to play only ps1 games vs only ps5 games today if they had a choice. (This is hyperbole, no need to @ me and tell me you're one of the dozens who would say this)

Early 3d in general hasn't aged well. But at the time, the ps1 was awesome. Games were cheap and plentiful (PS2 even more so). Also wouldn't cheese be considered aged milk?

It's the worst gen for me as I literally don't turn it on and have 0 incentive to.
I missed the launch hype of ghost of yotei due to e fraudulent eBay transaction and reading genuine feedback on the game is that it is just a typical safe Sony sequel.
I remember how sequels used to be. Gears to gears 2. Uncharted to uncharted 2.
These games are so safe they don't push the boat out.
I legit can't even remember when I last turned my ps5 on before I got my pro and death stranding 2 and I've currently put that down for the last couple of months. Was it spider man 2?
I guess it's not been on since spider man 2 and that game was an overall disappointment for it's story imo. Got big hopes for Wolverine. I'm hoping insomniac has listened to the negative feedback around Spidey.

Looking in from the outside, this PlayStation generation looks like all the others. A great piece of hardware that has great software. Both exclusive and from third parties. And of course excellent backwards compatibility and the usual account system.
I recently got rid of my Xbox Series X when the Switch 2 came out. And even though the setup and transfer process was pretty easy. It's still not as hassle free as simply purchasing as console, and signing into an account.
Sony's ecosystem seems pretty robust and consistent to my eyes.

In 2011, I hated Killzone 3, Motorstorm Apocalypse, and Socom 4 along with 1/3 of the games you have on your launch aligned PS3 list.
I may have fewer 1st party titles to play on the PS5 but the games are longer, more polished, and more performant. I also have access to massive 3rd party support (something I didn't have access to on PS3 and had to rely on shit releases like Heavenly Sword).
I will say that while the PS3 was my least favorite Sony gen, there were some absolute hidden gems in Puppeteer, Folklore, Warhawk (I'd even include Starhawk), and Tokyo Jungle that we haven't seen manifest on PS5. If Sony can deliver 3 or 4 surprises like those, the PS5 will end the generation in my top 3. If not, PS5 will establish permanence in the second to last spot.

There's a reason Sony abandoned series like MotorStorm, Resistance, and SOCOM: those games sold poorly, and none of them came even close to half the success Sony achieved with its major PS4 titles (Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, etc.).
During the PS3 era and the early PS4 years, Sony went through a spiral of weak and forgettable games — titles no one even remembers exist today. You only brought them up because you needed to pad your list. Which really makes me believe some people care more about numbers than about actual quality.
Games like Killzone Shadow Fall, The Order, and Driveclub are worth absolutely nothing. Quoting the PS4's larger library while relying on those trash games is embarrassing. Give me cross-gen titles like Gran Turismo 7 or GOW: Ragnarok any day — I'd take them a thousand times over the garbage you mentioned.

PS4 came out in 2013 so the 4 year cutoff is 2017 not 2018, so you can't count stuff like Spider-Man and God of War 2018.

Like I previously stated the PS5 looks like any other PlayStation generation to me, and has sold very well. People always tend to look back on previous generations and suggest they were better etc etc.
I am so glad Nintendo have taken the Sony route by giving the new Switch simply a numeral based name. And gone with the same operating system albeit slicker. And kept the same e-Shop, backwards compatibility and online system etc.. Just seems better than radically redesigning every thing .
Sony have some great IP's that really shine on the PS5.. And have even made a Pro console for the core gamers. Which is a massive investment considering how niche these consoles are. Hell… they have even stuck with VR and supported it.
Not sure what some are complaining about here to be honest.
