This Jez guy has no insider or even basic industry credibility after he became a laughing stock from this comment

Sony's experiment on steam has been an abject failure. Personally I love it, i don't have to spend any extra money to get my playstation fix, but as a continuing business proposition, It could not be any more retarded. 2%, lol

Jez may not claim to be a journalist but his relentless dedication to chasing down the truth proves his true journalistic credentials. I find his humility utterly remarkable in this day and age. How many people in his position admit to their flaws and pledge to do better?
I can't even begin to fathom how to respond to this.

Even when they could get the grapes they didn't really want them all that much - I mean that is one of the main reasons people give for them stopping the porting.

So an extra 653 million in a fiscal year for PC ports is an abject failure?

Am I reading that chart wrong?

It is closer to 4% of total game sales which includes all third party sales as well, whereas the PC portion is only first party. Either way, 4% is not nothing when it comes to corporate executives obsessed with profit margins.

No they're not. Valve knows it's bread and butter. They're complimenting their existing business model with side ventures like the GabeCube. They're not expecting to challenge Sony or Nintendo in the console market. It would effectively be suicide for them to try.
Agreed. This is their "dipping their toes in the water" moment.

The man is downright Titanic!

Meh, it's not a very popular type of game on PC anyways, the first ones had decent numbers because i guess people were curious but even then none of them even cracked the 100k CCU i believe, everything that came after didnt do much better than microsofts games. God of war ragnarok for instance, a game that sold over 15M copies, couldn't even do double the terrible numbers of avowed

But it has a high cost to the overall health of Playstation First party group. Overall First party sales are decreasing, it should not happen as third party sales are thriving everywhere, including on their Store. Porting the games on PC sends a powerful signal to gamers. Why would they buy a Playstation at all and get milked by Sony when they can invest into PC gaming with free online and much better Steam store? We read that in forums everywhere. In Europe PS5 sales are also down PS4 sales BTW because they are subsidizing US market with high Europe prices.

Putting their games on the Steam has been a terrible mistake with grave long term consequences. Steam is the main competitor of their cash cow PS Store! how stupid were they.

Lmao. Us guys? It's a joke. You can't be taking this seriously, surely old man. Love❤️ :D

If you can't see the joke in it, they sometimes say it's those most affected that get offended by jokes.

I've said it for the last two days. Better to take the piss out of anything Jizz Cordon. He's a damaged individual.

There's a guy in finance meetings at Sony who keeps talking about the chunk of money missing by not launching Yotei on Steam. They're probably not gonna ignore that as the income gets thinner and thinner.

My 2 cents as to why first party sales are decreasing is because they have released a lot of games that were super easy to pass on

For me personally the only first party game I have played that I thought wow I am glad I own a PS5 for that was Astrobot

For some reason I'm sure that Jez trip to the bathroom looks something like this:

"Gentlemen, news from reliable sources: I need to go to the toilet."
After 5 minutes
"You know, new details have surfaced, I'm not entirely sure I need this."
Another 5 minutes later
"I've been told from a trusted source that I definitely need this."
Then he stumbles in the hallway, falls, and takes a dump in his pants.
"You know, I didn't really want to, and I didn't say that anyway."

I swear to God, take a weather station in the most unpredictable place on planet Earth, it predicts the weather more accurately than he writes.
Either he's just trolling or I'm slowly going crazy. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Problem is people can't differentiate between revenue and profits, not sure how much Playstation made in profits, probably around 4 billion? considering the costs of the ports are so low, 600m or 15% of their total profits doesn't sound bad at all

"It was taking the piss!"
~boy who cried 'wolf'

That only works if everyone on this forum who has known you for any length of time suddenly developed amnesia.

I was hoping that we had all got to the point of knowing each other and light hearted banter from all sides was accepted.

I guess I was wrong.

I just hope you guys would show the same energy to your fellow Sony leaning friends who spam memes, GIFs, images and comments and none of you ever say anything.

It's really sad, this holier than thou crusade you Sony fans lean into.

It's basically one rule for anyone else...and then you will say...

Oh here comes the persecution complex.

You could have just passed over that comment but you guys always start shit like this.
