No it's not.it's a way to cheap out from having to design new areas with different assets.

Having 3 large areas with intricate and thoughtful level design is way better than just having >3 linear areas that look different, imo. The map design is one of the best aspects of these titles.I understand people like it, but it's a way to cheap out from having to design new areas with different assets.
This and Kid Icarus: UprisingI think you could give it real controls like Skyward Sword hd it would fix other ms major problems
Again, you are comparing a 10th gen console (the Switch 2) with a 7th gen console that came out 20 years ago. If the Switch 2 wasn't able to deliver resolution and frame rate improvements for similar looking games, it would be absolutely pathetic. The fact that the character models, textures, and geometry in MP4 are being compared to Halo 4 (a 13year old 7th gen game) is even kind of sad.You are saying that like resolution and framerate doesn't have an huge impact on the GPU. As I said Halo 4 is a 30fps 720p game on the 360. Cyberpunk is a 720p 30fps game on the Switch 2. See the big difference. Now show me what a 4K 60fps game would look like on the 360.

Cyberpunk doesn't have much to do with any of this. Getting a 9th gen game to run on a 10th gen console is cool I guess but MP4 isn't even close to the same tier of graphical/technical achievement. It has an empty desert hub with some of the weakest sand effects we've seen, (I think Uncharted 3 was doing more impressive stuff), and hub-connected biomes are narrowish corridors with modern shaders and basic geometry. Given the game runs on Switch, it's not a stretch to think 4k/120 would be a minimum requirement.
You're not helping your cause. The texture work in Halo 4 is superior to that of MP4. Unless the alien race that inhabited the world took the time to paint the flat leaves, cracks and vines and on the pavement.I think many people have forgotten how Halo 4 and 5 looked on xbox consoles.

oh yes another remastered Nintendo won't give us that I want real badThis and Kid Icarus: Uprising
Any game designed around native 4K game running at 60fps on Switch 2 will not be far off from this game. The fact that this is the only example of a native 4K 60fps Switch 2 game even when accounting for the upgraded Switch 1 ports is telling in itself. Donkey Kong Bananza is 1080p for a reason.
Yes. And the game is 13 years old,On the 360 hardware? Are you sure about that?

Either you were trolling or blinded because no human was stupid enough to make that kind of statement. This is how those Halo games look. Halo 4, 5, and Infinite. You're not helping your cause. Mind blowing that Metroids OWN developers don't know how un-Metroid this bullshit is.Metroid is probably my favorite series overall
Prime 1 especially is one of my top 3 games ever. Also loved Prime 2, Prime 3 was a good game but dropped a lot of Metroid feeling
Sadly this game seems to follow Prime 3 more than 1. I guess we will see - I am actually not that opposed to the talking part. What I disliked the most was the escort shit. You even got a game over when that guy died!
That is NOT Metroid. It is the opposite
The Switch 2 has been very disappointing graphically with every Nintendo first party game so far. MP4 is not going to be an exceptions. The visuals have been underwhelming for a MP game since the reveal. This is a franchise known for its awesome visuals and while it looks 'nice' it doesn't have that wow factor it should have.Any game designed around native 4K running at 60fps on Switch 2 will not be far off from this game. What would Donkey Kong have had to sacrifice to run at 4 times the resolution.
How dumb do you have to be to use a Halo Infinite screenshot atop a mountain looking down into a valley as an example of poor textures.Either you were trolling or blinded because no human was stupid enough to make that kind of statement. This is how those Halo games look. Halo 4, 5, and Infinite.

Dude, you claimed Halo 4 has better graphics than MP4 despite it being the opposite, and now you're focusing on texture details of MP4, which is still better than Halo 4 and 5.How dumb do you have to be to use a Halo Infinite screenshot atop a mountain looking down into a valley as an example of poor textures.
At any rate, the Halo 4/5 textures are much more cohesive than whatever this shit is:

That masterful red/green smear. The flat copy/pasted leaves glued to the side of the rock.
Just because a texture is high resolution doesn't mean that it is good.
That last image has to be the laziest texture I have seen in a long time. Are those shadows? Why would pavement wave and warp like that? The way that alien race use play dough-style machines to construct their architecture is stunning. Then, incredibly enough, the DOF goes full N64.
Keep carrying water for Nintendo though. You are doing them a great service.
Who is this idiot?I have a really bad feeling about this.

Go back and read. I referenced textures in every Halo 4 comparison I made though there is probably an argument to be made about the character models, effects and overall geometry.Dude, you claimed Halo 4 has better graphics than MP4 despite it being the opposite, and now you're focusing on texture details of MP4, which is still better than Halo 4 and 5.
You keep downplaying the importance of high resolution and IQ impact on overall graphical qualities, especially on a portable system like Switch.

Of course the resolution and frame rate is going to be better - the 360 is 20 years old. MP4 is 7th gen tech (Switch) running on a 10th gen console (Switch 2). You don't think Halo 4 would run at 4k/120 on the Ally?
And you can't be absurd enough to think that MP4 is on the same level as Doom TDA and Halo Infinite... Maybe Borderlands 4, but I think that game looks incredibly average as well; even when you cut it some slack for being an open world.
Well if you look at this objectively, MP4 was built around the original Switch hardware, which was more like an Xbox 360 or PS3 in terms of power. Now I think it's pretty obvious the Swiitch 2 sits somwhere between the PS4 Pro and Series S in terms of what it can achive visuals wise. The Star Wars Outlaws port demonstrates it's also pretty capable with more modern game engines.Again, you are comparing a 10th gen console (the Switch 2) with a 7th gen console that came out 20 years ago. You are grossly underestimating how taxing 4K is to a GPU.
Here is a 4K HDR video of the gameplay, this looked awesome on my OLED. The narrator is kind of intense, but the video is pretty awesome,
Also the mini review is probably the most balanced I have seen. And in particular his comments about the new NPC's. They exist to make the game more accessable, and you still get the core game elements that make this series what it is. This latest entry has the potenntial to be the biggest selling game in the franchises history.Man, the regular Metroid Prime/classic/non-NPC gameplay looks great.
I also really like the new beam that lets you control the trajectory. Reminds me of Zelda: Skyward Sword's beetle item, which was one of my favorites in that game.
Can't wait!
We have to be a little realistic here. Nintendo have developed a game and invested a lot of money, even more when you consider they had to totally re start with a new development studio. On a franchise that has sold pretty niche sales numbers at best. The biggest selling title in the series on the cube only sold around 2.84 million copies, and that was when Nintendo were still in the core console market. Corruption on the Wii only sold 1.4 million copies from a pretty decent userbase. And as I have previously stated the recent remaster has sold around 1.09 million units, on a massively popular console. This type of chatter would befit a Mario game.
I would welcome it there, in fact.
Exactly thisMind blowing that Metroids OWN developers don't know how un-Metroid this bullshit is.
We are living in the corporate gaming hellscape for real and Nintendo has gone all in on it at the worst time, right when Switch2 is in its first year.
How many bad decisions, greedy decisions, messed up franchise etc are we going to see during Switch 2's life?
Sure, the game will still be good and still have stretches where it'll be a true Metroid Prime game but that doesn't mean it will be worse than it should be and irrevokably damaged by the hand holding and onmbnoxious characters and dialog. Image replaying the game and every time you have to slow through unnecessary dialog and cutscenes ...replay value will be damaged as well
This feels like Atreus in GoW Ragnarok all over again
How do we know this exactly?, the game has not even been reviewed as yet. And I liked corruption as well, but it felt a lot different to the original. When you say it looks worse than prime 3, did you mean the visuals.Exactly this
We now know this game wont surpass Prime 1/2. Especially over time this shit will absolutely destrory replayability
There is a reason i never replayed Prime 3, but Prime 1 countless times. This looks even worse than Prime 3 so far too
I am kind of chocked that Nintendo did not block this typical western design. They usually avoid this stuff very well.
Oh no visuals and gameplay looks amazingHow do we know this exactly?, the game has not even been reviewed as yet. And I liked corruption as well, but it felt a lot different to the original. When you say it looks worse than prime 3, did you mean the visuals.
I really liked corruption, and played it quite a few times on the Wii. The recent remaster of the original left me cold, the visuals are great but it just seemed very dated. Nintendo started off production with a Japanese developer but jumped ship back to retro studios, so perhaps they just preferred the western approach. Personally a few annoying NPC's will not prevent me enjoying this game. Hopefully when we see some proper reviews most will feel the same.Oh no visuals and gameplay looks amazing
I mean the story/dialogue looks even worse (more front and center) that in prime 3
If you look at the trailer with the marines saying stuff like "want to see my family" and especially cringe shit like "bring the band back together". That WILL for sure destroy the atmosphere
Unless. There is a big unless here
Unless they introduce them and then i a big even kill them off to really empathize the isolation and horror part of metroid
But hearing the dialogue and marketing i fully expect this to be a disney story where everthing just goes fine in the end
I agree that the reactions are overblownI really liked corruption, and played it quite a few times on the Wii. I am hoping this strikes the right balance. The original feels a little dated which is why I liked corruption so much. Pretty sure Retro will not let us down. But the game needs more accessibility as it's very unlikely we will get more titles if this bombs.I agree that the reactions are overblown
I mean it looks GREAT. It is more a disappointment for me. I do not like chatty npc in almost any game and especially in metroid
Imagine if you had chatty npc summons in elden ring follow you around that you also had to keep alive. It would still be elden ring but it would be an annoyance at least
I imagine it might be the other way around and Nintendo is the one pushing for this and that a lot of RETRO Staff are sitting around thinking 'told you so' right about now.I am kind of chocked that Nintendo did not block this typical western design. They usually avoid this stuff very well.
Ever since I was working on the Metroid Prime series, I had this idea to start work on something other than just focusing on Samus to put an emphasis on the Federation Force – their battle against the Space Pirates
"I'm also thinking that, in that eventual game between Sylux and Samus that might get made, that I want to involve the [Galactic] Federation as well," he said. "So it would be a good idea to release a game like Federation Forces to flesh out its role in the galaxy before moving on to that.
Some renders of the Federation Troopers and the corresponding trailer shot of each.![]()
Will be interesting to see if we get a face reveal of Sylux in this. Supposedly he is human.

That the game will meet our expectations
Oh shit yep probably this then… i had just about forgotten that 3ds game where Tanabe was really excited for federation stuff tooI imagine it might be the other way around and Nintendo is the one pushing for this and that a lot of RETRO Staff are sitting around thinking 'told you so' right about now.
Kensuke Tanabe has been talking and pushing this stuff for years in the prime series.
Two separate interviews long before we got a reveal of Metroid Prime 4:
