I wonder how hard it will be to get these extra cutscenes without the Sylux amiibo.

Yes it is, it's published by Nintendo.
Published, but only partially owned. Pokémon is jointly owned by Nintendo, gamefreak, and the Pokémon company (which nintendo doesnt own either of those companies). It's never made in-house at nintendo and gamefreak does all the development and marketing.

Its a second party exclusive. Just like halo and gears were second party to xbox before MS bought the IP's when bungie and epic dipped.

Doesn't matter. It's considered first party, and so is something like, say, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom or Metroid: Dread, despite also not being developed in-house.

at this point we're just arguing semantics. Though from all the google searches Ive checked, its generally agreed pokemon is a second party exclusive due it being made by a third party developer who has a publishing agreement with nintendo (same could arguably be said about some others like kirby, but i believe nintendo actually does own those IP's. With pokemon they only own it partially)

Games like hyrule warriors are still first party because nintendo still owns the full IP rights.

That said, pokopia isnt a mainline game. Its a second party game being developed by a third party developer (same devs as dragon quest builders iirc) so its not going to get the same treatment as, say, legends za. So i dont think the freebie 64gb cards were an option for them.

Nintendo is VERY hands-on when they hand their IP's off to other developers, and we know from Other M that they're fully onboard with NPC's, dialogue, etc. I don't have insight into this specific situation, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is Nintendo's doing.
Nintendo is hands on sure, but mostly from a gameplay perspective. Never have I seen Nintendo caring about story let alone NPCs.

Sound design and animation looks god awful, the basic blast sound is too low and unimpressive, animation is from 4 generations back, there is shit out there called motion matching, the world lacks a lot of detail. so being 4k and hdr just don't cut it. i know the game is a switch game, but let's keep it real it doesn't look amazing nor damn impressive.
As I said the game looks fine considering the console it was made for. Not sure what you are tyring to say here. Most previews praise the games visuals and the negatives are based on the NPC's or one to be more precise. It only seems to be a few on here stating the games visuals are bad.

Around 50% owned by Nintendo and they also have an undisclosed stake in creatures inc. These games are never coming to another platform and are for all intents and purposes Nintendo through and through.

i agree youre not going to see their games on other platforms (except mobile, which is something gamefreak really pushed for)

Pokemon in general is a bit of an anomaly, the biggest reveals are generally through gamefreak's pokemon events rather than Nintendo's directs. Publishing aside, gamefreak handles pretty much 100% of the development of anything Pokemon related. But i digress.

OT: the more i see of this game, the more it gives me a 343 era halo vibe. (But not in a bad way. Kinda makes me want to replay halo 4)

Totally agree with this. But if you where to ask most people they would assume Pokemon was just another Nintendo franchise. As it was so hard wired into the GameBoy era, and been a permanent Nintendo fixture ever since. Their Switch output is also pretty impressive from a sheer amount of games perspective. And the only games that are getting anywhere near Nintendo's own sales of it's biggest first party titles. Which leads me to believe it's Nintendo and the franchise itself that does help sales.

Definitely gives off strong Halo 4/5 vibes for me as well. Hopefully it's more 4 than 5 though.

A bunch of Retrostudio ex employees worked later on 343 including some lead art designers like Kynan Pearson, a level designer (Metroid Prime 2, 3 and Halo 4 level designer), so basically the 343 Halos looks like Metroid Prime games not the opposite.

Most previews are made by Nintendo fans.
I for one have never said the visuals are bad, they lack detail, the game is fine if you dont like visually striking games, animation is also part of the visuals, and it looks ancient. All those features add to the overall experience, and if they are subpar they detract from it. So it's baffling to read comments that state that the game looks amazing or damn good. Because it doesn't even if it was designed for switch 1. Motion matching must be on Switch 2 version.

Do you think that MP1 remaster looks ancient or have a bad animations?

The game looks fine.

A civil war between the fanbase. Isolationists vs Acceptors Of Change.

A deeply ironic comment given that you and the usual suspects in this thread are going absolutely wild for a game that mostly looks very, very samey in most regards whereas somebody like me who doesn't like the new elements of the presentation of the narrative is getting a bit worried by just how much this looks like a reskin of the previous games.

I think many of us would accept change - plenty of change - if it actually looks good.

I'll be enjoying seeing Samus interacting with other humans like I did with Other M. Hopefully you and the rest skip the game and play something else since its such a major point of contention for you. There's always Kirby Air Riders.

So the voice actor for Myles created a fake video of lines that are not in the game and there are still people who believe it

Hopefully why? So you don't have to have any criticisms pierce your blissful fanboy bubble?

Yes........

Ah, well, fair enough.

You must realise this exchange is exasperating though because almost everyone who has stopped by the related threads to express concern about aspects of what we've seen is an avowed fan of the Prime games (like me) or is broadly positive/optimistic about the rest of the game.

We all want it to be great. I'd LOVE it to be great. I'm desperate for another game like this - Prime 1&2 are two of my favourite games ever - I am just concerned about some of this stuff and I also want Rare to have aimed to be ambitious and push the fundamentals forward.

I think this is a series which has so much more unrealised potential, actually. So while I'm sure I'd enjoy it I would hope they would aim higher than 1&2.

As good as Prime 1&2 were. Still really liked Corruption but it's just not as good as the first two.

I heard you can mute the voice acting in the settings. So i will just do that for the 15 minutes or so you have to escort that cringemaster.
The game seems amazing otherwise so no need to make drama over this.

You guy's criticisms are nothing new. Heard them with Other M and heard the with Prime 3 when both the creator of Metroid and Retro wanted to expand the franchise with new elements. Retro is continuing that push. If you guys dont like it then maybe its best you spend your money elsewhere on something you do like. Unlike reviewers who get free copies and is their job to engage with things they do not like, you will just be a customer wasting your money

MP4 actually looks solid — it's basically a Nintendo game that manages to maintain a minimum of 60fps, and honestly, not many shooters can even do that today, anywhere.

Is Nintendo going to out-shine The Coalition or Naughty Dog visually? Absolutely not. Not even Retro can hit that level. But it doesn't need to. It looks "good enough" for Nintendo's style, and considering the hardware limitations of the Switch 1, it's actually impressive that the game will likely run at a locked 30fps on that system — which is what I'm assuming they're targeting.

As for the NPCs: they're clearly aiming for their own version of a Cortana, Sully, or Claptrap. They don't want to directly rip off those characters… but they're definitely borrowing the formula.

And honestly, I don't think Nintendo, Xbox, or Sony studios can truly reinvent a genre anymore. There's just too much money at stake. Everyone's going to play it safe and iterate.

I do think this game will end up being solid, though. The time-travel angle feels like a setup to retcon MP2–3 and bring back either Mother Brain or Ridley. That's the hook. And I wouldn't be surprised if you either fight Sylux at the end… or he joins you to take on some bigger villain.

The irony is you are suggesting some are not taking your complaints seriously, then dismissing others that are not as bothered about the changes as fanboy's... It can't only work one way. And you keep citing people has having concerns, when in reality many with these views have already made up their minds about this game.

Anyone think there's the possibility Nintendo will just shadow drop the Prime 2 and 3 ports/remasters the same day this comes out or reveal it the week before? Can't help but think that's a possibility.

There are literally people in here saying "Nintendo can do no wrong" and saying that if you have any criticisms whatsoever then you shouldn't be allowed to play it or post about it. People have literally admitted that they want a nuance-free echo chamber of nothing but praise for the game. Of all the things to label that as, "fanboy" is probably the least incendiary.

Im still picking it up but its going away for Christmas, so im going to experience this myself later in December. However im calling it now, this character is hated by everyone in the community and its later revealed that this was one of the changes that Nintendo demanded to have implemented to make the game "more accessible." So Retro made the character as annoying as fucking possible so that if they ever get the chance to make Metriod Prime 5 they can give them as an example to stop coming up with shitty ideas for their game and leave them the fuck alone to make the game.

If not then WTF is wrong with Retro? I've wanted more Troopers to show up since Federation Force, but I wanted Sgt Johnson from Halo, not fucking Claptrap.

People believe it because it looks identical to the actual content of the real game. That makes the opposite point from what the voice actor probably intended.

Can these companies just muzzle voice actors for some length of time before a game comes out? I feel like it's always the voice actors causing drama. They, fittingly, just can't seem to shut up. This is not helping lol. Shit like this will just speed up companies replacing them with AI.
