They made an obviously fake trailer that showed barely anything and then showed extensive footage before release. There are parts of the game that have a plenty "grimdark" feel even, but you'd have to play the game to know that.

Some of you have literally come into Avowed threads dozens of times and have never played the game. Truly a wonder how some of you function in life (not saying you've done that legacy24 legacy24 but a couple people here have lol)
 
Would love to replay it but I'm not buying it or resubbing just for that.

IMO game was great in every aspect, especially the exploration and combat feel. It's also very rewarding to play twice just for the "evil" path.

Doesn't even have to be Avowed. Just ANYTHING other than Final Fantasy.

It's actually a cool movie, and it's fun getting people to really get into visuals.

In combat sports, in order to drum up hype, especially if the fighters (product) are fairly uncharismatic, you have a guy assume the role of a heel, it's risky, but you do it to spruce things up.

I anticipated someone would bring up the scene in question, so in order to maintain the vibe, I left it out intentionally.

Adam is a tough cookie, I knew he could take it, got a little shaky there for a second, but it's fine, you just have to roll the dice to make things exciting.

Not to derail the thread (apologies mods, I'm still getting used to the rules here) but can anyone who actually played Avowed share some opinions on whether they think it is good or worth the time, a year after release? I'm also curious how well it "fits" in the PoE world.

Hes literally trolling me low key because i said magnus is a pc not a console. i mean lets be real if avowed would be from sony do you really think he would say the same about the game all the time? and im sure you and the whole forum knows the answer to that. have a nice day.
 
i'm really happy with the photo mode addition but i wish it was there at launch. the game has great lighting with hardware lumen

It sets up future installments in POE universe. Refers to older events a fair bit.

Game itself, I would say, play it for loot and upgrade. Respec after every area for new weapons you find. Its a lot of fun. Story and quests are less of a highlight. Only towards the end it sets things in motion.
 
I didn't dislike this game. It's pretty good. 8/10

I think it looks fantastic on console with Software Lumen as well.

Some of my screens when I was playing the game in its 40fps Balanced mode.

This game's art style reeks of Dragon Age Veilguard's wokeism i hate these weird bright colors that are also muted at the same time. Everything looks like a rainbow put together by 5 year old with no consistency.

I don't understand how it just gets approved by the art director. If I was the art director and this is what the artists presented me for the art direction i would just agree and say "yeah, looks great!" And then tell them don't show up too work for a week and then fire them without saying anything.

It's literally the PoE 2 art style but in 3D.

This new fascination with labeling colorful things as 'woke' is so weird. Y'all wanna go back to 2005-2008 where everything was a shade of grey?

I guess the closest example I can give is how Fallout changed from 2 to 3, same world, same art but just viewed in a 3D world, might not be as 'complex' in its RPG mechanics but it's far from just being a brawler/action game.

Aesthetically the game looks a lot more than PoE 2 than PoE, with that more colorful vibe.

It also follows the mythology of PoE in terms of what gods actually are, the godkin, etc.

That being said it plays completely different and has less depth due to being an ARPG.

Going by the OT, most who actually played it enjoyed the gameplay. It's a 7 or 8 depending on how much you value having a living interactive world.

For me the combat is probably the best one yet in the genre for first person perspective. Dodging, block and parry, jumping and grabbing ledges, power attacks, special abilities. Everything felt spot-on mechanically and very tight.
 
Well, I thought the game was good, and all improvements are welcome no matter how late they come 🤷‍♂️.

I'd certainly play it again and go for a non-gun build!
